Excellent food, great view

We had dinner outside this Thursday night at Water's Edge which is Italian night with local dance performers. After eating earlier in the week at El Gaucho, Azzurro, Madame Janette, and Passions, I can honestly say that my best meal was at WE. Everyone else in my family really enjoyed their meal also. I went with the Italian night prix fixe menu and chose the ravioli for the appetizer and the grouper with shrimp for the main entree which were both excellent. The only dessert option was tiramisu which I am normally not a fan of but this was also excellent. Service was on the slow side but who is in a rush to leave a Caribbean beachside table?

Misrepresentation

Apr 27, 2015 - posted by
I just dined at this restaurant with my wife while vacationing in Aruba. This is located in the Costa Linda resort. We were the first customers of the evening and were seated at a table of our choice.
As the waitress handed us the standard menus she pointed out that there is a separate page inside which is the "special" of the evening.
It was an assortment of seafood and sounded great. I asked her about the specific fish which were listed on the page and she described them in detail.
After 40 minutes of waiting around she brings us our entrees and only at that moment does she notify us that there were certain fish that were listed on the "special" that they were out of.
It was not mentioned when ordering, not mentioned in the 40 minute interim it took to be served (btw, there were six others dining in this restaurant at that point), but we were informed as she was delivering our meals.
Please take note that they only had one "special" and we were the first customers of that dinner service and they were out of several of the fish in this seafood medley.
Either erase the ones that are not available so as not to mislead your customers, or substitute them with more of the others or some other seafood or lower the price to compensate. None of the above happened.
What they did do was add 15% service charge to the meal for a party of 2 since they wanted to be paid for their wonderful way of doing business.

Very Pleased!

We ate at Water's Edge during our recent trip, it was our third time dining there for dinner since they opened, as we are owners at Costa Linda. We were never very impressed with the previous restaurant, Turtle's Nest, but Water's Edge is a huge improvement. We have been very happy all 3 times. The new menu is much better. Their Ahi Tuna entree is simply the BEST I have ever had, anywhere. I've had it all 3 times and it was excellent each time. Hubby had the mahi mahi this last trip, and said it was also excellent. The lobster bisque is also amazing. Our daughter loves their chicken fingers and fries. They do have a good kids' menu. They also serve a a great breakfast and prices are very reasonable. Lunches are also terrific, especially their burgers and the Cobb salad. The wait staff is pleasant and we have definitely seen an improvement in service over past years.

Very good

We dined here on a Sunday night. The place was not crowded which made for a peaceful evening to relax and have dinner with our guests. They offered a blackboard special that all three of us had. It was linguine with shrimp, scallops, mussels and mahi-mahi with a lobster cream sauce. All of us enjoyed it and weren't able to finish it all as the portion size was very large. My wife had the lobster bisque and it was really good. We'll be back.

A very accommodating staff. Very relaxed, immaculate, indoor/outdoor setting. Ocean setting. Delicious cuisine. Always worth at least one visit per vacation.

Disappointing

Eagerly anticipated trying out the new restaurant at Costa Linda, and we were sadly disappointed. Service was not professional, quality of food is poor.

Beautiful view, but not worth the trip.

Can't review the food because it never came

First, this restaurant, while beautiful has a fatal flaw: the acoustics are horrible. You can NOT have a conversation in this room. People across the restaurant were talking so loud everyone else had to up their volume to talk to their own tablemates.

Second, after waiting 40 minutes for our salad/soup we couldn't take the noise level any longer and asked for our check for the 2 glasses of wine we had. We were told sorry the food is coming, but we'd had enough and left cash on the table for the wine and walked out. I understand "island time" in a restaurant, but salads and soups are not made completely from scratch as ordered and even if they were, 40 minutes? They were not that busy.

Never again.

New Costa Linda Water's Edge 12N

We wanted to first hand experience this new restaurant. It was such a pleasant evening. The new room is beautifully glassed in overlooking the water. The sunset was beautiful! The staff and service were excellent. The manager expressed his desire to please each and every customer. We all had different entrees: grilled veggies with pasta, mahi mahi and filet mignon. Each meal was delicious and well presented. The bread was hot and inviting. The waitress refilled the basket. Our only dissappointment was the brownie dessert. It was not anything special. This restaurant has only been open for 3 weeks.Looking forward to returning next year.

A hidden gem

Aug 17, 2012 - posted by
Formerly the Turtle's Nest, now Water's Edge 12 Degrees North, this renovated restaurant is a work in progress that shows great potential. The view of the beach as you eat is breathtakingly beautiful, the service excellent with very attentive, friendly servers, and the food is delicious. Edwin, the manager, greeted us and explained that they had wonderful, fresh grouper the day we went, then described how chefs Harold and Andrew were preparing it; according to my dinner companion, Edwin's recommendation was right on the mark! The grouper was deemed excellent, served with mango sauce and sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Presentation of the food was attractive. I had linguini with fresh roasted vegetables, which was also delicious. The dessert menu was not very extensive, but the restaurant owner, Roy, explained to us that the entire menu is going to undergo extensive changes. As the newly-renovated restaurant has been open a short time, they are working out the kinks - such as poor acoustics in the dining area and flies due to the lack of winds the night we were there - but the food is worth going for, the staff is open to constructive criticism, and I believe that this restaurant can be considered a hidden gem that more people should discover and enjoy.
