Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

Our favorite and most recommended restaurant in Aruba. Everything I have ordered over six years had been wonderful and the 'Old Butcher Steak' is possibily the best steak I have ever eaten. Chris, Carlos and Nathan will truely make you feel special with their 'welcome home' treatment. We will be back again and again.

My wife and I dined here the last night of our recent vacation and had a great time. Menu, service & atmosphere are fantastic. Food was delicious. Some words of advice, ask not to be seated at a table directly below the trees unless you want to run the risk of getting a surprise dropped on you or your table from the birds living above...

Maybe it was what I ordered. My girlfriend liked the place but I had the Lobster Thermador and it was at best acceptable. Not an impressive presentation. And for me, eating outdoors on a tropical island is not necessarily something I enjoy. I don't like sweating while I eat. It was crowded, hot and all too expensive! Not a good value.

Took mom and dad to MJ for mom's birthday last Monday. We had reservations for 7pm and arrived 15 minutes early, and were seated right away.
I ordered the mixed salad (all fresh) and the mushroom puff pastry appetizer which is big enough for one person, not to split. I did give mom and dad a bite and they loved it as well!
Drinks came right away, water was constantly filled. Bread was refilled promptly when asked. I ordered the Gianni Versace, excellent temperature on the steak, mom had the shrimp casserole and dad had the grouper. All excellent meals..cooked to perfection. We had no room left for dessert! Service was excellent, the overall experience was very pleasant. Some times when they see that we are locals we get pretty mediocre service, but not here. Let's hope they keep it that way.

Where do I even begin? I'd been in touch with Job prior to our visit, so he knew we were celebrating an anniversary, and he also knew my husband had recently been diagnosed with a wheat allergy - and his favorite MJ dish, the Almond Grouper, is made with bread crumbs. When we arrived, we were shown to the bar and presented with Kir Royales, excellent champagne cocktails. Then we were seated, and Chris, one of the managers, came over and discussed the allergy situation with my husband. He excused himself, and returned five minutes later, telling us the chef felt he could make a suitable Almond Grouper without the bread crumbs. He was right. It was delicious, as was everything else we had! MJ is our favorite Aruba restaurant, for so many reasons, and now we can add yet another reason! Great place, great food, great service, great people. We would never, ever visit Aruba without dining here at least once.

We went here twice out of the 7 nights we stayed in Aruba. This was in the top three of our favorites. The food is delicious. The seafood was cooked to perfection & so fresh! The portions were big which is always a plus! The chocolate souffle was outstanding! My children each loved their meals. This place is a must!

We arrived 15 minutes early and seated us immediately in a very nice quiet corner location. Service was fast, friendly and pleasant. Food was absolutely delicious and very plentiful. My almond grouper was the best tasting I have ever had. Kudos to the chef. Prices weren't too bad unless you order a bottle of wine which of course can really boost the bill. Don't miss this experience. It was our first trip to Aruba and Madame Janettes will be at the top of our list for our next visit.

Before going to Aruba we heard from 2 people who live there that Madame Janettes was a good place to eat. Also that you need a reservation. For 2 nights we called the restaurant repeatedly, letting the phone ring until it was disconnected. No one would answer (we called other places so there was no problem with our phone). On the 3rd night a man answered sounding very rushed. I asked for a reservation for Tuesday night. He quickly said he had 2 times available, 6 pm & 9 pm. We took the 9 pm. On Tuesday we arrived at 9 pm to find the restaurant locked up and dark. The man did not bother to tell us they aren't open on Tuesdays. Luckily we were still able to eat at our resort that late at night. But on our next trip we will definately not include this place.

Jim had a great steak. Marcias steak was not so great. The big disapointment was the service. It started at the Bar. No one was getting a drink for at least 10 minutes. Then at the table you just couldnt find your waiter when you needed something. I felt rushed and heard they try to turn the tables 3 times a night. To much like a factory to me.

We return to Aruba every year in May and can't wait to eat at Madame Janette's. We go at least twice during our vacation. The staff is very friendly and know us after 8 visits to the island. They make us feel like family when we eat there. Always get an outside table, so lovely with all the lights in the trees. We love the weiner snitzel and the portion covers the whole plate. The scalloped potatoes are great and the atmosphere is very romantic. Don't understand the bad reviews that people give this restaurant. New York people should stay in New York and eat there. They are unhappy with everything outside of that city. Just stay there and do us all a favor. We love Madame Janette's.
