We visited the Sunset Grille for their new Sunday brunch. I hate to say it, but it was absolutely disappointing. First the good news: The service was friendly and attentive, the seating outside was oke with a very nice view over the garden.
Now the bad things: The seating inside is extremely crowded. There is hardly any space between the tables. It is very noisy and the music is more a disturbance in this respect than a pleasure. The really bad thing was the food, that was really terrible. Especially the main dishes were badly cooked and often overcooked and the presentation far below expectations. The salad bar and dessert bar were ok but not above average. We usually have brunch at Windows but you better don't try to compare these restaurants. On the scale 0-10 Windows will gain a solid 9 and Sunset Grille a bare 4 to 5. We wonder how it is possible that an upscale hotel has such a bad restaurant or at least such a bad kitchen. We will never come back. Compared to the other venues who serve Sunday brunches this is by far the worst. Too bad, it could have been such a nice experience but it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

We are timeshare owners at the Divi Phoenix so this restaurant is so convenient for us. Unfortunately, we will not be back due to just plain terrible food. We want to like this place, and have returned each year despite terrible service and so so food because the setting is fantastic. However, this year, we decided it was our last visit. Five dinners we ordered and each one was terrible. Filet mignon looked/tasted nothing like filet mignon. Shrimp cocktail was not good-not fresh. Coconut shrimp were as dense as hockey pucks. Creme brulee had no crispy topping-tasted old. I think we've tried everything and have yet to find any winners. Setting cannot be beat but unfortunately we paid $250 for dinner and no one had a good word to say. Sad!

We have to disagree with some of the other reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunset Beach Bistro last week (April 16th)! They do, in fact, have the $35 fixed price menu, BUT, if you look at the menu, you can pass on the appetizer and dessert, which gets the price down to $23. We had the Seafood Treasure and the Sand & Sea entrees. They were absolutely delicious and fresh! We also had a 15% coupon that you can get at arubadiscountcoupons.com, which brought the price down even further. We also had the good fortune of having Lito as our bartender and Frank as our server. They made the entire evening very enjoyable.

The quality of food is typical of a hotel restaurant, average at best. It does sit, literally, right on the beach. In fact, you can dine right on the beach. The food was very average. Their fish was fresh, but lacked any pizazz. Our dessert was Crème Brulee and was not very good. We actually didn't finish it. They have a $35 price fixe menu that consists of an appetizer, main course & dessert. There are too many other good restaurants in Aruba, so I would not recommend this place.

The fact that this restaurant is on the beach with a great view of the sunset is it's only saving grace. It's a typical hotel restaurant in it's food quality....average to somewhat below average. It is located on the property of Divi Pheonix timeshare resort, which is on the Southern end of the highrise hotel region.
The food was not terrible, but it was not good either. Their fish was reasonable fresh, but flavorless. Dessert was particularly bad. How difficult is it to make a brownie with ice cream? I didn't bother to finish it. As one of the other reviews stated, you get what you pay for. We went there because of the $35 price fixe and the remarkable location. There are too many other good restaurants with comparable ambiance and with much better food. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We enjoyed the $35 3-course prix-fixe at the Sunset Beach Bistro recently. The setting is very nice, we sat at a table for 4 on one of the platforms on the beach. It was a beautiful place to watch the sunset. Service was good, staff friendly. Food was above average but a bit disappointing. Coconut shrimp were tasty but appeared overcooked - the breading was dark. One had the land and sea special and was happy with both the steak and shrimp. Another had the creole snapper - tasty, but far from the best. All in all, the location is great, but for a few bucks more, I would recommend enjoying Marandi or The Old Man and The Sea.

Romantic atmosphere and only 4 other couples on the beach with us dining; HOWEVER, my Prime Rib was VERY chewy and not tasty. My husband didn't like his fish entree either. Dessert was just okay as were the side dishes. This would be a great place if the food quality improves -- we also ate on the beach at Passions where their food was better but the atmosphere is better here at the Sunset.

We stayed in Aruba in June 2008 and ate at this restaurant on our last night. The environment was excellent. The views were absolutely beautiful. The price was good, but don't forget you get what you pay for. The food was just ok, nothing more. The next time I go to Aruba I would try a different beach dinner.

We love this place. They have tables on the beach close to the ocean and the view is breathtaking (make sure you arrive before the sun sets). They serve a $30.00 prix fix menu and the food is excellent. The evening we came for dinner the service was pretty good but I can understand that it might be a little bit slow sometimes as the kitchen and bar are pretty far away from the tables and the waiters constantly have to walk trough the sand, but why worry, you're on vacation just relax and enjoy the breathtaking view.

We went on a tour of the new Divi resort time-share they're building and received a $100 gift certificate for dinner at the Sunset Beach Bistro. We followed the other reviewers suggestions and made the reservations for sunset. It was wonderful to have bare feet in the sand and watch the sunset. Our waiter was very friendly. But...the food was average at best. The cesear salad was decent, but I got escargot - which tasted previously frozen. I had the coconut shrimp for dinner and received 4 shrimp that tasted like something from a chain restaurant. My boyfriend had the surf and turf and had to send the filet back to be cooked more (as initially requested). The dessert was the worst, I got the key-lime pie, it was super sweet and must've been a few days old, because the whipped cream on the top of more of a "solid". We also ordered the baklavah, it was like a rock.

They did have a $30 3 course price fixed menu, but if we were paying out of pocket - even that would be too much!

The wine was delicious though! I suggest you go at sunset to enjoy a nice bottle of wine or some frosty beverages - and eat somewhere else!

This is the best spot on the island. The food is good and the view is incredible. Prices are reasonable.

The beach in front of the Phoenix is amazing, much better than the Marriott. My husband and I would have breakfast at the Sunset Beach Bistro (great coffee, pancakes and breakfast potatoes) and then walk to the beach.

We also had lunch one afternoon. Very good grouper sandwich, french fries and Jamaican chicken sandwich.

Dinner is a great deal, $30 for three course meal. The food is good, but stick with the seafood, it was much better than the mixed grill. I enjoyed the crab cake appetizer, my husband and I both loved the Apple charlotte desert.

Service was a little slow but everyone was very friendly.

Close to the high rise hotels. Easy parking. Lizards everywhere. Bring your camera.

Great atmosphere, located right on the beach with tables in the sand and on platforms, we sat right on the beach. We had reservations but it was fairly quiet and didn’t need them. The palms were lined with white lights and there was a dock leading out to the tables. It was a three course meal with choices for each area. I choose the shrimp cocktail which came out in a large conch shell with four large shrimp hanging out, the presentation was unique. The other app was a salad with fried goat cheese medallion, apples, walnuts, greens. One meal was the seafood medley, with scallops, shrimp, snapper, mussels all was very good. The other meal was a mixed grill with steak, pork, chicken. The pork was the best and the other meats were good also. Had two scoops of Italian ice cream and apple pie styled dessert. Both desserts were very good.
Would recommend this restaurant and we definitely would eat there again.

What a great surprise! Ate there on Father's Day and enjoyed the steak dinner and my significant other had the grouper special. Both meals were fantastic with a bottle of wine and sitting at the beach at sunset. Loved it so much that we went back on Thursday for Lobster fest and they had a steel drum band/dancers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place over and over. Very friendly wait staff.

This is one of our favorite places to have dinner in Aruba. The environment and view alone may be the best reason to go. Try to make it about 30 minutes before sunset to get the best experience. The food is always very good although the service has been a little slow in the past. I don't necessarily mind "relaxed", but please visit our table occasionally to see if we would like more wine, another beer, etc. The bathrooms are a bit of a hike, but it's a nice walk. There is also a nice convenient store at the Phoenix and we sometimes get dessert in there instead of the restaurant... not because the restaurant has subpar desserts, but because we just like the shop. Otherwise, a great dining experience... bring your camera!

Sunset Bistro at Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort. You are right at the water and the sunset views
are unforgettable. The best time to get there is at sunset and have diner with candlelight.
Be careful! Sometimes they can’t tell the difference between the term “service charge” and tip and
you may end up…paying both. Which is fine for a fairly unique place.

The setting looked promising but perhaps the staff was having a bad night. We had a party of 9 and experienced a series of problems all of which the waitress failed to acknowledge let alone apologize for - and we ate well past the sunset rush. 1 - she put down a drink that was obviously not the correct one but told us it was just their own variation, then proceeded to get the right one only after we objected a few times. 2 - when the food was delivered by a 2nd waiter he was unfamiliar with the which dish was which, nevermind whose was whose and he seemed irritated. 3 - Only 8 meals were served and by the time the 9th (mine) was served, the waitress had cleared the table. 4 - three of the stuffed snappers were very dry. 5 - And this is classic..when the waitress discovered one of the meals was missing she tried to take one of the original meals served 10 minutes earlier, now partially eaten, and give it to me. WTF?!
I will say that when I finally got my own stuffed snapper it was not bad but we trying to convince the waitress that any of this was the restaurant's fault was futile. Our overall our experience shows that the place is inconsistent at best. There are plenty of other sunset dining places to try.
