Excellent Italian Food, Service & Ambiance
My wife and I have been going to Hosteria DaVittorio for years and have never been disappointed. From the moment you are greeted at the door until the moment you leave, you are treated as though you are long-time friends. The staff service, friendliness and attentiveness, and food selection, freshness, quality and preparedness is exceptional. Our EggPlant Rollatina Appetizer was 'to die for' and a perfect start for two people. My Frutta de Mare over Linguini was excellent, as was my wife's Homemade Ravioli with Pomodora Sauce. And unlike many of the restaurants in Aruba, there is no Service Charge, making me you feel free to tip 'what' they deserve, and you 'will' be generous, I assure you. Also, the prices are reasonable. If you enjoy Italian food, service and atmosphere, I would highly recommend that you visit Hostaria DaVittorio on your next vacation in Aruba.
disappointed
Arrived on time for my reservation and rather than sit in the nice dining room my family was show a table in a smaller hot room just before the terrace. We all ordered
Chioken Parmagian and when our dishes arrived we were all
very disappointed.
The chicken seems to have been manufactured and shaped into an oval piece of meat. It was very thin, very hard and had little taste and was dry.
To top off our meal one of the waiters that night dropped a tray of wine glasses near us
World class food and service!
This is our favorite restaurant not only in Aruba, but on the planet.
I have followed Master Chef Vittorio for over ten years from Valentino's to Hostaria Da Vittorio. Every dish is prepared with high quality ingrediants by Vittorio and his assitants right in front of your eyes.
The servers are great and make you feel right at home.
Our favorite dish is Ossobucco Alla Milanesa, (a veal dish served with Rissoto) - it is to die for ! We will return to Aruba this summer and plan to dine at Hostaria Da Vittorio several times. Tony & Bonny Eastvale, California
Superb food!!!
yes,it's a little expensive but the quality is worth the price.
After reading the ads, and seeing the prices, I was expecting a more authentic Italian meal. We had the chef special for $28.00 which was packaged pasta (at that price I was expecting homemade egg based) with a good sauce, but overloaded with cheese, with a bit if basil. I would have had no issue at half the price, but feel they are over priced for what you get. Even the Parmesan is not fresh grated. The service was good
We agree this was OUR FAVORITE pace to eat after a week in aruba.
We chatted with other americans about where to eat in aruba and one couple from boston said they liked Hoastaria de Vittorio so much they have already been twice.
Does not look like much from the outside but inside the kitchen is visible.the staff had pressed white shirts and black pants. Ice cold water brought right to us with a special pizza crust like bread with oil as a free starter.
4 adults and (1) 3 year old ALL enjoyed a fantastic meal!
Yummy pasta, lasagna, chicken parm, and salads on top of great service made this our top pick. Yes, overpriced as are all the other placed in palm beach ( and aruba in general ) but well worth it!
Also 10% off to marriot point holders taken with a smile.
Every time we are in Aruba, we go here for dinner. It's the best Italian food on the island. I've sampled many dishes and all are excellent!
My wife and I had come here in May, 2011 and had an excellent meal, however this September was another story. We were anticipating another wonderful dinner and were disappointed in both our meals. We are not sure if their main chef is on vacation since this is a slow time of year but based on our dinners this week we would not return. Our waiter also tried to tell us the "service charge" which is included in your bill is not a part of his tip. It was a very disappointing experience.
Food is less than average, but what really surprised us was the rude attitude of our waiter. I ve heard some bad things and some great things about this restaurant. I agree completely with the bad reviews. they have a great location and could have a great restaurant, but they have to start with customer service. and they completely lack of it ! food was not bad, but as I said less than average. Nothing to come back to...
We dined at this restaurant 2 years ago and were so pleased, we visited twice. After reading the reviews, we were hesitant to try it again this year, but went and were extremely happy we did. The service was excellent, from the bar to the table. The food was wonderful - the Ossobucco and risotto was as perfect as we remembered. We were a party of 7 and had 2 small children. It couldn't have been a better meal!
Great Italian Food! Been going there for 10 years which accounts for 30 trips to this restaurant and always a great meal. Authentic Italian dishes, the food is always fresh and well prepared. They always remember who we are and go out of there way to make us happy.
We had never been disappointed at this restaurant - until this year! What once was an excellent Italian eatery has become a mediocre Italian eatery and we do not know why. Something was missing this year. The food was good but not "abondanza" and not great. We like to write such experiences off as bad nights, but part of the issue was that the menu has been unchanged for some time and some of the better dishes simply are no longer available
- UPDATE THE MENU and stop teasing people! It has been two years since we have been able to get sea bass here and that is not a simple unavailability - it is something else and we are concerned as to what it may mean. We will return next year to see how things are going but we were disappointed this year and greatly concerned as to what next year may bring. We sincerly hope that the restaurant is not in decline but we fear otherwise and it would be a shame to see it go because it has been the only consistently credible Italian restaurant in ARUBA.
There were 14 of us for dinner. We arrived for our 6:30 pm reservation and were promptly seated -- that's where things started going wrong. It took 20 minutes for us to receive a wine list -- one hour to receive our appetizers and 2 HOURS until we got our meals. Tables all around us were being served -- some who even arrived after us. When this was brought to the attention of a manager, we were told it takes time to cook "good food" ! No apologies, no "let me check on your orders" .... nothing. We got our dinner at 8:30 -- a full two hours after arriving!! When we said this was unacceptable and would probably not return, the manager promptly said that's OK, he does fine and doesn't need the repeat business. What a great way to talk to customers! So here I am, sharing this very unpleasant dining experience so others may think twice about giving them their business. With all the other great restaurants to choose from in Aruba -- we definitely will NEVER give Hostaria Da Vittorio our business again! NEVER!
We had a table of 8 and all 8 of us were very happy with our meals. We tried this restaurant 5 years ago and we were disappointed. This time, we were all very pleased! Our group had a mix of fish and pasta dishes. All arrived hot and tasty. We're going back next month and I'll report again.
On our last nite we decided just to walk across the street and eat here. We ate here 2 years ago and it was ok. My linguine was on the hard side once again. I don't like soft pasta but for some reason they just don't cook it long enough. I had it with Shrimp and hot sauce which was very good. My husband had the Lasagne..had to send back since it wasn't hot enough. Don't know if I would return.
We have been going to Aruba for the last 10 years. We eat here at least 3 or 4 nights during our 1 week stay. It is an amazing restaurant. We are Italian and the food could not be more authentic, like nonna used to make!! We have recommended this restaurant to everyone we know who goes to Aruba and all have been pleased with it. We will be in Aruba on the 15th of August and we plan to eat there on our first night!
We went for dinner without reservation but inspite the place was full the maitre 'd accomodated us very quick by seating us at the bar in await for our table
Service might had been a bit slow at the beginning but picked up after our apetiser arived
both apetisers and main dishes were fabulous
Compliment to Victorio
You made our anniversay dinner top.
The food was very good. The environment excellent and we found the service was quite good as well. Your listing as not a place to visit is absurd. We ate there twice in five days and the lasagna was not as good the second time as the first, but is was still quite good and everything else was excellent. It was the best food we had on the island and the staff was very welcoming without being obsequious. I recommend it to anyone.
the food was delicious. we decided to try some new restaurants on this trip (instead of our old favorites) and this was one of the best. the service was excellent. the food was actually tasty. even the bread was good.
and strega was available! we will definitely return.
MAMA MIA - for Italian food, this is the place to go. In ARUBA there is a store called THE BOB THE FISH STORE - whose products are based on a fictitious character, BOB THE FISH. BOB'S claim to fame is that he champions the seas and that he has been successful in doing so because of ATTITUDE. HOSTARIO DI VITTORIO is the BOB of ITALIAN FOOD in ARUBA - excellent food served up with a bit of ATTITUDE (and would you really expect less from an ITALIAN eatery). They are really good and they know it and they show it. FOOD is delicious and service impeccable - don't argue with them - let them take you on a culinary gondola treat of a meal. The place is what ITALIAN should be all about -let them make you a meal that you can't refuse. Their location and view may not be the best - but that should not be a deterrent to the delights inside. If you want to be pampered go to MATHILDE'S or some place similar - if you want the best ITALIAN food on the ISLAND, go here and suck it up as to their attitude - they have earned and deserve the attitude - it's ITALIAN at its best. There are some other good Italian places in ARUBA, but this place takes the cake or should that be the tiramisu hands down. Their OSSO BUCCO can't be beat and their SEA BASS in SALT is done to perfection. This place is worthy of all the superlatives that can be given any restaurant and it is consistent. For the culinary expert, sitting inside and watching the various dishes be prepared by the CHEF is an enjoyable evening of entertainment in itself that you cannot find anyplace else - there are other open kitchens, but none like here. Don't want to sit inside - then there is both an inside and outside terrace or veranda. Wherever you choose to sit the service will be attentive and the food will be great. The menu is quite diverse and several visits each time we go to ARUBA is usually the standard. GO - ENJOY (both the food and the attitude).
I have been going here for the past three years and each visit has been consitent. Good food and freindly and attentive staff. Not sure what all the negative press is about but it is worth a visit. Less chaotic that Gianni's
My husband and I came here on our Honeymoon in 2007 and loved it. We were a little nervous to come back this past visit because of the bad reviews. For setimental reasons, we decided to come anyways and it was still great. We don't understand the bad reputation. The salads were fresh, the sauce was clearly homemade, and the portions were generous. This is coming from a couple who has been to Italy. The staff is pleasant; they are not over the top friendly, but they give you your privacy while still attending to your needs, which is the kind of service we prefer. Maybe we just got lucky, but we were very happy with our experience there and we will return.
Have been to this place a few times before.Recently 12/1-8 we went there again & will not return.I had a shrimp cocktail with only 3 shrimp that were butterflyed to give better plate coverage, the cost $ 13.50.I also had chicken parm @ $ 22.00.Maybe it was an 8oz breast at most with a small serving of some vegetables.Overpriced and we will not return.
Horrible Horrible Horrible. We have been coming to Aruba for 10 years. We tried this restaraunt for the first 4 years and liked it. Our final year there we had 3 children with us ranging in age from 3 to 7. They wait staff was rude to the children; it was obvious they are not kid friendly - hello?? Aruba One Happy Island? Not here! We decided to give it a shot last night after a 5 year hiatus....YIKES...my pasta could only be described as Chef boy ar dee. If you are from NY/NJ/ PA and truly KNOW good italian food - this is NOT the place for you! We have yet to find a good Italian restaurant here. but this is not the place for Italian...go for seafood, steak, hibachi, etc.
If my wife and I go nowhere else on our annual visit to Aruba it is to Hostaria. Incomparable to anything else on the island and consistent since the day it opened.
