Food was ok but service was worst. Will never go again.
The Taj Mahal in downtown Aruba really surprised and delighted us, especially the qualit of thevegetarian dishes.
Having eaten Indian food in restaurants in several parts of the world including India, we found the cuisine to be very authentic and tasty. Kudos to the chef! We found the ambiance and the service too to be very pleasant. What a treat to have such a fine dinner in a resort town like Aruba.
Order it hot!
I love Indian food and went to Taj Mahal several times in the past. Food is fresh and tasty and prices are reasonable. Service is very basic but friendly.
My husband and I ate at Taj Mahal last February and I would give it a 10! In fact we ate there 2 times in 5 days. The food was wonderful and they were very friendly. We're going again in January and we can't wait to eat there again!
The food is very good here. Everything I had was tasty and the naan was excellent. I was very surprised with how small the serving was of the naan. In their menu, they had on most pages that the entree included "basmati rice and naan". The waitress said that was a mistake- it was one or the other. The menus need correcting, even if it's something as simple as typing up the word "or" and taping it over the word "and" on each menu. I think the interior could use some sprucing up and certainly Indian music playing would be nice and appropriate. The chairs were low for the table or vice versa. But I don't understand why more people weren't in here eating. Granted, we were early, but the food really is good.
We had a dinner at Tajmahal restaurant in December 07 & where pleasantly surprised to have an exquisitely delicious Indian food on a small Island of Aruba. We had never ate an Indian food as great as this anywhere. We were so impressed that they were our choice of caterer during the wedding of our daughter that was in Aruba in June of 2008. The owners Rajesh & Shobha Matai are the greatest people we met & their proffesionalism & caring they showed during every event were outstanding. When you are in Aruba, never miss a chance to eat at the TajMahal restaurant. You will not regret it.
hi...after spending a year in aruba, i have to say Taj Mahal is not the place to go! The food is not original indian food; its "spicyness" is altered by sprinkling red chilli pepper on top of the food, which i can do at home also. The deserts are very poor, as is the service. The waitress does not understand the names of dishes, nor can they say it properly. The restaurant is also situated BEHIND downtown, where the usual view is crackheads walking around and at times, by your table, etc. (outdoor seating). The restaurant has little ventilation, so it smells like smoke/garlic any time you visit. I would drive-thru Burger King anyday, to get my money's worth!
Despite not being of Indian heritage, I still love spicy food. This really is an excellent Indian Restaurant. Authentic food and always excellent service from the friendly Manager, Rajesh. Being a local, I must admit that Taj Mahal is my favorite restaurant. It may be small and unpretentious compared to some other restaurants, the quality of the food and servings are great however. In the end, this counts most. My compliments to the chefs, they always know how to indulge my taste buds. Even my wife loves the food even though she is not much of a spicy food lover since Taj Mahal cooks the food right after order takes place and adds spice according to preference.
The food was more than great here. It was full of taste and flavor. I would have eaten there twice on my trip if I had more time. The only downside to this restaurant was the slow unfriendly service. Although the owner seemed to care about the satisfaction of the customers and was 10 times friendlier than the rest of the servers. I have tried many different Indian restaurants in the states as well as the country of India and I would have to say this is one of the best Indian meals i have ever had.
When you get tired out fancy dining, and want a culinary diversion, indian cuisine is appealing. In downtown area, food was good, and portions were ample. Dinner for 2 including beers were $55, plus tip. Service was minimally acceptable.
I had to give the service such a low rating because it was just terrible for us. We were a group of 11 so I'm thinking that is why it was so bad, but still it sucked. Everything took so long to come out, we were there for about 3 hours. There were only 2 waitresses at the time and they were both unfriendly. I would say if you are in a smaller group you should try this place because you might get better service and the food is excellent. Hats off to the chef.
All I can say is excellent food, excellent service, excellent & friendly atmosphere!!! If you like indian food, you will not be disappointed!
Great Indian food and best value on the island.
The food was excellent I have eaten Indian food in many restaurants but not as good as what I got in Taj Mahal
Great Indian food and best value on the island. I had a combo meal (see back page of menu) for $10 and it included several courses and was very good. Atmosphere, however, is badly lacking.
Good Indian food but an unspectacular setting. Dining room seemed somewhat dirty and yellow walls need a fresh coat of paint. Service was very good. Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala (good) , chicken shagwala (good), naan bread, rice, 1 mango lassi and 2 Balashis - $40 w 20% tip. If you want Indian food and don't care about atmosphere, this place will do for lunch.
