We had high expectations after reading other reviews, and we were not disappointed. The grouper was so fresh and tender I swear it was caught upon order, and the beef tips in fettuccine were perfect. We also had the peanut soup (don't miss it!) and the warm goat cheese...mmmm. Our server Aldo was attentive but not hovering and personable. A lovely dining experience. This is not a family restaurant..more for a romantic dinner or adult party, as the ambiance is low key and mellow. Try it!
A MUST!! This is the most warm & welcoming restaurant, Martin greets everyine upon arrival, best Mojito's! sangria is delightful. Food is delish, presentation beautiful, ( took pictures:+)- crazy I know). This is the 2ND visit to Aruba, and we always have a breakfast & dinner here. If you want a special tastey evening out go here.
A must go. Martin, the owner and his wonderful staff, Frank and Aldo were more than welcoming and attentive.
We went for breakfast, delicious, fresh (Sunday Brunch) and went back for dinner and were more than pleased. The atmosphere is very pretty and Carambola (star-fruit) has become our new best find for dining in Aruba. Jan.19-2, 2012.
We sought out this fairly new restaurant because of its high ratings in both "RestaurantsAruba" and "TravelAdvisor.". After enjoying two evenings there during our one week stay at La Cabana, we certainly understood why. What a great addition to Eagle Beach dining! Friendly, attentive service from Frank and Aldo, creatively presented seafood and meat entree's, and a surprisingly nice two-floor dining room await those who can find it because it is located off of the main drag. It actually rivals Passions on the Beach for food quality but without the sand and atmosphere. We will be back in 2013!
What a wonderful place for dinner. It was our first visit and we will be going back again next week. Martin, who is the owner, introduced himself and gave us a nice welcome. When you go ask for Frank who was our waiter. He is simply the best. You'll see what I mean when he serves you
Fantastic food and service. Located at Paradise Beach Villas next to the Cabana. Our 4th year visiting Aruba and now this is the place to eat! Our breakfasts were fresh and the OJ was the best I've ever had.
We ate dinner on a Thursday and were delighted with the service & our food. Husband had the Sea Bass and I had the porkchop made with peaches & caramelized onions...wow! Eat inside or out and dress casual or dress up..they welcome you and give you their best every time. Go, you won't regret it. I did give a lower score for child friendly due to the menu choices and atmosphere. It's relaxing and not "fast" food designed to please children.
We had a wonderful experience at Carambola while vacationing in Aruba. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to the restaurant. It was a beautiful setting. The food was excellent and our waiter, Frank, provided excellent service. It was a memorable evening for us. We will definitely eat there again on our next visit to Aruba. I would highly recomend Carambola for fine dining.
We visited for breakfast on our last day in Aruba, and I left being dissapointed we hadn't stopped in earlier! The food and service were both great, and the price for their breakfast was the best I had seen, very reasonable. The atmosphere and architecture inside is also very nice, not what you'd expect looking at the building from the outside. We'll be stopping back again next time we're in Aruba!
lekker gegeten en gedronken. bediening is top (je hoeft niet te lang wachten op je bestelling).!
ambience is keurig.
We were a little apprehensive going into this near empty restaurant at 6:30 PM on a Wednesday (1/12/2012). What a treat! Frank made our visit most enjoyable and the grouper with mashed potatoes and vegetables was one of the best meals we've had in years.
When we left an hour later most of the tables were full
Thank you Frank for a most enjoyable experiance.

Our family went to Carambola and had an excellent experience. The service was some of the best we have ever experienced. Our waiter, Juan Carlos, is a lovely professional who enhanced our dining and welcomed us to the island. We had spectacular soups and appetizers. One of us had a full entree, rack of lamb, and it was all very tasty and impressive. Many of the classic staples with adventurous variety mixed in the menu as well. We will definitely be going back. This restaurant brings a high end culture and fine dining together with friendly, impeccable service for an overall pleasant experience.
We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant. The four of us went there Dec. 2nd which was our first nnight in Aruba ande were dissapointed. The atmosphere is great. The service was good not great but no biggie. The soups we had were delicious. The entrees were not good. The Wahoo had to be sent back because it was way over cooked. I had the snapper which was just average . My wife had the beef staganoff which she couldnt eat and my other friend had the surf and turf. 4 oz filet and 2 shrimp $45. My wife asked about the lobster but they told her $75 for a carbbean lobster. Thats crazy. The portions are small and they are priced way too high for what you get. We never complain and didnt at this place. We just sent the Wahoo back and wont go back. Overall, a nice looking restaurant that needs to either lower prices or improve on the quality of the entrees.
My family of four had a most delicious meal at Carambola. The service and ambiance were excellent and the food was the best we have ever had in Aruba. The ceviche was delicious and as good as any we had in Lima. We each has a different entree- wahoo, filet mignon, scallops and sea bass. All were delicious and beautifully presented. We look forward to returning soon!
I was just getting ready to write a review on the restaurants i visited in aruba, especially my favorite carambola. that is where i read the review for another patrons disappointing experience eating the scallpos. i can't disagree more. They were the best i ever tasted in the islands. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The owner and staff could not be more accomadating and friendly. Carambola is the best new restaurant in aruba and look forward to visiting martin the owner and his staff next year..

Based on all of the outstanding reviews, we visited carambola for the first time. We were quite disappointed, especially in light of all of the reviews. Our appetizers were extremely good. Escargot and French onion soup. For our main courses, we had snapper fillet and scallops. The snapper filet was average at best and the scallops were really not tasty at all. We expressed our comments to the waiter who was very apologetic. The manager and owner then came over to talk to us. Instead of asking us why we were disappointed in the scallops, he proceeded to tell us that the scallop dish was his favorite and that he had to stop eating it because his cholesterol was too high. This was, in my opinion, the absolutely wrong approach to take with a customer who is expressing disappointment in a particular dish. He should have tried to understand why we felt the dish was not acceptable so that he could share the comments with the chef. Each year we try one or two new restaurants and are often quite pleased, but unfortunately we will not be going back to this one.
Our first visit to Carambola Restaurant was very enjoyable. Torrential rain outside made it a bit difficult to get to for some unaccustomed to a little Aruban street flooding. But once inside we were warmly greeted and treated. Juan Carlo was our server and made sure we were happy with every step. We were there for the early bird special which gave us a taste of their least expensive offerings. I have to admit that there were a number of very enticing entres on the menu. But we stuck to our guns this time and enjoyed a terrific meal of appetizers, main dishes, some interesting sides and a terrific desert that I would likely never have ordered, but for the assurance of our server. The beef tenderloin was an excellent cut of meat. The mushroom risotto and potatoes au gratin were extra side dishes that were really terrific. And the carmelized flan was an unexpected pleasure. Give it a try. We will be back to try some of the more interesting offerings again.
A friend recommended this restaurant to us. It is conveniently located near our timeshare so we gave it a try. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside. The interior is beautiful and has dining on two levels. The wait staff was very attentive, professional and friendly. Martin Haselhoef, the owner, came to our table and introduced himself. The food was outstanding. We had an appetizer of fried calamari that was cooked to perfection...not chewy like most restaurants. I ordered the seafood pasta and my husband had beef stroganoff. I love seafood pasta and this was by far the best I have ever had. My husband's dish was also very delicious. This is now our favorite restaurant on the island of Aruba and we plan to go back at least twice on our next visit !!
My wife and I found this restaurant because we could not tell what it was from the view of our balcony. We walked in without reservations and they accomodated us. Everything about this restaurant was amazing. The food was fresh, delicious, and worth the money. The staff/owner was very courteous and outgoing. My wife and I returned a second night. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The staff made us feel at home from the start. We were never rushed and enjoyed our meal.
The food was very tasty and prepared with excellence. We look forward to returning when we come back to Aruba
Had a very nice dinner here which consisted of the Greek salad and the seared tuna. Friends had the lobster and the beef tips with pasta. All were very good. Service and atmosphere also nice and relaxing. Will definitely be back again!
We ate breakfast and dinner at Carambola and I have to say that both meals were wonderful. The breakfast would keep you going all day, there was more than enough food. Dinner was extremely good, we all had the $24.95 specials and there was plenty to choose from. Service was good also, unhurried as it appears to be all over Aruba, but the waitresses are all so friendly. One of our party had a birthday and they brought out a cake with a long lasting sparkler in it. So neat! You will not be disappointed here, its great.
The food and service was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody vactioning in Aruba.
what a great grouper sandwich&hulk burger, breakfeast was best on island the orange juice was the best i ever had, martin &his wife treated us like family,if you are in aruba make sure to go to carambola rest, and tell martin hi..
There were 6 of us that loved this restaurant. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch & dinner. The food is just fabulous right from your morning breakfast special to the best "Hulk Burger" and grouper sandwich. Dinner and dessert were out of this world. You think that would be it, but to top it all off the owner Martin is a gem and his staff are his jewels. You can't help but feel like you are enjoying your meal with friends and family. I can't wait to go back.
Visited Carambola in August 2011 while on vacation in Aruba with a friend. The breakfast, lunch and dinner we had were outstanding. Extremely tasty and prepared after you order, so it arrives especially made for you; which is very special. The Chef is fantastic, the servers quite pleasant and friendly. We had a wonderful meal each time. My friend and I had a small cocktail party on a Sunday evening. Carambola graciously prepared three very large platters of marvelous finger foods with sauces for us. We were overwhelmed,as were our guests. Please visit.
