MooMba is a great relaxing spot located right on the beach!!! As far as I know the only real BEACH BAR in Aruba. This place has it all attractive workers, great music, great service, reasonable prices, best of all you can have your toes in the sand while you do it all!!! Relax or party you can basically spend your entire vacation at one spot and really feel like you have been taken away from your normal hustle and bustle. I know I spend my entire vacation there!!!!
Moomba is more a bar than a restaurant.
Food is basic and prices equally. Service was ok but nothing special.
It's on the beach so top spot.
Last week, our party of 4 enjoyed a good lunch here so we decided to try dinner. To our surprise and delight, the 3 course, priced-right evening special was grouper. For starters, the appetizer was a perfectly seasoned seafood salad (fresh ingredients except for one-imitation crab meat); the grouper entree was absolutely wonderful - fresh, perfectly cooked and elegantly presented; for desert, a dense chocolate cake topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. The service was attentive and pleasant - the atmosphere super casual and relaxed. We will return next year.
We love staying at the Marriott and visiting MOOMBa on many an evening This year was especially fun thanks to a young fun bartender named Roeloff (not sure about spelling) We all enjoyed his entertaining manner and tried new drinks he suggested. We will be back in March. Look forward to it.
Wij zijn hier wezen eten. Helaas meerdere producten waren er niet die toch op de kaart stonden. Drie kwatier wachten tot het eten werd opgediend. Nadat we eten hadden gekregen, werden we onaangenaam verrasst.
My wife and I recently had a welcome beach BBQ dinner at Moomba and it was awesome. We had 55 guests in total which included 9 children. The food was great, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was attentive and personal. We did most of our communication with them via email and we had no problems. The management and event planner were very responsive. The dinner event went off without a hitch and everyone of our guest had a blast. Moomba also has a playground set to keep the kids entertained. For the adults, there was a cigar shop on hand for us to have a nice cigar after dinner. I would highly recommend Moomba for a dinner and a beach BBQ.
We went there in 2005 and it was lively and fun. Now in 2010 the help is slooooooooow and without personality and the birds screeching at you is the entertainment. The food was good but portions were small. Getting our check was like pulling teeth from a rabid dog while wearing a blind fold. Change ? Have exact change so you can spend your time doing something other than looking for the waitress. I think the self included Tip lends to bad service. No" Happy Island " service here.
We always eat here on our 1st night in Aruba, after traveling most of the day. We love to relax and let the kids run around a bit on the beach. The kids menu is good, our daughter had a kids size steak and ate the whole thing and our son had a pizza. I had a fish special, which I usually get, and it is always fresh. My husband had a burger. The service can be slow, but again, we expect it and it allows us to get into "Aruba vacation mode". We will be back again next year upon our arrival!
Went for breakfast, not a bad buffet breakfast---- had a coupon. Beautiful view, birds are a pain.
Great place to be. Food is okay. Staff very friendly.
Will come back!
I think that moomba beach is the most beautiful place to come to. Right on the beach and the surrounding is just great. About the food thats also good the service is just oke. They are very friendly towards the children and that is nice to see.
I went to Moomba Beach during a family vacation. I found the staff to be inattentative and do not recommend this establishment one bit. A bartender flat out lied to my aunt when she asked for a certain drink - the bar employee said they dont make those drinks at Moomba while my cousin walked by with that specific drink in hand!!! When questioned as to why the specific drink was listed on the menu (if they "didn't make them"), the employee's response was rude, to say the least. Needless to say, 7 patrons walked out after seeing this type of "customer service". Too bad though, it was right next to my hotel - but I gladly went the extra distance down the street for better service!
I visited Moomba two weeks ago and I've got to say it was one of the worse experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. I understand that on the islands things can and should be laid back. With that said, waiting 2 1/2 hours to get your main course is inexcusable. To top things off they even forgot my wifes meal entirely. You'd think that as a result of this the manager would immediately come over, offer an explanation, comp our meals and apologize for the awful service....well you'd be wrong. The entire staff almost seemed to be avoiding the situation that had developed. Only after we started to make a stink did they offer to do something. They took a whooping 10% off of our check.
The location and views are nice, but the service, food and level of professionalism is awful.
SUPER BOWL PARTY
Moomba's super bowl party was great fun. They set up two large screens on the beach and have a special menu.
The food service was slow, and the crowd was big. The food when we got it was good typical super bowl food.
Bar service was much faster and all together we really enjoyed the event.
We will return for next year.
We were here quite a few times over the week. I strongly suggest hanging out at Moombas on Sunday night, live music during the sunset and it's their busiest/funnest night! We had a great time and the staff is very nice
This is a great spot to grab a bite after lying on the beach all morning. The wait staff all seem to be young people spending time away from the Netherlands. They are always polite but not particularly attentive to middleaged Americans. They are attentive to young Dutch customers.
We came upon this place by accident, just walking down the beach. We went early because we had brunch around 11am that morning. So we got there around 5:30. Our waitress, Ilfa, was the best! We decided to hang around and drink a few cocktails while we waited for the Indonesian buffet to open. The buffet was terrific. We were in swimsuits with cover-ups and it was no problem. We had our 12 and 13 yr old kids with us. They walked down along the beach while we had a few drinks. It was one of the best and probably the least expensive meal we had in Aruba. I highly recommend it. (And of course, the sunset was beautiful!)
DO NOT EAT HERE ! Our waiter was rude, and he completly ignored us. It took forever to get water, and place our order, then when we got it- the food was terrible. There were flies around the buffet and our table. While we were waiting- we could not help but notice this strange odor - the restaurant reeked of cow manure! - we could not determine where the smell was coming from. We almost left- but we didn't want to be as rude as our server. The area is cute- and there is a seemingly fun ambiance- right on the beach, but don't fall for it!
We ate at Moomba on our first night in Aruba - we hadn't made reservations, just decided to take a chance. The setting is nice - right on the water, partly in the sand. Bottom line: maybe stop here later in the night for a beer, but don't bother with the food or the cocktails. The food was pretty bad, the cocktails were very weak and the service is well-meaning, but unattentive. It becomes a pretty hopping party spot late in the evenings, so if you like the pumping bass and hanging out with under-aged drinkers, then head there after 11pm.
once we found moomba beach, our trip became more fun! first the bar. we had two bartenders that started to recognize us after a few trips. i would have them surprise me with something fruity, and my husband who was drink balashi's was switched to amstel brights. they wree fun and great to talk with, giving you the wear to gos and the what to dos on the island. we ate lunch at the bar several times, always very good food.
we ate dinner at the restaurant one night only because we didnt feel like walking any further down the beach, and it was the best dinner we had all week. my husband who is sold on the chicken wings, had those and the chowder . i had the fettuccine aragosta, which was fantastic! our waitress was very attentive and sweet. the toilets are up behind the jolly pirates and arent the cleanest, but when you gotta go, you gotta go.
it is kid friendly if you dont mind the kids seeing a bunch of drinking people. I wouldnt be taking mine there after 9. ;)
PERFECT LOCATION ON THE SAND I WISH THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS MATCHED. 10 PERSONS FOR DINING 5 ORDERED THE FETUCHINI SEAFOOD. LOBSTER CRAB SHRIMP CALAMARI, NO LOBSTER CRAB WAS IMITATION WHEN ASKED THE SERVER ABOUT THE IMMITATION CRAB, HER ANSWER WAS "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR $24.00" THERE COCTAIL SAUCE IS MARINARA AND THEY DO HAVE THE SMALLEST AND LESS TASTY SHRIMP ON THE ISLAND
We ate here on a whim, since it was our first night on the island and we did not make reservations anywhere. The location on the beach was great! The bar was packed and there was live music (Sunday evening). We took a peek at the buffet, but took a pass because it looked like it was sitting for a bit since it was after 9pm. I had the grouper, wich was very good and my husband had the mahi-mahi, which was also quite tasty. Our only complaint was that the waitress was not very good. She looked confused most of the time and we had to call her over to reorder drinks, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Overall, we would eat here again for a quick bite or for lunch.
The seating is great...on the sand or in the open air dining area. Be careful, though, not to go later on nights when the music is cranked up in the bar-great for dancing and kicking back, not so great for families.
I think the servers tried--they were very polite. The food was pretty bad. The Indonesian Buffet is presented literally in the dark and most of the items are greasy and not pleasant to look at. Others at the table ordered from the menu without much better luck--it's the first time in my life I would not eat the onion rings--they seemed to be coated in the same grease as the buffet items and tasted strange. This place would be good if you stick to the bar (get wine or beer-the mixed drinks are mostly juice) and go for the music and dancing. Hope they improve the food because the location is lovely.
Hey all,
I think that moomba beach is the most beautifull place to come to. Right on the beach and the surrounding is just great. About the food thats also good the service is just not perfect. So a point of action for moomba beach. But they are very friendly towards the children and that is nice to see.
We are in Aruba on our Honeymoon in our early 30âs. We just went for dinner there last night, a last minute choice. Unfortunately, it was our worst exp. in a restaurant on the island. If it wasn't for the atmosphere (sitting right on the beach, nice music playing... for most of the night, loud rap music after that) it would have been a total wash! Our server was clueless and the service was super slow ... the food was mediocre ... and the drinks hardly had any booze (I thought having more of them would make the exp. better!). One of the servers did try to make up for the slow service w/ 2 free drinks... not worth it! Might be good for a beer or glass of wine at the bar but that's about it.
