Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

Once again we had outstanding meals and great service. The large portions are great because you can take home enough for another full meal. This is one of our top 2 on the Island and is a must do.

We have eaten here 6 times and have always loved it. Last evening was a disappointment. If you get a waitress named April - ask for someone else. Drink orders were very slow; she told us that the bartender was inexperienced and that the regular bartender was on vacation. My drink came and it tasted like soap. The replacement drink did also. I could not drink it, but I was charged anyway. The duck was excellent, but the side order of creamed spinach was cold. The waitress did not have a clue about waitressing or how to please a customer. We will not be back.

I've read just about every review on this site for this restaurant and was almost persuaded not to give it a shot. Luckily we kept our reservation! The food was very good and the waitstaff was exceptional. Don't believe the negativity about this restaurant...I just don't buy it. My thought is that some people would just prefer to go to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe every night in order to save a buck. If that's your idea of exploring Aruba then this isn't the place for you. I do agree that it seems to be tucked into a strange little neighborhood that is not nearly as upscale as the restaurant itself, but once inside the fence line the property is very nice and clean. Oh, and if there is such a thing as getting your money's worth for desert at restaurants you'll be happiest with Madame Janette. The portions are good which is not common. This is a don't miss stop in Aruba!

We have been coming to Aruba for 6 years now and by far the best place to eat is here. The food is always relatively consistant and the deserts (oh baby). If you have never been, it is a must. By the way go casual and be comfortable this place is very cool in the evenings.

We went twice to MJ on our JAN-FEB 2008 vacation. We had been once while on our Mar 2007 and wished we had gone more often.

We made on line reservations through their web site. I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary and would like a quite table in a corner. We arrived at 6:30 PM for a 7:00 PM reservation and were seated almost immediatley at a quite table in a corner. When one of our servers appeared, she brought us glasses of complimentary champaign which just shocked us and said HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, compliments of management.

Well, it just got better and better.

We had wonderful meals (as we had the year before) and desert was fabulous.

Service was good if not great.

The menu may seem limited, but the food is tops. You SHOULD be able to find something to eat that you will like.

It MAY be a LITTLE PRICEY, but this is ARUBA afterall and eating out is NOT CHEAP, bit this place is not outrageous.

I have read MANY of the other reviews. We did NOT experience the STRAY CATS roaming at our feet or the IGUANNAS roaming around. As for the flies? We did not experience them, but this is an OUTSIDE restaurant...sometimes flies are there, BUT, mamagement SHOULD have addressed the matter toot sweet.

We personally thought the ambiance was pleasant, not like someone's back yard.

The music came on just as we were preparing to leave and it did NOT seem loud. IT was a few pieces and a singer who all seemed to keep things under control.

We are going back to Aruba in a couple of weeks and we already have reservations for TWO VISITS.

Can't WAIT.

Just got back from dinner. Easily the best meal my wife & I can recall in a long time. Excellent service and atmosphere. The prices, although high, are not out of line for Aruba. This is one place that really lives up to the hype and all of the recommendations it received from other guests staying at our hotel.

There were 6 of us who ate dinner here on a Friday evening. We all ordered something different and there were no complaints on anyone's food. The Cordon Bleu was recommended by our waitress and it was delicious. The grouper on special was fantastic as well. And the gianni versace (filet w/ lobster) was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant not only for the food but for wonderful outside seating and great atmosphere.

We just returned from a week in Aruba. While there we dined at Madame's twice. After the first visit, my husband was hooked and so we ate there again on our last night. The service varies but was good both times. The quality of the food and the portions are wonderful. Go Hungry!!! The prices are also very reasonable. Will definitely go back if we ever return to Aruba.

Seeing as how we eat here every time we visit Aruba, we decided to have the rehearsal dinner for our wedding here on Nov 7th, 2008. They entire staff was fantastic! They easily handled our party of 35 with little to no problems. Our party wanted for nothing. The guests talked about how much they loved the food here until they went back to New York. We will see be back in Nov 2009 for our one year anniversary.
