Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

The best food in Aruba! It melted in your mouth. We had the Chilean Sea Bass and Old Butchers Steak. I recommend! Little slow in getting our check but not to bad. We will dine there again!

This was by far our worst experience on the island. Everything was going great, though our table was right on this fence where there was trash, and then this stray cat was all over the place, jumping on the tables where the silverware was, we hate cats and kept crawling through our legs, we complained several times to the staff to get rid of the cat, but they seemed to look at us as though we were in the wrong and having some stray animal near food was sanitary? We quickly ate and jetted out of there and did tell the management on our way out about our terrible experience, they apologized, we wonder if the cat is still there, in any case drinks on the house would have been nice way to compensate any complaining patron.

I am a local and M.J. was one of my favorite restaurants. I am a bit dissapointed with my recent visit, I think all that business that they have been getting and all the money that they have been making they have slipped up a bit in their quality of food and service. It was not the same what I was used too and it is a pity that I had to pay so much for a meal and get an average meal instead of the supberb meal that I am used too. To the restaurant I would suggest please pay more attention to your food and service.

We've just returned from a two week visit to Aruba and ate at MJ's twice. We've been going to this restaurant since they first opened nearly 10 years ago. We were more than pleasantly surprised to try new appetizers and new entrees on their summer menu that uphold the quality and reputation of this wonderful restaurant. New to us this year was an appetizer that consisted of sushi grade tuna and sashimi along with various sushi rolls. Excellent! We next ordered the chilean sea bass. So good we both ordered it again the following week. We ended our meal with the chocolate souffle and vanilla ice cream and cherries. The owners and staff take great pride in running a first rate operation. It deserves to be on everyone's 'must try'list. It remains a consistently wonderful dining experience.

This place was worth the money! My husband and I were there in August of 2008 for our honeymoon and this was the BEST lobster we both had on the island.

They remembered from our booking that it was our honeymoon and served us champagne toasts on the restaurant!!!

Don't believe the hype. Worth going, but certainly not 'fine dining'. Ambiance is like sitting in someones back yard, quaint, romantic, stray cats, insects, etc. Menu is convoluted, confusing and unorganized. Food was overdressed and portions were too large and almost everything has creamed spinach on or over it. Service is great if you like being totally left alone and ignored while spending 40-60 USD per person.

This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. The food was exceptional and the service impeccable (we had Sam and Omar and they were an outstanding team). We will definitely be returning to this restaurant on our next trip.

One of the best meals that my wife and I have enjoyed in a long time. The service and entertainment were top notch. The Almond Grouper and Lobster Ravioli were to die for. We will make this a definite stop when we return to Aruba.

Please use my review as a warning before you spend your money and a precious vacation evening dining here. GO ELSEWHERE!!!!! There are countless better options in Aruba that will treat you right. In my 30 years of vacationing around the world, I have never ever dealt with a more uncaring, rude and unprofessional staff. We attended Madame Janettes with friends and heard great things about the food and the restauarant. One problem - the restaurant is mainly outdoors and there is no A/C so if you want to spend $ 300 and sweat to death then you will enjoy this place. We have a special needs son who does not have a diverse diet and we need to bring food for him to eat and 99% of places never mind this and it never causes a concern. Here it caused a major problem with their management. Before we were even served, one of the staff members were rudely sent to my table and scolded us for bringing in "OUTSIDE FOOD" and that we needed to get rid of it immediately. And if we did not comply they would still charge us for a kids meal. When we tried to explain that we had a special needs child and that he would not eat their food - this still caused a problem. I went to the owner and he yells at my wife that we were the 7th person to bring in food and that it was insult. So I have no idea why the other 6 families did not hear his venting and I was the lucky one. So my family did something we have never done in 30 years of vacationing. WE WALKED OUT. They had no care or concern for my sons well being only their ridiculous made up repuatation for being an upscale gourmet carribbean restaurant and us bringing in outside food was tarnishing it in some way. If you have a special needs child or know someone with a special needs child, PLEASE BOYCOTT MADAME JEANETTES as their behavior is incomprehensible.
