I truly believe that this is Aruba's best kept secret!!! You have a world famous bar tender at your service. The best food on the island for the price, always fresh, always great quality and they are willing to make you almost anything. I have been going to Aruba since 1989 and have tried every restaurant on the island. Shon Gecko is the best value and my favorite place to eat on the island. See you soon. Margi
I can't understand how this place got such high ratings. It's your basic poolside bar. The blender drinks were better than most but, the menu was unimaginitive. My wife's chicken finers were overcooked and a bit tough. My burger tasteed good but, the consistancy of the meat was a little strange. It seemed to be very finely ground. I saw some comments about the bartenders throwing bottles up in the air like they did in the movie Cocktail. I asked the bartender about this and he said "I doon't know where you heard that. Only clown bartenders do that." I found it a little annoying that the bartender threw our leftovers on the ground so the lizards and birds could eat it. I'm all for feeding the wildlife but, he just dumped our plates upside down on the ground. Overall, not worth the trip.
We have been going to LaQuinta since 2005 - Seeing Urwin, Raymond and Danny at Shon Gecko is always our first stop when we arrive in Aruba - Steak Sandwiches are outstanding - along with just about everything else we tried there - It is a fun place by the pool - we see several locals there eating which says a lot about the place - Like any place in the world - Locals always know the best spots to eat
I have been going to Aruba for 20 years and Shon Gecko is by far my favorite restaurant on Aruba. You can get good quality food for a decent price. The drinks are the best in the world and of course, the bartender Urwin, is the entertainment. It is sort of like watching the movie cocktails but in a beach and pool bar setting. I wait the whole year to have one of Urwin's famous Arubian burger. Urwin, Raymond and Daniel are what makes the experience what it is.

The best place on the island to eat.Prices very reasonable-very nice pole side atmosphere-Best staff on the island-all the food is very good-breakfast,lunch and dinner. The barbecue Buffet is one of the best.Check for the day of week and make reservations you will enjoy the show.
Great little place for lunch! Hidden away in the resort behind the Screaming Eagle in the low rise section (hint: it is behind the pool). Even the locals I asked and information booths never heard of this place. It is a relaxed very casual place for a lunch not really dinner in my opinion unless you are looking for a bar to eat at.
The price was good and I hate the Arubian burger which was very good. I also asked for his house specialty cocktail since he won awards for best bartender I had to try. It was expensive but very good, worth at least a try! My wife had the chicken Shorma but she was not that impressed with it (we are spoiled with the more authentic thing back home).
Fun place to eat a quick meal
Shhhh...The best little secret eatery on the island. Urwin & Raymond, Danny and the ladies are all great. The breakfasts, lunches & even dinners are wonderful for the money. From the canape, to the crab salad & to the grouper, it's all good. Let's face it, the cole slaw, mac & potato salads are great. It's enjoyable to see these friendly people year after year.

Chicken Ceasar Salad is outstanding and economical. Urwin truly is the best bartender in Aruba. We look forward to the Super Bowl get together this Sunday!
The food here is great,so is the atmosphere and service. Prices are very reasonable and the Ceasar salad is great!

The food and drinks are much really great and reasonably priced. Urwin will create drinks just for you if you tell him what you like. He truly is the best bartender on the island (he won an award for it last year)!!

Urwin is the best bartender on the island. He is personable, fun and makes great drinks. He also loves the Yankees, have to ask him about that! Fun atmosphere and incredible drinks. Poolside paradise!! Gotta have a NUTTY MONKEY, OMG!!!!
