Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

My mother and I ate here on March 3rd and from the moment we walked in, loved it. Great ambiance and setting. The food was great. Mom had the lobster ravioli appetizer and raved, I had the potato soup. For our main course, mom had the filet topped with lobster and I had the cordon blue. Both meals were delicious. This is my first time to MJ, but my 5th to the island. I will definitely recommend MJ's to others.

My wife and I both had two of the best meals we ever had dining out, even at home (USA). About two months ago I thought I had the best salmon dish ever, but this salmon was even better. My wife had the surf & turf and we both rated it very high, especially the butter sauce on the steak. This was the best dinner during our first-time visit to Aruba. A must place to dine...

This was the best restaurant that we went to on our stay. The singer was fabulous and our table was centered almost right in front of her. The crabcakes were amazing and our dinners were just to die for (Curry Shrimp and one of ther specials that night)- Dessert was the chocolate souffle and the coconut cake - both very good. We were VERY happy with this restaurant- so much so that we told my family about it and they had been going to Aruba for 30 years and have never been. They went once and went back the next night bc they loved it so much and put it on their list for the future. Coming from Chicago it is hard to travel somewhere else and find a truly "great" restaurant - this is definitely one of my favs now and I can't wait to visit again next year. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. :)

I can not say enough good about the food and service here. This is the best food on the Island PERIOD!!! If you have missed eating here you have missed a great and memorable meal. In our 5 week stay every year - we make this a must at least twice a week. Can't wait for next year.

My wife and I go to Aruba once a year for vacation. We make a point of dinning at Madame Janette's twice during our 10 day stay. We find the food and service superior. If you go in May, the height of the white asparagras season you will be delighted at the taste of a rare treat. I love the Seabass and my wife goes for the Lamb Chops. The portions are very generous which leaves little room for their spectacular deserts, so save a little room for desert. The price is very reasonable and all the staff very friendly. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time as Madame Janette's is a very popular restaurant.

Great atmosphere with nice wait staff. The food was good (but nothing to rave over). I had a grouper with a tomato like sauce which was pricey but good. My husband had the salmon which was tasteless fish masked by a tasty sauce. Not worth the cost in his opinion. We had Belgium Chocolate cake for dessert (which the waiter brought the wrong dessert out- we wanted the special) We didn't complain because the cake was our second choice. Overall the atmosphere was better than the food. I would recommend it for 1st time visitors but wouldn't go back for a second visit.

Four of us recently ate here the week of January 27th. Two visits were planned in advance. Seating was upon arrival with a reservations. So good the first time that it took me 15 minutes to find my group as they sat while I parked.

The onions and bread to start are a favorite of ours as isthe potato leek soup.

Outstanding food were the reviews from the table. Two grouper dishes, a filet and a lamb dish. All done perfect.

Second night was three tenderloin dishes and a Halibut dish for me.Three thumbs up Didn't love the halibut as it was mooshy, but it was more than acceptable. Had the waiter not highly reccommended it, I'd have probably not gotten it.

Two minor dissapointments. Our head waitress the first night could not have been more disinterested in assisting us. Perhaps this was because we weren't ready to order when she wanted. This seemed to bother her. The other was the 35 minutes to get a chocolate souffle the second night. It was outstanding though.

I'd highly reccommend a visit. We'll be back next year. The almond encrusted Grouper is worth the trip alone.

2/4/2008 Returned for the sixth time to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. Without a doubt still the best on the island. A very special dinner for a very special occasion. They deserve all the awards they get.
