Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

We heard there is a two week reservation time for Madame Janette's- we had no problem reserving a table for two the same day for November 10th. Loved the ambiance and the entertainment! The staff is very helpful and friendly. We heard about the huge servings, so we decided to incur the $7 charge and split a salad, surf and turf and dessert. Maybe a tad too much dressing on the salad for my taste, but my husband loved it. The shrimp, lobster and steak were excellent! My chocolate souffle however, was burnt. I am only an amateur baker, but was very disappointed with the dessert, although the almond ice cream it came with was very good. My advice, skip dessert and have an after dinner drink!

WE WERE IN ARUBA FOR 2 WEEKS IN OCTOBER. OUR CAB DRIVER RECOMMENDED MADAME JEANETTES. AFTER TRYING 3 TO 4 RESTAURANTS THAT WE HAD PRE BOOKED WE TRIED M. JEANETTE AND FOUND IT THE BEST OF ALL. OUR FOOD WAS COOKED PERFECTLY. THE BUTCHER STEAK , SURF AND TURF WERE TENDER AND LG PORTION. MOM HAD THE RACK OF LAMB AND IT WAS COOKED PINK IN THE MIDDLE AND JUICY OUTSIDE. THE CHICKEN COUR D BLEUR WAS THE BEST FOR ME. THE CHOCOLATE SUFFLE WAS A MUST AND WE SHARED IT BETWEEN 2 PERSON. WE ATE THERE 3 TIMES DURRING OUT STAY AND LOOK FORWARD TO GOING BACK NEXT YEAR. SERVICE WAS BUSY AND THE ONLY TIME WE HAD TO WAIT WAS FOR OUR CHECK TO LEAVE .. WE WERENT IN A HURRY IN ARUBA!

Everyone raves about this restaurant, but my experience was disappointing. I ordered the Kobe beef appetizer and there was NO marbling in the beef at all and it was slightly overcooked. To the contrary, the rack of lamb was ordered medium rare, but arrived almost raw. The server was confused about who got what and got the side dishes wrong. The chocolate mouse was very good, though the portion size was enought to feed three. The person taking the payment asked "do you need change" which is totally inappropriate in any restaurant, but inexcusable in a fine one.

My husband and I go every October to Aruba and it's a MUST to go to Madame Janette's. The food is beyond and abundant. The atmosphere is charming. Last year we went twice during our stay. I highly recommend it. Looking forward to our return.

first visit to aruba. went on the suggestion of many people. loved the decor and my rack of lamb was the best i have ever had. my husband had the tenderloin(argentinean) said not tender or juicy ....we have decided that argentinean beef is overrated. but not madame janette's. the best of all restaurants we ate in...........

My husband and I enjoyed our 25th anniversary on Aruba, and dined at many fabulous restuarants, thanks to RestaurantsAruba. Madame Jannettes was by far the best for food and service. The Mushroom puff pastry appetizer was to die for. This place was sooo good we dine there our last night also. The only complaint, was the matre'd/host/hostess had a "greater than thou" type of attitude. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation, and were told they would try to seat us at what was available... there were many open tables, October is obviously not the busy season on Aruba. The second night we tried to make a reservation late, and were told, the earliest available was 9:00 p.m. but walkins were about a half hour wait. We decided to go, it was a 10 minute wait and the host/hostess attitude was almost enough to get me to turn around, but I knew the food was worth putting up with their attitude. The other staff, waiters/waitresses etc. are outstanding and pleasant.

Our last dinner on the island which made for a perfect ending. Setting was excellent - live guitar and singer. Apps, dinner, and dessert were all very good. Very big portions so go hungry. Staff was friendly and created a great evening for us. Go early or stay late for a drink at the bar.

We ate here twice during our last trip. Each time we had friends join us. Everything about our dinners at MJ's was memorable. The service was excellent and the food - appetizers, main courses and desserts were all superior. It's gratifying to bring new people to MJs and have everyone agree that it is so good. Eating outdoors in their lovely garden with live musicians is an added treat.
