Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

Came back after a couple of years away because of poor food and service, but looks like they have recovered and are again one of the best on the island.

Always our favorite!! I tried the almond encrusted grouper and John had the filet mignon. Both were excellent! I had au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach and John had the roasted potatoes. I have never had anything bad there, even the coffee was great and loved the bread. We got to meet Chef Kasi and that was a real treat. I with Madame Janettes was in Pittsburgh, I would have to eat there every week!!

Very nice ambience. Best for food of any place we went. Pricey, but if you’re going to splurge, do it here. Only down side: the night we ate here, the trade winds had died down and the island was hot -- even at night. The restaurant had placed fans throughout to keep the air circulating. Call ahead and make a reservation -- you'll get a better table. People always have problems finding Madame Janette's. Here's how you find it: Travel across the island (as opposed to up and down). Have the beach in back of you, and Adventure Golf on the right. Go straight. Look for the sign, and turn right. It's taken me years to figure this out. If you go this way, it's simple.

We stayed on the island 4 nights and this was my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is very romantic and beautiful. You walk on white pebbles and are seated there. You're also sitting near trees and they are all lit up. Very elegant. They also have a singer too. I've read reviews where it's too hot. We sat under a fan and we were fine. We ordered the crab and shrimp appetizer and then I had the breaded snapper with a lobster potato salad which was outstanding. The portions are very big. For dessert I had the vanilla ice cream with blueberry sauce which again was excellent. The service was very good and I highly recommend this restaurant. I would definitely go back again.

This is a must go restaurant when you are in Aruba. The atmosphere will let you know you are on a carribean vacation. The food is excellent. The portions are very large so be sure to come hungry. The salad will feed four people with ease. The Pork Cord En Bleu is hugh and delicious. Be sure to order their special potatoes with your meal. Try to leave room for desert if you can.

Ate here 2 times on both my last visits. Food was wonderful everytime, service seemed to be the spotty area to me. I recommend reservations and be clear about wanting an outdoor table if the temp warrants it, the overhang area can get kind of warm.
Highly recommend the Grouper if you are a seafood lover beware though it is a very large portion esp with the sides of potato's (which are too die for) for meat lovers the Filet Special I think its named after Johnny Versacci
Save room for dessert and alittle Madame Janette Coffee drink!

Really looked forward to this dinner as it has received so many good reviews. First of all it is not easy to find the restaurant partly due to a road closure that would be the easy route. Go when it is daylight to find it easier if you have not been there. Although we were late they had no problem saving our table. My shrimp casserole was very good but rather rich . I ordered the augratin potatoes with it and wished that it had been recommended by the wait staff to order rice or pasta to mix with the cheese sauce of the shrimp to help cut the richness of the dish. I ended up taking half home as it was to rich for one serving.
My husband ordered surf and turf . He was disapointed in the lobster as it was tough with little flavor and probably overcooked. My daughter ordered french fries which were very good. Although they did not have ranch dressing which the first waitress did not tell us when she ordered it with her fries , another waitress did her best to accomodate by bringing a bernaise, cucumber , and side of ketchup for her. Our meal took extremely long to be served. We waited at least 45 minutes if not longer. The diet coke my daughter ordered was $2 with about 3oz of liquid in the cup and was not a free refill which did not sit well. Prices were reasonably in line with Aruba pricing and the atmosphere including the singe was very nice.

WE WENT HERE 7/23/05 ON RECOMENDATIONS OF FRIENDS AND REVIEWS. WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED. THE WORST THING WERE THE BUG BITES
WE GOT THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE THERE.(MY SON COUNTED 16) AND IT MADE THE WHOLE MEAL MISERABLE. NO INDOOR SEATING OR AIR CONDITIONING. TOOK FOREVER TO GET DRINKS AND REFILLS. STEAKS WERE EITHER DONE TOO WELL OR NOT ENOUGH(SENT ONE BACK 3 TIMES TO COOK.) 4 MEALS WITH LOBSTER ALL OVERCOOKED AND CHEWY. THE ONE VERY GOOD THING WAS THE CEASER SALAD
