Go Elsewhere

Our waiter, Greg, talked my wife and I into a Buffalo Mozzarella and Tomato Salad that turned out to be a serving for four and cost $38.00. It was so large that neither of us could enjoy or finish our main course. My Frutta de Mare was poor; the seafood was not fresh and had an odor. Also, whereas most restaurants on Aruba include a Service Charge that is intended for the entire food and wait staff, indicating that an additional optional gratuity for the wait staff would be appreciated, though not obligatory, the bill at Gianni's specifically states that the 15% Service Charge goes to the kitchen / bar staff and to the bus boys, BUT does NOT go to the wait staff and therefore expects that an additional 15% and up gratuity be left for the wait staff. We have always eaten at Gianni's at least twice on all of our trips to Aruba, but we will no longer eat there and have already told all of our friends to avoid the place at all cost. You would be wise to do the same. This restaurant has become a "tourist trap" to coin a phrase. Later in the week, we went to Hostaria DaVitttorio and were extremely satisfied by the staff service, friendliness and attentiveness, and food selection, freshness and quality. Hostaria DaVittorio was totally top-notch!!!

Great italian food...

The food at Gianni's was great...a bit pricey, but very good. We did not have a reservation and were seated inside...this was just as nice as the patio area. The staff was very attentive and the food arrived hot. Would suggest to anyone looking for good italian food.

Did not have a reservation but my wife and I had no trouble getting a table at 6:30. Later in the evening we noticed that the restaurant was packet every night so a reservation would be needed to avoid a wait. Service was very good and there was a good variety of food to select from. I had an appetizer and spaghetti carbonara. One of the best I’ve had and I eat a lot of Italian food. My wife had a shrimp cocktail and calamari for her entre. There were only 3 medium and warm shrimp in the cocktail. Disappointing to say the least. The calamari was very good and a nice size portion, which was not finished and made a nice lunch the next day. It’s a busy restaurant and if you sit outside there is the street noise also. While we did enjoy the meal there are many better restaurants’ for the same price range.

Hello everyone, I would like to say that me and my wife many years ago were one of the first to share our experience at this restuarunt. Firs, you are in aruba and all you can do is bitch about something! I would hate to be at your table. Me and my wife eat out often and I will say that this restaurant is an 7 out of 10. Its true that it is very busy but one this I could always say that if your dish was not to your standards and knowing Danny the owner he would have made sure that hs did something to work with you. Some people want to only bitch so they can get a free meal. Its funny actually they will eat everything off their plate then want to see the owner! Do me a favior and go down to chucky cheese which is more inline with your what you can afford. I would hate to see what you do to the hotel manager when you get a $600.00 a night hotel charge. Everyone, please be nice and gicve this restaurant a try and have a beautiful night. If you have a problem as for Danny the owner and I am confident you will walk out of your experience on a beautiful note.

Ate at Giannas on March 7,,2012.Having eaten in this food establishment about two years ago and enjoyed it we figured to try it gain. That was our first mistake. We sat down about 5;30 PM and while waiting for the waitress I noticed they have two or three birds flying around,It did not seem to bother any of the help. The witress came over and gave us the menu and we proceeded to order.I decide to have a shrimp cocktail, and also a bowl of angel hair with marinara sauce.
The shrimp cocktail came ,it was TWO shrimp and the shrimp was warm, The shrimp was priced at $14.00 and at $7.00 a shrimp I am in the wrong business. I called the waitress over and told her the shrimp was warm, the menu called for chilled shrimp what happened? I was told you hacve to specify chilled shrimp,I told her to take the shrimp back it was not acceptable. She did with no comment.
The Angel hair came and that was like eating straw.I had some and pushed the plate away.Needless to say my wife was not happy with her food and neither was I.
I requested the bill in order to leave, I was expecting the manager to come over and make some kind of remark or adjustment, nothing happened.I am sure the birds have found a paradise with all the food around, after all birds all they do is fly,eat & make droppings. If you are thinking of Giannis do yourself a favor, try elsewhere.

We made a big mistake going to Gianni's. A large, noisy, bustling restaurant with mediocre food and slow service we can get anywhere. There are too many wonderful restaurants in Aruba to waste a precious vacation night here. But we wanted Italian, someplace within walking distance and heard "hit or miss" reviews on Gianni's. First told we would have to wait 45-60 minutes so when we came back 30 minutes later was told they had already called our name. Tried to get a drink at the bar but the one bartender they had kept disappearing and was VERY slow. Ordered the clams appetizer to be then told they were out and had a different kind (which we did not want.) Pasta meals were ok (Carbonara was pretty good, 4 cheese rigatoni was not.) The 15% service fee on the bill WAS NOT CLEARLY marked and very easy to miss. When we asked the waiter to confirm that the 15% tip was included he tried to convince us it was not a tip, but a service fee! What a moneymaking, tourist trap, ripoff!

The worst restaurant we have ever had the unfortune to have been to. Messed up a confirmed reservation, had receipt in hand for a group and had to wait an hour, then had tables not connecdted to each other. Waited very long for service, waiters didn't know who got what. Could not leave due to the late hour and group. Check was illegable, scribbled on back of napkin. Gianni's and his other places give newe meaning to BAD and RUDE.

This was our first visit to Gianni's. Since we are Italian, we are tough critics on our italian food. The food exceeded all or our expectations and the service was great. Our server Ryan was very helpful and he was able to answer every question we had about the food and the island. He suggested two very good dishes, a great antipasto (Burrata) and the wine was delicious!!!! We will return to gianni's our next time in Aruba.

We go to Aruba every year and being an Italian it's difficult to find good Italian Food. 2011 between the 12 & 26th of May, we visited Gianni's three times and every time it was exceptional. The service was the best of all of Aruba. Having the management greet you at your table and socialize with us was delightful.
We would highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
See you again next MAY!

We ate this wonderful meal that they had posted on a billboard out side. I wish I knew what it was called they took this big thing of cheese and lit it on fire and did all kinds of things and then had a pan of pasta and pour that in it and mixed it all up and then serviced our plates with it I wish they made that here in the US but if you ever find out what the name of it is let me know Aruba is a long ways to go eat some of that..

We had a great experience at this restuarant. Our food was good and it was a nice change of pace from the other food we had in Aruba. Our waitress was very friendly and had a great personality.

It is a little more pricey than an Olive Garden without the delicious bread sticks. If I returned to Aruba, I would definitely come back.

I'm shocked at these reviews. We LOVED Gianny's. Our extended family of 10 from NYC went twice the week we were there. The portions are small if you are used to american super-sized everything. However we were all full and had a little left-over. We all loved our food.

This is what I just sent to Gianni's
We dinned at your restaurant twice between May 5th - May 12th.

The first night we ate there the food & service was very good -- we had Shrimp Cocktail, Fried Calamari, Mussels ( for appetizers ) & Lobster over Pasta ( special ), Seafood with Pasta for dinner

The second night we were extremely disappointed. Since we enjoyed the Mussels the first night, 2 of us order them again, however, they were completely different than the first night. These were green, big and very tough to eat. We told Shannon ( he was our server -- I think I have his name correct ), and he said Yes, we are out of the small black ones and this is what we have. That was a unaccepted answer. Also, 2 of us order Scampi Gianni. When the meal came, we had 10 extremely SMALL SHRIMP ( not jumbo like the menu states ) which were hard and tasteless. Also, Shannon was SO BUSY, that we had to wave down anyone who past our table for additional drink's and water.

Scampi Gianni…..$27.50
Sautéed wild caught jumbo shrimps in fresh tomato sauce
with a touch of cream over bed of spaghetti

I'm writing to you with the hope that this experience could be rectified.

Thanks
Vinny Caramico

My wife and I have been to Aruba every year now for the past 14 years. On Wednesday nite 4/20 we along with my daughter,son-in-law and grand kids ate at this restaurant. I will not return. The food was not good, and was way over priced for what it was. Pasta was fresh "out of the box" and sauce just awful. We had six different entrees and they were all bad.

Having visited 7 reputable Restaurants on our 7 day trip to Aruba last week we have to say our least favorite was Gianni's. Our big Italian family (8 of us) were less than impressed with our main courses. Appetizers and salad were very good, however portions were small. Unfortunately 4 of us rushed back to our hotel rooms due to upset stomach shortly after. I'm thinking it was the food quality. Next time we'll skip this place

Hi there, I'm not a food critic i come from New York i was down in Aruba for 2weeks with my family had as always a great experience in Aruba.
What i don't understand why they advertise so much this place, during my stay i went 2 times both where bad and i still when i ask at the hotels or taxi driver they want to send us there why this?? when the food if you love Italian food i mean real Italian food home made style, this is not your place, the food does not even have taste at all no color no texture, sure the place is beautiful attractive and the smell you get before getting there is just to die for you think the food is going to be excellent when you see the place packed, to tell you the truth not even olive garden tastes this bad, and olive garden is nothing from good, there are plenty of other Italian restaurant that offer much better food around the island for example one that we went 5 times in our stay was Hostaria Da Vittorio the food there is just incredible!with his master chef Vittorio the food seems like your at home eating moms pasta! sure sometimes its crowded and your food can take a will but when you get the food it will melt in your mouth!! a must go when in Aruba in front of Hyatt and the pizzas are to die for! best on the island.... also another good OK Italian restaurant is sole mare cozy small but at leas better food than Giannis thank you very much hope this is a good information, I'm not saying not go to this restaurant but go and taste the other 2 i mention and see the difference

On the last night of our honeymoon my husband and I ate here and it was the best meal we had all week. We are both Italian and from new york. The food was spectacular, we got mussels in white wine which were so good that we wanted to drink the sauce and dipped all of our bread in it. He got the veal osso buco which he still raves over to this day as the best he's ever had. My four cheese gnocchi was excellent and the huge homemade cannoli we had for dessert was to die for. The only thing somewhat lacking was the slow service even though there were only a few tables of people there. We definitely plan on going back during our next trip. This is authentic italian food, and i believe that anyone who attempts to order chicken parm or spaghetti at an authentic italian restaurant is used to eating non-authentic american italian food, so they shouldn't be surprised at their own disappointment for ordering the most cliche "italian" dish possible.

Our first visit a few years ago we went with a large group they all wanted to go back & we were only in Aruba for 4 nights. But things have changed I'll be back in Aruba Feb 14 but I am sorry to say I will not return to Giannis again. Such a disappointment!!!!!!!

Best Italian restaurant on the island. We went there twice during this stay. We went there expecting it to be just average one night and it was great all around. There insalata mista is fresh and the dressing is homemade. There ceasar salad is perfect too. Their portions are also very generous. We had chicken parm and rigatoni arabiata both were amazing. Second time we had linguini with clams and spagetti both times we had the homemade chocolate salami dessert.. Again it was amazing. The service was great and prices are average for dinner on the island. We will definitely go back next time. If you want to sit outside make reservations.

If you are from the NY NJ area and have had the pleasure of eating real good Italian food, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. The Chicken Parm my aunt ordered looked more like Buffalo Chicken. The sauce was orange. The chicken was poorly cooked.

As the restaurant did not have one single beef dish I was told I could order my entree from Daniel's next door. What I got was by far the worst Lamb Chops I've ever had. I love lamb chops. The portion was terrific.....too bad I couldn't even finish one of them.

If you're from the MIdwest, Florida or anywhere else, you may love Gianni's. DIning outside is real nice, unless you're sitting near smokers. But NY/NJ residents......STAY AWAY. FAR AWAY.

It's hard to believe that Italian food could taste bad, but unfortunately it was. Three of the orders were just okay, but two of them were just plain horrible. This restaurant operated more like a factory than a restaurant.
