Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

We ate here on May 31 and found that the reviews might be a little over rated -- it's very good but not spectacular. Yes the portions are too large and are well prepared but being huge does't make the food better. We found that the restaurant is huge - I would gurss seating for 200 and basically it's outdoors - and that's not all that pleasant when it's 90 degrees at 8 PM. We enjoyed the indoor and more intimate dining at Chefs Tables better, the food is presented with more artistry , the service is friendlier and the portions are of a more enjoyable size.

The food was great but the portions were ridiculously HUGE. We were full after finishing our appetizers and because of it ended up throwing more than half of our dinners away. I wish the waitperson would have warned us especially at around $30 per plate. The next time I think we'll get 2 apps, share a dinner and save some room for dessert.

Love this restaurant. Always eat here at least twice during our 2 week stay. We have been coming to Aruba several years and have gotten to know everyone. So when we return,it is like seeing family again. Wait all year just to return to "Madame Janette's". Will be back next May!!!

Ate here twice in our 9 day trip to Aruba, and would have gone back a third time if we could have arranged it. My favorite restaurant on the island. First trip, I had the Shrimp Coco di Rasta, great (but very very filling) and my husband finally tried the Almond Grouper. Second trip, I had my favorite, the Shrimp Casserole du Chef, and my husband HAD to have the grouper again, that's how much he loved it. He is still talking about it. On the second trip I also tried an asparagus soup which was out of this world, but the portion was so large, and of course I finished it, I couldn't finish my main course! They also make the best Cosmopolitan on the island. Already looking forward to next year!

When you go back, and go back to a
restaurant, your expectations remain
high. Madame Janette always delivers.
It is "World Class". Beyond a 10 rating. We visited again last week,
and enjoyed great Lobster ravioli, and
fantastic Surf and Turf dinners.
Great wine list too. Make reservations
for this fine restaurant. We will
be back to see you again on our next trip. Thank you for a great night out.

The food is quite good, but this place should be visited just for the ambiance – rattan tables and comfortable chairs situated among beautifully lighted trees and torches. The night we were there, they even had two musicians who were quiet, but wonderful. The lobster ravioli was delectable. Our steak was fantastic - béarnaise sauce and cheese, mushrooms and onions between two thick cuts of burger loin (which is not a burger, but a tender, flavorful cut of beef) with a side of shaved sweet potato fries. The golden snapper special was also quite good, as was the dessert - some kind of ice cream or gelato with cherry sauce. Excellent wine list, as well.

I've been here twice and each time I was impressed with the food and ambiance. This is a great romantic restaurant, I would recommend coming here later for dinner when the sun has gone down and the torches are lit and the live music is playing. You feel like your in a tropical environment and its so cozy. The service is top notch and friendly. The food is the best part, but it is very rich. You will leave feeling full but it will be worth it.

Finding Madame Janette can be a bit tricky but if you like you can take a taxi here or just venture and you will eventually find your way. The prices are consistent with the other restaurants expect to pay 20 to 35 for your entree. The lamb was divine, prepared perfectly medium rare. The filet mignon was another excellent choice. Everything is creative, plated nicely and impresses even the pickiest of palates.

Make sure if your in Aruba, make a reservation they get booked up fast.
