The Yum DIary Visited Marandi!

Gorgeous sunset view? Check. Unique atmosphere? Check. Amazingly delicious cocktails? You bet. Did I mention the food? Oh. My. Goodness.

On the wonderful island of Aruba, Marandi is an open-air palapa hut located directly above the ocean. It took only a short drive from the main hotel area to get there, which was great. I loved that it was close by but you still felt like you were getting away and enjoying the peaceful seaside.

The restaurant definitely had a relaxing and tropical vibe but maintained sophistication. I especially loved how the handful of staff were working together. The bartender delivered our drinks with a smile and the courteous waitresses ensured we were well taken care of.

For an appetizer we ordered the Ocean Salad : mixed greens, fresh fish, crispy vegetables, lemon mayonnaise. "Fresh fish" is an understatement. This was an amazingly inspiring dish that I wish I could recreate at home. Under the fish and greens was the most delicious tuna-like salad....It was like a hidden treasure!

I wanted seafood for dinner. Our table was literally over the waterwhy wouldnt I get fish?!? But the Chicken Rouleau kept jumping out at me. It was worth it. Hands down THE best chicken dish I have ever had.

We spent one of our first nights in Aruba on a sunset cruise where we met a lovely couple who travel to Aruba often. Immediately I asked them where we needed to eat. They named many of the same restaurants that had already been recommendedand then the mrs. sighed and said, Marandi. Sold. Consider this review my sigh, fly to Aruba, and go. Dont forget the martini!

Highly Recommended

This restaurant only gets better. We visit Aruba twice a year, since 1992. We found Marandi when it was at their old location, and moved with them to this (even better) location. Last year we had a bad experience, but we wanted to give them another chance. And GLAD we did. Even way better then our last 'nice' experience. They have a new chef, and he prepares outstanding dishes. The Lamb was amazing (could not finish it and took it with me), as well as the Fisherman's choice. For appetizers we ordered the Marandi Marble, WOW, and the smoked Mahi Mahi, double WOW. The desserts are served very original; in a glass, and they are all named like cocktails, and have the same ingredients as the cocktail, but then as dessert. Very original. The manager was also new to us, and she was so welcoming and friendly, and took her time to talk to us and other guests, while checking if everybody is enjoying their evening. Also our waitress was great, very attentive but not t much. We had a geat night, and we are SO happy we gve them another try, we would have been missing out. Hands down for Marandi. See you in November.

Best sunset ever seen

A wonderful place to enjoy delicious dinner, awesome view and good service. It is a little bit hard to find, if that is your case, drive from Oranjestad to San Nicolas, turn right on Balashi Plant, then turn right on WEB Aruba Power and Water Plant, drive about two miles and find Marandi on left. May be you can be bothered by annoying mosquitos, but don't worry, your kind waiter will assist you with spray repellent. Bring your camera because you will have the perfect place to take the best sunset photos you could take in Aruba.

Very Nice Spot

We just visited Marandi for the second time; our first visit was three years ago. It is the most beautiful restaurant we've visited in five trips to Aruba. My husband is an architect and really loves the design of this spot. The service is excellent and very attentive. Also, they are willing to provide child-size portions of dishes on the main menu, which are more affordable and a nice option for older kids who want something off the "adult" menu but may not have the appetite for that much food yet. The veggie salad I had was excellent. My husband had the swordfish and I had the mahi-mahi; both were good. The main reason to go to this restaurant is the atmosphere however - absolutely gorgeous! We will visit again on our next trip to Aruba.

This was our second visit to Marandi's, and we thought it could never be as good as the first time -- but it was even better! The most romantic restaurant on the island with a view that makes it worth it to go earlier than you would normally go to dinner. Try the Duo Bucanti with the limoncello dessert! They were fabulous!!

This is our favorite restaurant in Aruba. The ambiance is amazing the food is to die for and the staff are outstanding because they bend over backwards to please! We have returned for a 5th year in row and couldn't imagine a trip to Aruba without at least one reservation to this restaurant each year. They bend over backwards to make your dining experience most enjoyable. This past visit even though they had changed their menu they made an old favorite of ours upon our special request! They personalized it by mentioning it when we arrived! Trust me we will be dining at the Mirandi year after year!

I have to say that Mirandi has been and continues to be my favorite place to dine on the island. The service is professional and prompt. My meals are enjoyable and always more than what I expected. I have brought along other couples to experience this out of the way hidden treasure and all have felt the same way. I come from the business as well as my company, all have worked within the food trade back home in the states and recognize a great place to be. My only hesitation, is rating this place as I high as I have, I will end up not being able to get a reservation anymore with the long line at the door.

Marandi USED to be one of our favorite restaurants, however, I'm sorry to say it's no longer on our list to visit. We were with a party of 9 last week and not one in our party enjoyed their meal. The menu is very limited compared to what it used to be and the food quality was not up to our expectations. Sorry, Marandis, whatever you did, it didn't work for us -

This is our 6th year in a row making Marandi our only "must go to" restaurant. Fabulous place to watch the sunset, with spectacular water-side seating and food & service that was wonderful (as always). This is a great place to have a romantic dinner, or just to have a wonderful dinner with friends or family. Looking forward to returning again next year (and maybe even again this year)!

The View is wonderful, but food is not worth the overly high prices. Left feeling hungry and ripped off. Small portions, our guest's fish was overcooked, the chicken dish was wrapped in undercooked bacon.
My advice, Dine somewhere else.
