I choose Cook's from the internet before I left Houston and dined, Friday evening, 23 September 2011
I was pleasntly surprised with the resturant decor, very nice. The menu was filled with a plethera of choices, pages seperated by Rice Paper. I ordered The Jumbo Fried Shrimp W/ Sauted Spinach and Mashed Potatoes. A little disappointed with the substitution made for the Saute Spinach on the menu W/vegtable medly and Rice instead of Potatoes. The real disappointment was being served a Beautifuly Presented Flan instead of the Cherry Cheesecake W/Caramel Sauce I ordered. My friend ordered a Beautiful Bacon Wrapped Chichen Breast and ate every bite. Maybe I should have had a hint when the waiter came back minites after ordering to review the menu and what we ordered. Maybe the Chef should review the menu before he loads the plate. I would never return!
had dinner at Cooks on thursday, 9/2/2010. it was a special all u can eat sushi for $20. for an international restaurant not known for sushi, it was surprisingly very good! though the selection was limited, the sushi was different and fresh and tasty! the beef tenderloin roll with gouda cheese was excellent (and sushi is usually seafood)! amy had the filet mignon which was cooked just right and melted in your mouth! our server was jeancarlos who was very attentive and friendly. cooks is a little out of the way at the edge of town but it's well worth the trip...they have a parking lot and even provide free transportation to and from your hotel.
I'm disabled but making it up the stairs was so very worth it. All four of us now consider Cooks our favorite rest. We come to Aruba twice a year - we'll be there at every visit. We're bringing several others with us this year. What a wonderful surprise.
Got very lucky the night we went. They had an all-you-can-eat buffet on. Priced very reasonably, including wine (which was drinkable but left stinging hangover next morning; that's what you get when it's an all you can eat/drink; serves me right). Ribs were fantastic. Other meats were ok. Salad bar pass-able.
Had a look at the a la carte menu and prices looked a bit scary.
What a fantastic place. On the 2nd floor right off Main Street. You don't know quite what to expect when walking up the stairs. Wow, what a surprise. Wonderfully decorated. Rack of Lamb with goat cheese was out of this world. Done perfectly.
What a pleasant surprise! Just a block past El Goucho. What a great find. Great food and great value with super service to boot! The total package. A must every year from now on. Give this one a try. You will not be disappointed.
Five of us went to cooks Aug 3, 2008.
The food was very good and resonably priced.
The service was excellent. I had a full rack of ribs which was very big. I could not finish it all. But I did manage to finish my icecream for desert. My wife and Joanne had coconut shirmp and my son had a very good steak. My daughter-in-law Sue had a lobster that was a little dry but tasty. The resturant is on one of the side streets in town so I advise getting there by cab.
