last visit, from march 7 untill march 30, 2011 we had diner over 20 times in salt & pepper. Excellent food and a pleasure to be served by their staff.
Already look forward to my next visit in september/october 2012. Manager Stef is doing a great job to keep this place on a high level.
we ate there 2 years ago the four of us had the mixed grill. it was excellent. we went back this december and mixed grill was taken off the menu. had grouper insted. it was just ok. will not go back until I see mixed grill on the menu.
Great breakfast! Good food and half the price of the hotels. An easy walk - right across the street from the high rise hotels. We enjoyed our Salt & Pepper breakfast every morning. Very friendly service - Sharon we truly enjoyed meeting you!
This is a good / bad review. The good is that if you are looking for a place to eat lunch before checking into your time share on the weekend in the high rise hotel area, this place is open and has both an outside and air conditioned inside area. The other good thing is that while the meal quality is inconsistent, some of the people had good meals (unfortunately for those of those who got bad meals, we were screwed for the Kitchen had no intention of fixing the food).
Now more bad news, the bar drinks are weak (like pail green Margarita with no taste), most beers are Pony Bottles (which stinks when this place is more bar than restaurant), the overpriced sandwiches ($10) don't even come with fries and expect to pay $30 per person for lunch. The good news is that they don't put a service charge on the bill, so you can properly thank the Waitress when she starts to give you "Attitude" and decides not to wait on you any more.
Overall if you can find another choice for your meals, take it.
In a word, skip it! Went for a light bite after a sunset cruise. Loud, noisy and food not too good. My burger was dry and overcooked, I asked for med. rare. My husband had a pea soup that was soooo thick you needed a fork and his ceasar salad was terrible. Took forever to take order!
Will not return.
Find another burger place!
Salt and Pepper is great for a lite Tapas dinner. Great drinks and a great location. The Dutch pea soup is great. The tapas are hit or miss. Favorite is the loempia (Dutch egg roll). The meatballs and fried vrie are good. A few of the fish in sauce dishes we skip after a few bad experiences. If your looking for a nice casual restaurant on the strip with friendly service and inexpensive tapas salt and is the place.
We were looking for something light to eat while in the high rise area.
The tapas were great and the burgers were huge and very tasty.
The kicker was the dirty martini's. Best martini we had yet and reasonably priced.
Our 5th trip to Aruba & eating @ Salt & Pepper. We ate breakfast there 14 times & dinner 7 times on this trip. The American Breakfast & healthy sandwich were delicious; also great pancakes, oatmeal & coffee. Tapas (fried brie, greek salad & mahi mahi) or Red Snapper with Sangria for dinner. Excellent service from a great wait staff. Laura, Sharon, Claudia and all of the others made you feel welcome. Live music at night to enjoy while eating. We even had Pumpkin Soup!
We generally have breakfest here almost every morning. Also good for a lite diner and beers. I love the Dutch girls.
We went to Salt & Peppers twice on our trip. The food was excellent we had tapas both times and the sangria was awesome. the service was exceptional. We would come back to S&P again
Had lunch (special of the day: crab wrap) and dinner here (burger and fries.)
The lunch special was wonderful and the hamburger was also very good.
This place always seems to be pretty consistent with their food. Service was a little uneven at lunch but overall a nice place for a casual meal.
Walked in, sat down, flies everywhere, changed tables, kore flies, walked out. Pretty nasty feeling being in there and not the most desirable smell either. I would stay away.
Delicious! Tried several tapas - shrimp, onion rings, swordfish - all were very good. Also had club sandwich, good and filling. Service was prompt and friendly. We will return!
Salt and Pepper became our favorite spot for lunch years ago. Always dependable good stuff with great service at very reasonable prices. Ate there a couple of times last week and still a great stop... love the Amstel Brights too!
Well it looked like a nice idea. I love Tapas. But the quality and quantity was mediocre. 1 tapas, seafood wrap was salty and fishy. We tried 7 tapas including chorizo, mushrooms, shrimp, chicken, all mediocre. A spinach dip was very well flavored but that's it. One of our group was different and ordered a hamburger. That was large, properly cooked and well seasoned. Think I'll pass up S&P on the next visit
First off the hostess forgot we were waiting for a table, then never told the waitstaff we were seated. This wouldn't have been a huge deal if the food wasn't horrible. We went to approx 10-15 restaurants in aruba and this was by far the worst. The spicy beef and swordfish bites looked like dog food. Everything was drenched in sauce or fried with a 1/2 lb of crisco. The only redeeming thing was drinking a pitcher of sangria while watching the horribly bad singer and laughing.
We have been going to Aruba for 10 years and always visit Salt and Pepper at least once. We were last week on our annual visit and had Sharon as our waitress. She is funny and attentive. The food was good and the atmosphere is easy and relaxed , which is what you want after a long day in the sun.
I am really surprised so many people wrote positive reviews for this restaurant. ( I hope these are not the owners who write them). My husband and I went there after reading all these reviews and we were unpleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. It is crowded and the food is tasteless. We ordered eight tapas and hardly ate any. The waitress thought it was too much for two of us, but the fact was that we had to leave the restaurant hungry. We actually envied the people at the Burger King that was next door. Trust me there are hundreds of other places in Aruba worth visiting
A fun lively restaurant in the high rise area. Waiters all helped each other, good service. Didn't have any entrees, just shared the tapas. Wonderful mushroom soup, olive tampanade, onion rings, shrimp with great mango sauce and mahi mahi with sauce. Enjoyed our visit.
We went to Salt & Pepper on our first night in Aruba on a recomendation of the concierge at our resort. We loved it so much that we ate dinner there every night. The seafood specials were fantastic and we loved the tapas and sangria. The service is great, the staff is very friendly. Salt & Pepper is a fun restaurant with great food at a fair price. We can't wait to go back!
I have been to Aruba 3 times and Salt and Pepper have been a regular each trip. The service is great, the food is great and the atmosphere is also great. Salt and pepper has an early bird special which allows you to get a free liter of homemade sangria with two entrees or an order of 6 tapas.
The specials include 3 different types of fish specials (mahi, grouper, or tuna)
I have been to Aruba 4 times and I especially enjoy dining at Salt & Pepper. The service is great, the food is great and the atmosphere is also great. I will be in Aruba in 3 weeks and I am looking forward to having most of my meals at Salt & Pepper. Hope they bring the Ribeye steak back to their menu.
We usually eat here every year and look forward to a nice casual meal and a menu that has alot of options to please everyone at our table. The food has always been good in the past but this year it was "just okay". A little disappointed but still not bad - however, not sure if we'll return again on our trip in Sept.
We only ate here for breakfast (because it was MUCH cheaper than our hotel) so I can't comment on their lunch & dinner menu. The menu was limited but the items good and inexpensive. The service was awfully slow, even for Aruba. In the waitresses defense, they seem to have been understaffed.
A good solid choice on every visit. We've been to S&P for lunch and dinner on several occations with good service and food quality. Our most recent visit was just as good. This time our children joined us and were thrilled with the Grouper and chili sauce. I had the Mauhi Mauhi with Cajun seasoning. If you like it hot, ask for extra seasoning and they'll give a side to adjust to your liking. My wife had several tapas including, Portbella mushrooms with bacon, sea scollops, and shrip cocktail. All were good, but she wished she had the Mauhi. All taken it was a great experience for what it is. A good solid eatery, with a pleasant atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but does it have to be to get a good meal at a good price while sitting in paradise.
