Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

I can't understand how Madame Janette slipped out of the top 10. Perhaps it's just a matter of this great restaurant running its course and some new guys getting the attention. We've gone here several times, dating back at lest 10 years. They've gotten bigger and a lot busier but, the food has remained top-notch. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone. If I could, I'd stuff the ballot box so I could get Madame Janette back to th #1 slot. Go there. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Our waiter "Buddy Holly" was professional and also very entertaining. Met Chef Kasi (Hope you have a great time in Miami). Our dinner at your restaraunt was the highlight of our vacation. Told anyone that would listen at Playa Linda about our excellent experience. See you again next time !

My family and I have been going to Aruba for ten years and always eat at Madame Jeanettes once every visit. I made reservations for dinner on a Tuesday night at 8:oo pm. When we arrived we were seated promptly and then the wait began! It took 35 minutes for our waiter to meander over to our table. At that time we gave our drink order and then waited another 25 minutes for them to arrive. The waiter at that point left the drinks and came back some time later to take our order. It seems like evrything was in slow motion. The busperson was nice and kept filling our water glasses and bringing us bug spray cause we were being eaten alive buy mosquitos. Then at one point the waiter {Jorge] and the busboy and girl got into an argument. They didn't try to even keep it quiet as we heard every word. Finally after another long wait the food arrived which was good. After we were done and dishes cleaned up we were asked if interested in dessert. Two at our table went for it, [against our better judgement] and again the wait began...to make a long story short, I understand the restaurant was busy but this waiting was extreme to say the least. Next year we most certainly will not be going to this restaurant. In all ten night we went out to dinner this was the only dissapointment we had!

We dined here in August 2009 and January 2010. We were in the back garden in August and near the music in January. The food, service, ambiance and music were all wonderful both times. It is a beautiful restaurant with a large menu and a joyous atmosphere. Both experiences were wonderful, we will return.

We dined at Madame Janette's on March 10, 2010. The restaurant is in a neighborhood not far from the high rise hotels. We were seated in the garden which was nice and noticed that the restaurant was packed. Although we had eaten there previously on another trip I don't remember the tables as close and so many people--it was very noisy.
Our meals were good, a "Grouper Special" and an "Argentine Steak with Shrimp." Service was slow, understandable for number of people there. Music was a duo that sang James Taylor type music--did not fit the surroundings and not lively enough--boring.
This meal was very expensive. There are so many excellent restaurants in Aruba with gorgeous settings, excellent food and upbeat music this restaurant has a real challenge. Not sure we would go back as it was disappointing.

Ate here for years and was very good but the last time was our swansong. Sat in the back and it was very hot. My sister ordered crabcakes. When she received them, giant long black hairs had been baked into one of the cakes. She actually picked it up by both ends with hair and it swung in the air like a necklace!!!!!!! I kid you not! We were sickened by this. Were not charged and sent us over dessert. Thoughtful but the damage was done. Never again.

My wife and I finally gave in to all the recommendations to dine here. We were pretty disappointed. It started right with the appetizers. One of the specials was Chirizo. When ordering it, we were informed they were out of that - we were the first seating of the night. My wife's Skirt steak was tasty, but my filet mignon, although tender, was dry as a bone. Not a single dripping on the plate.
The potatos gratin was very good, as was the Swiss chocolate mousse.
The outside dining is nice, but have a stray cat jump on my wife's leg does not add to the atmosphere.
