Matthew's Beachside Restaurant

The atmosphere is great but we were very disappointed in the food. The guides all say that it is moderately priced but our bill was $75 before tip and we had no alcohol or desert. The portions were OK but the taste was very bland compared to all the rest of the restaurants we have eaten in during our stay.

Great food, great ambience, very reasonable for the quality and taste. nice pour of wine and more.been there twice this trip and we are going back for a third time. WAiter Dante is great and Maitre D' Ricardo is a real professional. both making dinner a pleasure. wish they were in NY.

After coming to Aruba for 12 years, tonight we enjoyed the best meal we have had on this island. My husband ordered the seafood over pasta and it arrived beautifully presented and steaming hot. He has ordered this dish many times at other restaurants and he said this was by far the best he has ever eaten. I had the chicken Parmesan and it was very good, wonderful pasta sauce. Our server's name was Dante, and he was very attentive to our needs and very knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed Tiramusu for dessert[complimentary with our meals] and Irish coffees and are already looking forward to going back before our vacation is over.

great food and ambiance. reasonable prices for the quality and quantity and will definitely go back there again. location and views (before dark) are excellent. good wine list and highly recommended.

The setting is lovely, right beside the beach and we saw a lovely sunset. We had very nice minestrone soup, although it was closer to warm than hot, but still good. I had a tuna steak that was terrific while my wife had the chicken kabob, where the chicken was dry. We had a lovely assistant server, but a bored and uninterested waitress. When the bill came I could see why, the service charge was on the bill. No wonder she did not care.
It was a Wednesday night, we left at 7:45 and the restaurant was less than half full.

Jorge, William, Humphrey, all the girls, are just incredible people.

welcomed back. He is a fun person.

Aruba style was a blast. I got a kick out of the Ghost
Buster music along with what happens next.

I can't wait to return. I give it thumbs UP!

Both Jorge and Ricardo are wonderful! I am never disappointed at Matthew's. The bartenders and wait staff don't disappoint. Even though I have only been at Casa Del Mar for a couple years, I couldn't imagine it without Matthew's and the incredible staff there. I have nothing but good things to say.

perfect. the food is great. the bar scene is great. the happy hours are as fun as any happy hour you will find. the karaoke nights are the best parties and most fun events of the week. you can tell very easily if someone loves their job, and the bartenders at matthews certainly love theirs. they make the bar and/or dining experience wonderful.

Great, friendly service from Jorge at the bar. Bacon burger was yummy!

As a regular here, coming for twenty years, I can say that Matthews is by far the best incarnation of the restaurant and bar at the Casa Del Mar in my lifetime. The experience starts with the staff, and the managers, both Jorge and Ricardo, don't disappoint. They are extremely friendly and accommodating. The bartenders are where this place really shines. They are some of the most fun people you will ever encounter. Eveline, Angela, William, Humphrey, and Miriam take such great care of myself and all of my friends at the bar that it makes it feel like family. They remember all of us from year to year and ask us how we've been. I cannot think of a more friendly and inviting environment and feel very fortunate to spend my two week vacation with all of them. I end up eating lunch here almost every day, and the food is great. I usually get a salad or a sandwich, and am very happy with my meals and the service during lunch. I always recommend hanging out here to anybody new I meet who ask me where to go.

After hearing of all of the positive reviews about Matthew's we decided to try it. We were in a large party and were seated promptly when we arrived.
Sadly it took another hour and a half before we were served our dinner. The food was average, nothing really special compared to some of the other better restaurants in Aruba. We will skip Matthew's next visit.

Matthews is the all around perfect place to spend your time on vacation (in fact, I spent the majority of my vacation there!). I highly value customer service and Matthew's didn't disappoint - the entire staff was amazing, from Eveline who always made sure you were looked after, to William, Angela and Miriam who were amazing behind the bar and were so easy to talk to. The management (Ricardo and Jorge) was also great - Ricardo went out of his way to check on us and make sure everything was a-ok. Along with the service, the food was delicious (you have to try the meat platter!) and there was never a shortage of entertainment, especially Wednesday night when the greatest party on the island is at Matthew's - it doesn't hurt that Ricardo is an amazing dancer. I will definitely be going back very soon.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Aruba and one place we really enjoyed and spent a lot of time at was Matthews. We met a lot of fun people and my husband loved that they showed all the nfl and soccer games. The food was fantastic, especially all-you-can-eat ribs on Tuesday night. Overall, an awesome place, friendly staff and great ambience! A big thanks to Ricardo, Jorge, Eveline, Angela and William. They really made our honeymoon a memorable one!

The food was mouth watering! the management is simply outstanding! Ricardo and the rest of the management do a great job. Best aprt was the bar area. Once you sit down, you never wanna leave! A bunch of my friends and I decided to check out Matthew's and we were not disappointed. The bartenders were outstanding. Manager was fantastic. I made a reservation several weeks in advance with my name & hotel we (wife & I) were staying at. The reservation was for 6 PM on 9/30/10.

When we arrived at the restaurant - we were told that there was a wedding party and that our reservation could not be honored.

It would have been nice if they had contacted me at the hotel and let me know before we paid for a taxi.

They were not even nice about it.

We walked over to Windows on Aruba & had a great dinner.

Fri 09/09 – Matthews
Our first dinner has been at Matthews the last few trips. As usual, DW had the Pina Colada shrimp & and I had the Grouper – both dishes were excellent. For drinks DW had a Margerita and I had a Mojito. We both had a glass of wine dine & had a relaxing dinner at Matthews. Place was almost empty when we arrived and almost all the tables were taken when we left.

I will not eat here again. There were 6 in our party, we atea lunch and an evening meal. Lunch was salad and sandwiches, lettece was brown and some of the meat was over cooked. Evening meal, 6:00 PM, was served cool and again overcooked. It was not for us again during our stay.

matthews is one of the best restaurants in aruba! theyre grouper with a mango sauce is ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR. the only SLIGHTLY annoying thing was the flies. we ate at 6:16 so that was when they go crazy when the sun goes down. if you go after that then it would be even more wonderful than it already is. Matthews is one to write down when you go to Aruba!

I've been to Aruba many times, and I ALWAYS end up at Matthew's for multiple meals! Could it be the wonderful staff, fantastic food, great atmosphere, or the incredible view??? If you like seafood, you should definitely try the tuna tataky, jumbo scallops, seafood soup, and my favorite...sushi grade seared tuna steak. Karaoke night is lots of fun and typically results in a mid-morning craving the next day, which can be cured with Matthew's Caribbean breakfast (w/BACON!!!), FRESH OJ and killer coffee. Whether you eat in the restaurant or just grab a spot at the bar, you're going to love the experience!

After a full day of Island Jeep tour, lunch on a pier, and snorkeling at Antilles wreck and Boca Catalina, we were up for dinner close to our timeshare exchange at Casa del Mar - I was truly surprised and impressed at Matthew's. My wife lobster tail was properly cooked, and accompanied by two ample size shrimp and very tastefully prepared vegetables and potatoes. Going light, I had a Caesar's salad with shrimp, very effectively seasoned and dressed.
Our entertainment that evening was the scurrying landcrabs, the tropical breeze, and the sound of the waves. Unfortunately, we were too tired from a full day of activity to wait around for the reportely wild karaoke.

Seafood was excellent. Service could have been a bit better....but no complaints. I would go back.

Not as good as expected. The view is not of what they advertise. We were looking at tables and chairs on the beach. The food was good not great and service was just bad.
