Good meal and good vantage point

Went here our last night in aruba (friday night) and found a balcony seat for the shows at the mall. Was fun watching the shows and people watching afterwards. Had drinks, appetizer, meal and desert. All were good and waitress was very attentive even know all tables were full. Just a good time and food is well preportioned and not that expensive for aruba standards. As stated by another review this food is american/mexican and not authentic mexican which is ok by me.

Wanted to eat there our first night in Aruba, for their Wednesday all-you-can-eat special. We were there at opening time and doors were locked. Wait staff was visible upstairs, but would not answer or open the door.

Did some shopping and came back 20-30 minutes later and they were still not open for business. We ended up eating down the street.

Went back with friends (against our desires) several days later. Opened several minutes late and then after being seated, wait staff was having their own little party in the corner and didn't wait on us for 5-10 minutes.

We did stay, over my objection, for a average meal.

Drinks were tastless and watered down. For the same price at TGIF you get a strong, tasting drink.

STAY AWAY....let them close.

If you like authentic Mexican, DO NOT visit this restuarant. The food is Americanized Mexican food. It was also pretty expensive for Mexican food in my opinion...my chicken quesadilla was $16 US.

They don't give complimentary chips and salsa, it is like $6 US and you don't get free refills on salsa so watch out on how much you put on each chip, wish I would have know that before we started eating.

The service was slow for a Mexican restuarant. The waiter was not very attentive although I am sure some of the other wait staff was better or people wouldn't return.

We have kids so we asked if we can get extra plate and share the dinner with kids. The waiter did not have any problem. Then the girl who brought food told one of the kid (not an adult) that if she shares the food, they will charge for it. Very rude. I asked for the manager who was sitting at bar. He came, listened to what I had to say and went back to the same seat on the bar without apologizing. We had great experience with Aruban people till this incident.

Very average meal in comparison to the other "Iguana" restaurants on Aruba. Avoid the Churrasco steak. Tasteless and over-cooked. Yes its inexpensive by Aruba standards, but the attraction stops there. Eat at Iguana Joe's or Smokey Joe's and skip this place!!!

We've been to a different restaurant for each meal we've had on Aruba, and this meal was easily the worst - The food was practically flavorless and the service was the least attentive we've had in Aruba.

Ate there on Mar 16th. Waited 20 min to be seated. Hostess was also responsible for bussing the tables. Trying to be in two places at one time doesn't work. Our waitress was covering too many tables. Wife had the beef burrito - enjoyed it. I had the ultimate Fajita - was quite bland with small tortillas and little guacomole. Very bland. One small glass of red house wine was $6.95. It tasted like it was turning to vinegar. I mentioned it to the waitress and she looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. nothing taken off the bill. Total was $48.

Sadley this was our worse experience in Aruba, the restaurant was short staffed and not prepared for a busy dinner time. We waited for over an hour for our food which came cold and dry. The manager was completely oblivious to his surroundings and our waiter/bartender was in another planet, their chaotic order was frightening. We waited patiently thinking it will be ok but it wasn't and it was the most disappointing evening. Sorry for the bad review.

This is the most generic "mexican" food you can find. If you are used to decent mexican food- skip this restaurant. Yes, the staff is friendly and the view is lovely but the prices are not worth the very avergage food.

This was my first visit to Iguana Catina, and I have to say that it was one of the best dining experience on the island. Plain and simple food made with perfection, staffs were great help and suggested us to order the ribs, which were out of this world. I am very happy that I visited this restaurant, and will for sure visit again.

Highly recommended

This restaurant is what's commonly known as a "dive." I felt the Iguana Cantina was a little out of place in the modern upscale and trendy Paseo Herencia mall area. First of all to get up to the cantina you have to climb a lot of stairs and walk past a shabby entrance that looks like it is completely falling apart. I nicked my arm on something sharp as I was entering. The entrance is so bad most people can't even tell if it is the entrance or not. If you are in a wheelchair there is an elevator of sorts which looks more like an open service elevator. Personally I'm glad I didn't need to ride in it and I'm not sure if it is even working. There is a dingy bar area that I walked past on my way to the table.

The food was not great and the presentation was horrible. If not for the incredible view of the water show below this place would be completely terrible. I'm sure there has to be much better places for Mexican food in Aruba.

From beginning to end...awful!! We were craving mexican food. It is not at this restaurant. Ordered grouper that was fried mush, chicken tacos that looked like tyson chicken strips, diablo shrimp that tasted rubbery. When we complained about the fish and requested another dish the manager was irritated and literally got into my husbands face and said he looked at it with the chef and there was nothing the matter with it. Taco bell would have been better. Thankfully we were able to get another meal at the sushi place across the pool. They were excellent with service and presentation.
