Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

This is the boiling point. It’s packed so you rather make a reservation way ahead. The food is excellent. The dishes have funny names and make really nice creations. I’m not too familiar with wines and went for the wine suggestions – good move. The portions are so huge that it’s hard to leave space for dessert. But you should. We’ll go again.

Before you read the review, we are not one of the difficult families that is never pleased. We have submitted perfect reviews for restaurants. There is SO much hype over Madame Janette that we wanted to share our experience. Despite having reservations well in advance, we were seated at a horribel, downhill, uneven table in the corner. The tables are outdoors and there was NO air moving in our corner. I was so hot (and no I am not overweight) that I was miserable. The menu had a surprsingly limited selection and was more pricey than most other places on the island. The food was average and not worth the premium charged. In fairness to them, one family member ordered the steak special and raved that it was one of the best ever tasted. The server humiliated one of our members when he asked for a preparation special request (that was not too difficult to accomplish) and we were shocked by this treatment. For the price and uncomfortable outside environment, we can't recommend this as one of the stops on a week long trip.

We just came back from Aruba on August 1st. On our last night there we ate at Madame Janette, it was outstanding!! I had the almond grouper and my husband had the butcher steak and both dishes were outstanding. We split the dessert Mama Jamaica - very very good! We also were fortunate enough to have a waiter from the Netherlands who was such a pleasure. I wish I could there every night - only if it were closer.
Absolutely the best restaurant during our stay!!

Madame Janette is the only restaurant we have ever been so unhappy with that we walked out before the wine was opened. We made a reservation before going to Aruba. We arrived at the appointed time and thought the restaurant setting was beautiful. We ordered an $80 bottle of wine and just as the waitress brought it, the music started. There are speakers mounted all over the restaurant and the music was so loud that it was oppressive and interfered with conversation. We asked the waitress if the volume could be turned down and after she went away and inquired, she informed us that because it was live music, it could not be turned down. This was rubbish, because the volume on any amplification system can of course be turned down. We then asked to be seated at a quieter table. After she again inquired, she led us to another table adjacent to another speaker where the music was as loud. So we left. On the way out, we said to the maitre d' that the music was way too loud so we were leaving. He said that they had quieter tables and we said we had asked for one and it had been no better. I wouldn't go back to Madam Janette's on a bet, no matter how good they think their food is.

Pfffffft he lucht.

Had high expectations for this restuarants based on the reviews therefore, I made my reservations online 3 weeks prior to our arrival. When we arrived it was very crowded with many people waiting to be seated, however we were seated right away due to the fact that we had a reservation. We were put in the corner against the fence. I order the lobster raviolli special and my husband ordered the crabcake appetizer. The ravioli had one piece of lobster meat and was greasy. I tasted my husbands crabcakes and there wasn't any real crabmeat in it. Our waitress was terrbile. We felt like we were on the pay no mind list. It took my husband 20 minutes to get another drink, 20 minutes to get our check. She took my wine glass away when it was half full and did not ask me if I was finished. I asked for extra napkins that I never got, and she was not very friendly. Our main entrees were slightly above average at best. My husband and I would probably not return to this restaurant based on the service.

We never skip Mme Janette's! Ate there again on July 16th! Almond Grouper for my wife and The Old Butcher Steak for me! WOW on both counts. With a coupla drinks, a shared appitizer, coffe and a dessert for me... the total bill came to under $90. Considering the atmosphere, live entertainment and the 5 star food... this is a huge bargain. Highly recommended. See you again next year!

I have dined all over the world and rate Madame Janette as one of the BEST dining experiences a couple can have!- Their MEat is from Argentina unlike the US cuts we get in the states and the Fish- GRouper was the best fish I have had in a very long time! Almond crusted and in a brandy sauce!
Never mind wasting an 80 dollar ride to Flying Fishbone where the scenery of breathtaking but the food is just OK! A MUST FOR ANYONE THAT VISITS ARUBA! Michael & Silvia Ecke NYC USA
