Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

There were 4 of us that ate here. Three of us had a fabulous meal while the fouth had to send back her fillet mignon twice and it still wasn't cooked (she took it back to the room and ate it the next day). They did not charge us for that dish. The atmosphere is quaint, but not as nice as eating on the beach. The service was excellent and the manager personally came over to apologize. I would defintely eat here again.

Priciest meal on the Island by a factor of 2x. Meal mediocre at best. Wine and service are spectacular. Dessert was a disaster. Apple strudel was not crisp or warm. The sushi was warm, not cold. The fish dishes were decent, but not as good as other restaurants. Lovely atmosphere but in no way worth the price.

We have eaten at MJ's many times over the last 10 years and have never been disappointed...until this time. We were treated shabbily first by the maitre d'and subsequently by the other staff. We were seated over 30 minutes late, and yes, we had made online reservations well in advance. My wife ordered veal medallions and was served huge schnitzel sized pieces of veal. When questioned, the waitress shrugged and stated "Those are our medallions". I think not. Upon leaving, the maitre d' chose to argue about how we had been treated. In Canada and the U.S., customers are usually "comped" at least a drink or a dessert for unsatisfactory food or service. Has MJ's become a tad complacent? I'll no longer recommend this place to anyone.

We visited Madame Janette's for the second time last week. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. I made reservations on line at three different restaurants before arriving in Aruba. I noted for each restaurant that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Of the three restaurants Madame Janette was the only one to provide us a complimentary Champagne toast. We loved it. They also seated us close to the amazing two piece band which played all of our requests. It was so fun and romantic.

MADAME JANETTE (MJ) has long been everyone's favorite place to dine in ARUBA and rightfully so. Good and plentiful food at reasonable prices with good service is always a good draw and MJ has justifiably benefited from that reputation for many years. However, in the past few years, it seesm to have become a bit complacent and that has affected and is reflected in any number of declining aspect at the place. MJ used to be great - that is no longer the case. The reputation lingers on but the performance does not rise to the standards that were once maintained. MJ is still good - but there are better dining venues that have eclipsed them. One stop at MJ per trip to ARUBA still remains our standard and we hope that we will not be disappointed in the future so as to necessitate changing this ritual. By all means go - just go with a lesser expectation than the one that you may take from the reputation of the place. AS good as the food will be - it was much better before.

We have been to Madam Janette's at least 10 times and it remains our favorite restaurant in Aruba. The food is consistently excellent, although the service can be a bit uneven. On our last visit, our service suffered a bit with a large table nearby occupying our waiter's attention. However, on the previous visit, we had exceptional service. This was a special occasion for my mother-in-law's birthday and the meal and special attention was probably the highlight of her trip.

Remains our favorite restaurant on Aruba. They do everything well. Recent visit gave us a great table with patient, attentive service. Had great food in a special atmosphere.

We have been going to Madame Janettes for over ten years. In the beginning, it was our favorite restaurant on the Island, but after our experience this week, we will never go again. We had several complaints and though our waitress was wonderfully apologetic, when she mentioned our concerns to the owner, he told her that he was not concerned and he told her to tell us he wasn't going to give us anything. We never asked for anything but just we responding to our waitress's asking us how happy we were with the meal. The manager/owner never even came over to the table to talk to us. Maybe he has so many customers, he doesn't care, but for us there are many other restaurant as good or better and many also more reasonble for us to be back to his again

I just returned to NYC from Aruba on Saturday night and completed my vacation with dinner at Madame Janette's. This is by far my FAVORITE restaurant on the island! Great food, as good as anything i've ever had and NYC has alot of great places. Try the pork tenderloin with onions and the chocolate sufflet for dessert..AMAZING!

My husband &I,long with our brothers and sister a total of about 5 families have been going to this restaurant for the past ten years since the year 2000. We immediately arrive at our hotel and make the reservations for Madame Jeannettes for at least one time during our stay. We have not been disapointed ever. The service is great and the food far surpases our expectations. I am looking foward to this year in going again in June. It deffinately would be Zagat rated!
