Awesome Find

We were staying at Tropicana with my father in law who cannot walk too far so we take him in his wheelchair. Found Carambola as it was easy to get to. What a find! They were so attentive to his needs, service was excellent as well as the food. We were so pleased we went there 3 x's in two weeks. Alcoholic beverages were pricey but the food was exceptional and well worth the money. Can't wait to go back to Aruba and definitely go back to Carambola.

Bad, really bad

Peanut soup: bland, no taste at all. Had to add lots of salt and even request hot sauce (sambal) to make it passable.
Grouper with ginger and soy: made a specific request to not overcook it. But when it arrived at the table, it was drier that sawdust. Had to return it to the kitchen.
Service: slow and lots of errors.
They had a terrible off-night, but more likely they are spoofing the reviews here.

Wonderful dinning experience

My husband, son and I found Carambola Restaurant at the recommendation of our concierge. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Something we didn't always find in other restaurants on the island. I had the coconut curry grouper. It was by far the best meal I have eaten in a long time. We could have gone back again the next night if we were not coming home. The pasta dishes were wonderful with homemade noodles and delicious sauces. To top off the meal they brought our son a slice of yummy ice cream cake with a sparkler on it for his birthday. We can't wait to go back to Aruba to have dinner at Carambola.

best of the week

Never having stayed on Eagle Beach, Carambola was the best surprise of the week. Hands down our best meal! Fantstic service from the minute we walked in the door until we finished our trio dessert. Who can say no to hand made pasta? The seafood pasta dish was fantastic. Great seafood on delicious pasta with a sumptious sauce. You will not be disappointed!

Fantastic place!

We've been to Aruba twice and have been to dinner here each time and have not been disappointed. The food is wonderful, the staff are fantastic and friendly. The decor a warm and cozy with wonderful touches. LOVE the 80's music videos playing in the background. The 2nd time, we loved it so much we stopped in for a drink on our last night just to say goodbye!

Daniel for Server of the Year

My husband, our son and I visited Carambola on our first and last night in Aruba. Daniel was our server on both occasions and he was outstanding! He was personable, attentive and knew the menu well. Daniel made menu and wine recommendations that were superb! The entire staff at this restaurant were awesome!
The food at Carambola was outstanding! The calamari appetizer was tender and succulent, as was the black lobster ravioli. The boullibase was delectable, it was the house speciality, and rightfully so! The red snapper, grouper, scallops and jerk shrimp were all cooked to perfection and the presentation of each dish was absolutely beautiful. We thoughly enjoyed our meals and the time spent at this restaurant!

Great and Memorable Meal

We had a great evening full of wonderful food and vibes. The servers Jenny and Marlen were very entertaining and got the entire restaurant to join in to dance and sing with the accompaniment of the piano player. A young man spent the evening cooking and he specialized in a desert called french toast a la mode. It was by far the best desert I had yet had on my trip. It was covered in frosted flakes, fried and topped with ice-cream and a banana maple syrup brandi glaze. A must try

Exceptional

Our last evening dining on Aruba before departing turned out to be exceptional.
Having been outdoors all day, I wished to dine indoors; when we were seated I was amazed by the extraordinary interior of the restaurant. Not only was the interior immaculate, it glowed from candlelight.
The service provided by Manuel and Jenny couldn't have been more professional and personal. Each dish was presented with pride. And each dish was outstanding.
We never had to pour our own wine, nor made to feel sheepish about asking for menu descriptions.
I would tell anyone who asked, you must dine here when on Aruba; and make sure it's the last dinner before departure. No other dinner will be as memorable.

Aruba's little secret

My family and I have been coming to Aruba and other Crribean Islands and have always sought out restaurants with good food. This restaurant serves the most exquisite gastronomic delights and very few people seem to know about it....this must be Aruba's little secret!

We shall be coming back again and again....whether it is for the great food or great food and great service.
When you visit, ask for Eduardo....he is informative and gives you, the customer, his full expert attention.
Bravo Aruba!

Do NOT eat at this rstaurant

After waiting approximately 30 minutes our waiter finally came over to our table and apologized profusely for no one tending to us. Apparently they had lost power earlier in the evening and were behind in their service. Unfortuneately, his apology was hollow as the service never improved, and in fact, worsened. We received our drinks and appetizers(which were below average) 30 minutes later. Then another 30 minutes had elapsed and we were told that our dinners would be out shortly. Of course when they didn't come out I asked the waiter where our food was and he said it would be another 15 minutes. Now it was 2 hours since we had first sat down. At this point we left the restaurant and ended up ordering room service at our hotel. We later found out that our hotel had already removed this restaurant from their recommended list.

Best in Aruba?

I cannot say for certain that this is the best place to eat in Aruba, but it certainly must be in the top 2 or 3. Carambola was recommended to us because of the great service by Davy as well as the food. Neitherdisapppinted us! Davy greeted us at the door and made us feel right at home. There is no question that you should ask to sit in his section. The Carambola Salad was really good, but the Seafood Pasta wasthes star on the menu - only made all the better by the homemade pasta.

Disappointment

We've been coming to Aruba for eight consecutive years for ~ 20 days each year so we have been to many Aruban restaurants over the years. We saw Carombola listed as the number one restaurant in Aruba on RestaurantsAruba.com when we made our reservations. After reviewing menus, we decided to make reservations and enjoy the Early Bird menu. Sadly, we were told that the Early Bird Special was not honored in the month of December. We double- checked to make sure that we had not over-looked this point when we got home, but the website did not mention this fact. We were offered a "modified Early Bird Special" - minus several entree choices and no dessert for the same price. When we left at 7:30pm, only two of forty tables were occupied. Service was good, the food was good (but not excellent), and the ambiance for the holiday season was beautiful. However, for a number one rated restaurant, we were disappointed. We feel the owner (who was present) should have shown some class and honored the menu on the Internet. For the money, we would prefer to go to elsewhere--too many great restaurants in Aruba.

Amazing!

We had a group of six at Carambola's last week. Our server was Davey and he was fantastic. The timing of the appetizers and the meal was perfect. We had several fine dining experiences over our vacation, but our group agreed that food-wise, Carambola was the best. The sea-bass was cooked perfectly and the presentation was excellent. the red snapper special was also a hit. Davey was just the right amount of attentive, without being too overbearing and was great with our son--bringing him out his meal early. We would highly recommend Carambola.
