MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT!!
I love to travel and I love ARUBA! I usually make a few trips a year and let me just say, THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT for service, food, and presentation - HANDS DOWN! Its MY favorite in all the world! From the very first time I went to the Carambola, ALWAYS greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome... the Grouper Special is my favorite!!! Presentation is awesome! I am always relaxed, never hurried... I enjoy the outdoor space myself. Open air, very nice. I make a reservation before I leave the states! I can not wait to get back! (I always eat at Carambola on my first night.) I have tried several dishes and love the tropical dishes best. But rest assured, its ALL VERY DELISH!!!!
We love Carambola!
We stay at La Cabana resort and this is just a minute walk away from our condo. I have to admit my group came to this restaurant 4 different times during our week stay. It was absolutely wonderful. Food was great every time, and we tried many different entrees. Also the wine was to die for. Not only was the food great, the service was amazing!! All of the waiters were very personable and extremely accommodating. I enjoyed every minute i spent at Carambola. Highly recommend this restaurant!! I do recommend eating inside however because it can get a little windy on the deck but both are great!
Great ambiance and friendly staff
Worth a repeat for sure! Excellent food, and perfect service. Our waiter Aldo did great. Happy evening!
Dinner at Carambola
Four of us recently had dinner at Carambola. We wanted to try a restaurant in Aruba we had never eaten at, so after reading reviews, most of them being excellent, the few negative reviews make you wonder... if some people are really miserable and never happy or their meal was really bad. We all loved our meals from the appetizers down to the desserts. Our waiter Aldo was one of the most attentive and happiest we found in Aruba!! We will definately return and highly recommend this restaurant. We came to the conclusion some people are just not happy with anything and I'm glad we are not that type.
We discovered this place our last night and wish we'd found it earlier. My fussy husband had the linguini with clams and I had the mahi-mahi. Both were delicious and perfectly prepared. Our waiter, Aldo, was very friendly and helpful. We look forward to trying more dishes when we return next year.
it was my first time in aruba and also eating at Carambola. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend the seafood pasta for the seafood lovers.
Once and done!
I just returned from eating at Carambola after talking my brother and his wife into trying my pick for new place to dine in Aruba. Surf and turf: surf fine but the turf was tough. service could not have been better but I was embarresed to find that they do NOT accept travelers checks. I will not recommend this restaurant.
Although it was very busy in December when we were there, the service was outstanding. You must try the 3 "c" soup served in a bread bowl. Everything my husband and I ordered and ate was delicious. See you again this November/December.
Amazing Thanksgiving Experience!
We found Carambola when we got to the island and decided to have Thanksgiving dinner there. It was better than we expected.
The service was amazing (special recognition to Aldo - he's THE MAN), and the food was incredible. Four adults and three kids, some having a traditional American Thanksgiving feast and others sampling different cuisine, but nothing but rave reviews on every bite from everyone at the table.
The display at the front of the restaurant was playing kitschy 80's music videos that were great to reminisce over and show to our kids, and the rest of the ambiance was "elegantly casual". Very posh for the places that we had been, but none of us felt out of place in our shorts and t-shirts.
One of our best dining experiences on the island and one of the first places we will head back to when we return!
Ate here the other night with my family, food and service was great!! I personally recommend the seafood pasta.
Family dinner for eight at Carambola. Seven adults and one child.
Waiter was Amavry. Very attentive and very helpful. Duck and lobster tail were great. Also had lamb chops and sea bass. Both very good.
Understand the high approval rating this place has rec'd. Relax and enjoy.
I found the restaurant to be ordinary..nothing special. Food was just ok. For a Saturday night to have only 3 tables full tells me something. There are so many great restaurants in Aruba I don't think I will be back to this one.
ate there for dinner, had the rack of lamb and it was delicious. Very nice place during the evening, lovely and attentive staff.
EXCELLENT once again!!
This is our second visit to Carambola, and it was even better than the last one. I think the title of my review defines the quality of the restaurant, as it is one of the best restaurants on the island. Carambola offers excellent dishes, perfect ambiance for all and a loving staff that will make sure you feel right at home.
They can count on our next visit.
Very Attractive place
Went to Carambola for the 1st time - had planned on going there last trip, but they were closed for vacation. We both had the special Surf & Turf, which included soup and a glass of Sangria. I'm not a big fan of Sangria, but I think this is the best Sangria we've had in Aruba (with Smokey Joe's being the absolute worst). Since DW doesn't eat red meat, we asked if they could give her the lobster tails and I would have the Filet Mignons - they happily obliged. The lobster tails were bigger than expected, so DW took one back to our room and had 2 lunches with it. Price was $110.05, which included 2 drinks and tip. The inside dining room is very attractive, but my complaint is that they have a very large flat screen TV showing music videos which I think detracts from the fine dining experience. When the live entertainer started playing, they turned off the volume on TV, but kept the picture on. IMHO, TV's belong in sports bars. Would definitely return, but would look for a table that doesn't face the TV.
Aldo, our server was GREAT! Food and service was excellent.... Definitely recommended....
What a delightful surprise. Did not know what to expect- excellent food, at a very reasonable price. Attentive, but not too much, service. Food was lovely.
I had the MOST tender and moist grouper I have EVER had. My wife had the Carambola pasta, which was al dente, with a not too garlicky sauce. Clams, mussels, shrimp and chorizo were all properly done.
The red sangria was delicious, too.
All in all ... a great choice!!
Ate here recently. Food was good. Staff was friendly and attentive. All in all a pleasant experience.
I have visited Aruba countless times. And i can honestly say that the island of aruba is my second home for me and my family. but i have never heard of Carambola. In the late afternoon my wife and i were relaxing by the poolside and we overheard a couple discussing their positive experience at Carambola so we decided to make dinner reservations and try something new. We did not know what to expect at first but as soon as we arrived the restaurant staff welcomed us warmly and gave us a good feeling. Not only that the restaurant it self was extremely beautiful. like my dad used to say "make a good first impression'' and that they did. After that words can not explain my experience here at Carambola. Everything was just perfect the food, fast and attentive service and most importantly they made us feel right at home. Our waiter Juan Carlos was at his best a very nice gentleman.
I will definitely be back with my family for my next visit!!!!
Good but overpriced and not great
After reading the reviews we finally decided to try Carombola. It was good not great. It was very loud inside as they had 2 large tables. We ordered the peanut soup which was not bad. Then we ordered the Bread Cake oops crab cake. It was 75% bread and the rest crab. The taste was not bad but mostly bread. The whole red snapper was good but what a rip off....$40,maybe they should charge market price like most other restaurants .I think some of the reviews are tainted!!!!!!!
Best kept secret
This newer island restaurant has some of the best quality food that Aruba can offer. The owner, Martin ( previously the maitre'd of Ventanas del Mar) opened his dream restaurant which delivers on all accounts. The menu is varied from some of the best tasting fresh fish and seafood dishes to a wonderful mix of pasta, meat, and poultry. There is a very large selection of appetizers as well as entrees. The Carambola salad is outstanding and the calamari was some of the best that my family has ever eaten. All of the plates are also esthetically pleasing to the eye as well. The service is very attentive without being intrusive. The interior is also warm, hip, and inviting. (They also have an outdoor covered dining area for those who prefer the outdoor dining experience.). The grouper with coconut curry sauce was outstanding as well as the boullibase which contained a vast and large portion of seafood. All of the entrees portions were ample so you definitely won't go home hungry. Save room for dessert though because they are all fresh and homemade, try the Charlie brownie pie and the tiramisu. All and all, Carambola will win your heart with wonderful food, excellent service, and the warm welcome that you will receive from Martin. Don't miss the islands best kept secret
Excellent in every way
We were there in March and the experience was fabulous right from the first step in the front door to the last sip of coffee. Juan Carlos could not have done a better job at delivering first class service. The atmosphere is casually elegant; the menu is not extensive but the selections are great. This will definitely be a destination for dinner on all our annual vacations to Aruba.
Not the best
The food and service were good but not great. In comparison to the other restaurants we ate at it wasn't at the same level as many of the other ones. It was the most expensive meal of the week and definitely was not worth our money. Will not be going again.
We always make Carambolas one of our dinner stops while on vacation in Aruba, and we are never disapointed. This year our waiter was Edwardo, we followed his recomendation and once again had a delicious meal. The sangria was very good, not to tart and not to sweet. We had the catch of the day, grouper with coconut curry. OMgosh it was great. The waitstaff are so much fun, they make you feel right at home. We would like to thank Edwardo and the young man from Suriname for such a great time.
Simply The Best
We were in Aruba in Jan 2013, when we found this gem of a restaurant.
The food was Spectacular, the service even better. The Creole Red Snapper outstanding. They had one of the best brunches I have seen, and that includes the US. As good as the food was their service was even better, friendly, attentive and very personable.
If you get the chance you must try, we did, so much that we had A lunch, two nites for dinner and their Sunday Brunch
