SAWASDEE(Welcome) to one of the worlds great cuisines. Thai food combines the best of several eastern cuisines: the oriental bite of Szechuan Chinese, the tropical flavour of malaysia, the creamy coconut sauces of southern India and the aromatic spices of arabian food. Thai food is very tasty, and our Thai cooks strike a perfect balance between sweet, sour, spicy, bitter and salty.
Our menu includes: beef, chicken, pork, steak, shrimp, fish, squid, noodles, fried rice, curries and a large selections of fresh vegtables. And for all vegetarians we have tofu, and mock chicken.

Honestly we cannot understand all the good reviews this restaurant is getting lately. This is our second visit. We thought we would give it another try after reading the recent reviews. We won't be back. spring rolls were your typical asian type. Nothing special. They were over fried and dark brown instead of golden.
We ordered a chicken and beef stir fry dish. Both were tough and the meat was dry. Thai food is supposed to be very flavourfull with a good hint of spice. We found both dishes to be bland.
When we were ready to leave we asked for our check and were told the owner was busy, we would have to wait for it. According to the server, he is the only one who is allowed to print the checks. "it's better that way" For him maybe, certainly not the customer.
She proceded to ask us to write a review and gave us a card with this web sites address on it. Our overall opinion was management could use Gordon Ramsay to turn this place around.
If you're looking for excellent Thai food in Aruba, this is the closest to the real thing, and I've spent quite some time in Bangkok. My response to Steven, posted on October 17, 2010, is to go back to eating your pseudo American Asian Cuisine. The people who serve here are outstanding and have done a great job bringing Thai food to Aruba.
Honestly doubted that Thai food in Aruba would be good. This was THE single best meal I've had of any cuisine in a fairly long time, and definitely the best Thai food I've ever had. Next time in Aruba with the rest of my family, we will absolutely be stopping in again!
We have been in Sawasdee three times in December 2011. My wife had a Pad Thai with Chicken and I ate the Matsaman Curry with Chicken. The food was delicious and we got it in a appropriate time. The environment was nice and the service was good. All in all it was a good dinner with reasonable prices. Highly recommended!
This restaurant is a hidden secret in Aruba! We were there in September 2011. We were so impressed with the service and decor in the restaurant. Food was excellent and the ambiance was just perfect. It can be missed because it is part of a small strip of stores next to Wendy's and away from the main street with all the restaurants. It was well worth it and we recommend getting away from the action and visit this restaurant especially if you love Thai. Food was delicious!
I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! It does not get much traffic because it's just off to the side of the main strip, however, its worth trekking the extra half block up from Hard Rock to get to this place (this place is a bit easy to miss - its right next to the Wendys though). The service was impeccable - constantly attentive to the needs of the table, refilling water and checking up on us. The food great as well - again, much better than expected. They did a great job with the decor as well and you have indoor/outdoor seating options. If you're looking for something different in Aruba, you should check this place out!
Great food. Great people. Great service. We were hesitant to go since many of us have not had Thai before. Everyone loved the food.
We visit Aruba every August but have always passed on this restaurant. BIG mistake !! We were very pleasantly surprised. A wide variety of dishes on the menu and rivals any Thai food back in the States. Lovely environment and the waitress could not have been more delightful. Very affordable, more than ample portions, a perfect location and overall a very positive experience. We will definitely return next year.
This place lived up to a high recommendation from a friend who spends a lot of time every year in Aruba. The Thai flavors were delicate and delightful. The service and environment were very pleseant. An excellent family dinner...tempted to go again in our short visit to Aruba!
The Sawasdee Thai Restaurant in Aruba is absolutely the best place on the island to eat. This is the first place I eat when I get to Aruba, and usually stop in a few more times during my stay. The food is perfect, the service is outstanding, and the environment is great! There's something for everyone to eat, even the kids. Do yourself a favor, and stop in for dinner. You won't regret it.
best value on the island!
Address found on the internet. Per e-mail reserved for 5 persons and got a fast and friendly answer. The food was excellent (I am a Thai food lover). We did the dinner special (recomended!). There was quite a bit left over and I was looking for words how to ask the waiter (who turned out to be the owner)to take home what was left. But before I could say anything he asked us whether we wanted to take it home. So the next day we had another splendid meal.
Recommended by Family, we had the pleasure of dining at Sawasdee the night before leaving Aruba. The atmosphere was casual and Peter was a gracious host, taking the time to come over and visit with us and still knowing when he should just let us enjoy the food. I had the Pineapple Cashew Chicken and my wife had the Pad Thai - Both were very tasty and portions were ample. Jonathan is a wonderful chef and even came out to ask if we were enjoying the food. Overall a great place to go for some local flavor - Great food, great staff - watch the hot sauce, it is no joke!
We have had a perfect dinner and a very pleasant service.Specialy the advise about the special ricetable helped us to make a good choise. If you want to have a Thai meal we sudgest you to go to Sawasdee.
I cannot believe the good reviews people posted for this place. We ordered the hot and sour soup for two and the spring rolls for an appetizer. The spring rolls were good, the soup was barely edible. We then shared a pat thai and fried rice.It took about 50 minutes for our food to come out and there were only two other tables being used at the time (both already had their food). By the time we got our pat thai it was cold and hard, noodles were barely cooked. We sent it back and asked for our bill. A waste of a good night out at a beautiful island.
Het eten was heerlijk een prima
bediening en zeer zeker een aanrader.
Simon bedankt
groeten uit Alkmaar
Great place for orginal Thai food with some Thai beers :-)
Best Pad Thai I have had and I recently ate at the restaurant voted "Best Thai - Pad Thai in US" according to FoodTV and this Pad Thai was better. Succulent shrimp.
This was one of our best meals in Aruba. We have been visiting Aruba for years and are sorry it took us so long to try it. The food was great and the people were really nice. It doesnt look like much from the outside but with food like that, who cares.
We were very happy with this restaurant. It is a small place and it was not very busy when we went. However the food was great, the service was good and the owner is there to make sure everyone is happy. We will definately eat here again. it was a nice relaxing very casual dinner.
My wife and I were surprised to discover there was a Thai place in the area, so we had to try it out. Our verdict? it was ok. It seemed to take a while for our food to be served (though it could just be that we're from NY), but overall no complaints on service. I ordered the green curry with beef, and it was pretty good. pretty spicy and nice flavor. The wife ordered the Pad Thai, and that was lacking. It was really dry, and a little bland in taste, definitely not what we're used to here in NYC. On a positive note, the serving was HUGE! we took most of it back and ate it later (well, i did, i eat anything!).
Overall it was ok, and a welcome change of pace from the other caribbean/seafood in the area.
WE WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM A HEAVY MEAL AND THE USUAL CARIBBEAN STYLED FISH,WE HAD PAST BY THE BUILDING MANY TIMES AS IT WAS IN A SMALL STRIP MALL AND NOT ON THE BEACH.WE WERE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.THE FOOD WAS FRESH,VERY TASTY,WITH INTERESTING INGREDIENTS.WE HAD CHICKEN SATAY,A SPECIAL OF PINAPLE CHICKEN AND CACHEWS AND RICE.THE SERVICE WAS ATTENTIVE AND WELL PACED.WE WOULD RETURN.
We were very impressed with both the quality of food and excellent service. having been to many different Thai restaurants, I find that each one puts it's own "twist" on a recipe. Everything we had exceeded our expectations and were delicious. The pad thai & drunken chicken were nicely spiced, and then I added more with extra spices provided. The portions are large. Will definitely return.
