My wife and I ate dinner here for our anniversary (and lunch at the Beach Bar once). Personally, I didn't think it was worth the money. We were staying at the fabulous Amsterdam Manor Hotel so we sat on watched the sunset on that exact same beach a several other nights, and this was probably our least romantic time doing it. I found the tables too close together for dining without wall, you could hear everything said at the three tables surrounding you. Plus, if you're sitting in the front row, your view may be ruined by 30 straight minutes of people taking pictures a couple of feet right in front of you during most of the sunset. I found that to be pretty rude since there was plenty of empty beach 5 steps away, and was disappointed that the servers would encourage people to stand in front of other tables for pictures. The service was also super duper slow. It took forever to get drinks, the check, refills etc. The server was unable to offer any recommendations and didn't seem knowledgeable about the food or cocktails.
On a more positive note, my food was delicious: the watermelon salad and the black sea bass. However, my vegetarian wife was unhappy with her food. There were only two vegetarian appetizers and one entree. There were only two vegetarian spring rolls for $12, which I thought was steep given the much larger portions for other apps. Also, the spring roll filling was mushy and overcooked. The vegetarian entree was a enormous pile of cheese pasta. The pasta was a large portion, but unappetizingly presented and very bland. People seem to go here more for the atmosphere than the food, but honestly, I was disappointed with both. A bottle of wine and a picnic on the beach would be more romantic (and much cheaper!)
Passions Beach Bar: Had a burger, fries, and chicken sate, Mostly the food tasted like the refrigerator/freezer. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked, but underseasoned. The fries and burger tasted strongly of freezer burn. The burger was dry and chewy. Probably the worst burger I've ever had.
