Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

This March will be our 4th time to
Madame Janette's. In our previous times
we were not disappointed with the food
or service. The staff was VERY PLEASENT
and went out of there way to accommodate us. Madame Janette's is on
par with some of the best restaurants
in NYC. We are looking forward to our
return. PFG

as a new yorker who has the privelege of eating in the best restaurants in the world, i have to say this commercial establishment which i was led to beleive was amazing, was by far one of the worst meals and dining experiences i have ever had in my life. you sit outside on gravel in uncomfortable chairs to start off. the lobster ravioli had no lobster. after that i knew it would be downhill. my grouper came camoflaged with what i think was brown gravy. you couldn't taste the fish at all. the souffle was dry with some sort of tasteless ice cream. aruba is not a gastronomical paradise by any means, but if you want a really good meal with a charming atmosphere go to chez mathilde.

Dining date-1/5/07
We went on our last night in Aruba, and had we gone earlier in our trip we all said that this was one restaurant that we would have gone back a 2nd time.
We were seated as soon as we gave our name as we had long standing reservations.
The server was personable, experienced, professional, polished and phenomenal.
The appetizers were fantastic.
The entree presentation was tremendous.
The portions size was huge.
The taste of the food was stupendous.
The price was reasonable.
Go once, and Go twice and go again.
This was an experience not to be missed!

went during xmas vacation. totally overcrowded, and was seated in a table in the farthest corner of the restaurant. had to walk through several feet of small rocks to get to this prime table. rocks were impossible to walk on in high heels. waiter was very pleasant though. all the food was swimming in all kinds of sauces and oils, almost scary to eat, although we requested 'very little oil' or no sauce at all. the carribean dieters delight - is VERY FAR from a 'diet dish'. the fish is pan or deep fried in all kinds of breading and lard. i returned my oil-fested/deep fried fested 'diet delight' several times and begged for no breading. no matter how corrected, it still was soaked in oil and crust! i ended up with one cup of tea for dinner, and went back to my room and ate a STARKIST tuna package. this place has no clue about lite eating, so DO NOT go here if you dont want a thousand-calorie plus meal. horrible evening.

I am a Manhattanite and have frequented many of the finest establishments in the Big Apple. This place is the pits! Fine dining doesn't include sauces on everything straight out of the can! You can tell that everything is precooked in advance. I have never been served my meal in casserole dishes. The concierges at the hotels are hawking this place like it's the best. It's obvious they don't know What they are talking about.

Absolutely the first reservation we make and we always dine at MJ's 2-3 times eat trip. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere and entertainment is wonderful and the most consistent restaurant on Aruba. The portions are substantial so you may have some leftovers but a great value as well.

We dined here twice in the week we spent in Aruba during November. It was our favorite meal of the trip.

We enjoyed the bread served with onions on the side, definitely something different. We started off by sharing a caesar salad. For our entree both times, we ordered the almond crusted grouper - out of this world and just about falling off the plate, it was so large. We tried mightly to finish the portion, but were unable to. That's because we needed to have room for dessert - a yummy chocolate souffle.

Service was okay. The first night was better than the second. It just wasn't that attentive, and we feel that we shouldn't have to flag down the waiter to get his attention.

The atmosphere was wonderful. Both times we were seated in the area covered in white stones, in front of the singer. The entertainment was enjoyable. We will definitely return next month when we bring the rest of the family.
