Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

We visited Madame Janette's on the advice of a waiter at the hotel where we were staying. Wonderful advice! Everything about this restaurant was First Class... friendly staff, beautiful ambiance, and delicious food.

We just returned from Aruba for our 5 year anniversary. We had heard good things about Madame Jennette and had decided to try it one night....OH My God....We have never had such great food and we are from New York...The atmosphere was great from the outdoor seating to the great live music. This one is a must see and try the shrimp with cheese. It was so good it melted in your mouth!!!

We have been going to Aruba for four years. This was our first time to Madame Janette. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we were seated very promtly. I was impressed with the menu and very surprised with the variety. Atmosphere was excellent! Service was very good and our meal was served within 20-30 minutes. Perfect timing in my mind.Despite the popularity, there was no rushing to get us out. Everything was fantastic! This was our last evening in Aruba and my feeling was we saved the best for last.

My husband and I had an excellent experience here! This was definitely our favorite restaurant on the island, next time we will make sure to come back at least twice. The shrimp casserole was delicious and the pork tenderloin smothered in gouda was amazing. We had choclate souffle with pumpkin seed ice cream for desert, and we both agreed it was the best desert we had ever had anywhere! Our waiter was great, he was polite, there when we needed him, but knew when to give us our privacy. I believe it was one of the owners who stopped by our table to chat for a minute, very nice man. The atmosphere is very charming as well. This restaurant is a can't miss!

After careful consideration, my husband and I decided to try Madame Jeanette.

We were seated promptly for our 6:00 reservation. The garden setting was very nice. It was apparent that Madame Jeanette is a popular restaurant; it was quite busy.

The bus-person was right on top of things; she made sure our water glasses were always full. Little did we know, that was as good as it was going to get.

It took 40 minutes before our order was taken. Courses were extremely slow in coming and during that time three other tables were seated in our server's section. After 2 hours of waiting, we finally received our entrees. By that time the patrons from the other three tables were gone after being served their meals. No explanation, nothing from our server. My husband went to talk to the manager regarding our concerns. Three different people came to our table with excuses, but no apologies.

The server offered up complimentary deserts which did not interest us. When she brought us our check she said, "Next time you come in let them know that you had a bad experience." No apology. Were they going to fix everything the next time; why not now? I couldn't believe that she actually thought we would even entertain that idea of dining there again.

Our cab driver said, "The food is good, but the service is terrible. They have so many customers that they just don't care." I wish we knew that before we made our decision to dine there.

We ended up leaving without tipping the server, but we did tip the bus-person. I can probably count on one hand how many times I haven't left a tip (I'm 48 and work in the corporate office of a restaurant chain).

Needless to say, if we are fortunate enough to visit Aruba again, we won't be dining at Madame Jeanette, but they won't miss us anyway.

For a great meal, beautiful sunset and excellent, friendly service, we recommend Marandi. Everyone there makes you feel welcome.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food is incredibly good, very rich and filling. If you're on a diet, forget it for one night and splurge at Madame Janette! My wife had the steak special and loved it, and my pork cordon bleu was absolutely oozing with cheese. The service was great, and Madame Janette was one of our top two dining experiences in Aruba!

Madame Jeanette's is consistently excellent. We come to Aruba every 2 or 3 years and always find Jeanette's to be the best restaurant on the island. This visit my wife and I ordered two of the seafood specials, and they were both fantastic. I had a Chilean seabass with a white sauce of some kind, and it was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted.
Recently my wife and I ate at a very pricey French restaurant, Citronelle, rated as the best in Washington D.C., but it couldn't hold a candle to M. Jeanette's (at TWICE the price)!

When one reads excellent reviews about a restaurant, such as Madame Janette's, one may be disappointed when actually dining there. This was not the case with our visit to this excellent establishment.

Everything about our visit was top shelf. It is a bit off the beaten path, but once you enter, the atmosphere is engaging and relaxed. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was informative and patient, and he and a bevy of others were very attentive.

The food was superb. My golden snapper and my wife's steak were, respectively, some of the best we ever had.

We highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

My daughter and I dined at Madam Jeannette's the evening before departing the island (5/30/07) - we were mpressed by being seated within minuets of walking in the door - the ambiance in the dining area set the perfect dinner mood for us - the food was off the hook - italian cornbread w/ pickled onions (we smashed it)- grouper w/ white sauce/spinach mouth-watering, delicious; my daughter had the shrimp salad which she enjoyed as well. The only draw back was the coffee, which I love, but not for cost of $10... I was okay with the house wine. I would definitely go to MJ's again. Kudos to the staff and to the gentleman from Charlotte, NC that suggested MJ's.
