I'm not one to normally write online reviews, and I eat at restaurants quite a bit, but I was so furious about the food here that I had to speak up.
Our ceviche app - not bad, although the rest of the plate saved the over-marinated chewy fish.
Entrees- just bad. It was just bad food. Neither my wife or I could get through them. Around this time we also noticed the couple at the table near us send their food back, complaining about the standard. The staff handled the whole thing very poorly. Surely this isn't a new experience for them. They must KNOW how bad the food is. They can't be surprised.
And... It's super expensive!! What the hell is going on??!!
Wine list - so this place got an award of excellence from wine spectator. Why then, does their list comprise of a whole lot of wine that got rated in the mid 80s by same magazine?? And at more than TRIPLE retail prices!!
Dessert - mediocre souffle.
I have never experienced a more over hyped, just BAD eating experience.
(I'm normally the guy that knows to take bad reviews with a grain of salt.... Especially amongst good ones. I don't know what the yells going on but save your money people!!)

My husband and I renewed our vows in Aruba, and Fr. Toti recommended we have our dinner with some friends at the Sunset Grille. The food was fantastic (Chilean Sea Bass). The beef was very tender. The staff was wonderful. For a special occassion, you can't beat the Sunset Grille.

Always our last night favorite... pricy but generally worth every penny! There were 4 of us this year and everyone thoroughly enjoyed dinner! A Filet, Kabota pork, Baked stuffed shrimp and Veal Oscar. All was wonderful... except for my Veal Oscar.... I expected a veal cutlet for this traditional dish, but got a couple of veal sirloin 'tenderized' things! It was too much meat without the presentation and tenderness that I expected! Will I go back...? Yup! Still one of our favorites on the island!

We heard that this was an excellent dining experience, however it was mediocre to say the least. While the staff is very friendly, the food was OK. We ordered appertizers and then my friend ordered French Onion soup. We received out appetizers but they completely forgot about his soup. They never even apologized, they just brougth out the main course which was the Chateaubrian. It had a very burnt taste and parts were chewy. For those prices, I expect a lot more.

This is our second visit to Sunset Grille. We love this place. We sat outside in the cool island breeze, Six of us seated at a round table. We ordered martini salads and baked onion soup. All wonderful tasting and beautiful presentation. Then we had fillets, swordfish and stuffed shrimp. All were delicious!! The best steak we have had on the island. We finished off with coconut chocolate souffle. WOW! Even the dutch coffee was excellent. Our waiter was delightful, friendly and funny (and very efficient.)All six of us are still raving about the food and service. This is "One Happy Island" place.

The food was good but for the cost, not great, we found the restaurant across the street, Pappion to be MUCH better, even though The Sunset Grill is rated higher... The service was not great, and the Red Snapper special was NOT good at all, over cooked.I would not go back here on my next visit to Aruba.Though the Radisson is wonderful their restaurants are not!!!

This was our first real dinner on our honeymoon... we wanted easy, and didn't want to leave the hotel... This was great... I started with a delicious Escargot in Garlic Butter that was delicious, while my wife had the chopped salad, that was delivered in a martini mixer, and served in a martini glass. Very cool. For dinner I had the Veal Oscar with garlic mashed and she had the Filet Mignon with scallopped potatos, both were amazing, plates were big and we took some home (the steak was better than the veal on day two eating) For dessert, we shared a chocolate souffle that was amazing, it was served with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream, along with some blueberries and strawberries, they even took the time to write happy honeymoon in chocolate around the dessert. Delicious.

We went to the Sunset Grille five years ago for our honeymoon and the food was amazing and the place was packed! It was a wonderful experience. When we went back two years ago with my family, I was all excited to take them... however, when we got there, we found out the management and chef had changed. The food wasn't the same as five years ago and truly for the money, was a BIG disappointment. My husband and I were in Aruba for the 3rd time last month and decided to give it another try. I wish we would've gone somewhere else... the service was horrible and the food, again, just mediocre. We won't be going back unless they bring back the old menu/chef.

We ate at the Sunset Grill on the evening of Feb.19, 2009. I am aware that it was part of President's Week and that many families travel with children. We arrived at 7:30, as was indicated on our written reservation, expecting to be seated outside, as requested. We were told our reservation was at 7:00 and that we could no longer sit outside. We were seated inside where the noise was deafening! We made a mistake by not
leaving immediately. There were many large groups of families with small children that shreiked and cryed the entire time. The adults in the groups ignored their children and simply yelled over the din with their friends. Our group of eight could not converse with each other at all because we could not hear each other. We will not be back. The quality of the food was average, as was the presentation. I felt the management did nothing to insure the dining pleasure of all. They brought us two free desserts for the table, but really all we wanted was the bill so we could leave. That took forever to arrive.

After being on the Island 3 times, my (future)husband and I decided to get married in Aruba. After careful consideration on all the restaurants we ate at, we decided on one. So, On June 20, 2008, I had my wedding reception dinner at the Sunset Grille. From start to finish everything was absolutely perfect. The food was outrageous. Everyone raved (31 people) for days how delicious the food was. Almost everyone went back a second time. The staff was phenomenal, went above and beyond what I expected. They even entertained the table of kids we had. I would highly recommed this restaurant to everyone who goes to Aruba.

Of all the dining experiences my husband and I have enjoyed in Aruba - the Sunset Grille was the most amazing! Not as trendy, or crowded as some of the more popular restaurant, which we appreciated. The ambiance, the food presentation and quality, the sevice - all perfection! If you are looking for a bargain meal,or are dining with small children, this is not the place to visit. Allow at least 2 hours dining time. Try for an outside table, at sunset. Savor every wonderful moment! Enjoy!

LOCATED INSIDE THE RADISSON HOTEL, WENT HERE FOR MY GIRLFRIEND'S B-DAY. NICE ATMOSPHERE. THE FOOD WAS GOOD/VERY GOOD. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, THE RESTROOMS ARE OUTSIDE THE RESTAURANT IN THE LOBBY. EVERYTHING HERE IS A-LA-CARTE (YOU PAY FOR EVERYTHING YOU GET.....SALAD, APPETIZER, VEGS, ENTREE, DESSERT..VERY, VERY PRICEY) WAITER WAS NOT PLEASANT AND MADE US WAIT AND ASK OVER AND OVER AGAIN FOR MORE ROLLS AND BUTTER (THANKFUL THAT WE DIDN'T GET CHARGED FOR THEM) THE MANAGER, HOWEVER, DID ACCOMODATE ME IN CELEBRATING MY GIRLFRIEND'S B-DAY WITH A FREE DESSERT AND THE WAITERS SANG. HAD A GOOD TIME, BUT WON'T RETURN....TOO PRICEY!

My wife and I make sure to visit the Sunset Grille every trip. The steaks are perfect and the service is the best on the island. I will admit that the ambiance is a little dark, but this fits in with most American steak houses. We took our daughter and my 1 year old granddaughter, they treated my granddaughter like a queen, but I would not consider this the best place on the island for a family with four kids. This rivals the many steak houses I have been to throughout the US, the world, and the best steak in Aruba.

The Sunset Grill is in the Radisson and we stayed at the Radisson on the honeymoon package and got one dinner at the Sunset Grill which was an amazing experience. Definitely one of our best meals on the island. For appetizers the martini salad and the lobster bisque were incredible. The restaurant has a huge wine list ranging from $30 a bottle to a few hundred. The steaks were perfectly cooked and were some of the best we had.

Now comes to the best part, dessert. Sunset Grill has a souffle which both my wife and I thought was the best thing to ever pass through either of our lips. It takes a good 30 minutes to cook it so they recommend you place the order after obtaining your meal or placing it with your entree but it is a MUST HAVE.

Service was top notch as well. Everything was Four Diamond quality. Highly recommended.

Can't say enough about the great food and service here. It is an expensive restaurant since everything is ala carte but it is definitely good! My husband had the crab cake and scallop appetizer (scallops just melted in your mouth) and I had the shrimp cocktail (4 shrimp but they were HUGE!) For entrees my husband and the filet mignon and lobster tail and I had the filet mignon. The steak here is so good - had a taste of the lobster and even though I'm not a big lobster fan, this had to be the best I've ever tried (incredibly tender). Dessert was the chocolate souffle which was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. Service by Jorge was the best! Only downside was that we were seated inside where the ambiance is lacking - much better to be seated outside if possible.

March 1, 2007 - We have been dining at Sunset Grill for three years. This year the food, and service were the worst we had ever experienced. No more free sushi samplers, the bread variety was eliminated...Where are the flat breads? Some of the food was undercooked and some was overcooked. We had planned on going back later this week but cancelled that reservation due to the bad dining experience. We miss the Executive Chef that was there in the past insuring great plate presentations and food quality.

Sorry Sunset Grill...we won't be back.
