Madame Janette
Ramon Helgers and Karsten Gesing founded Madame Janette April 2nd
1999. Their collaboration resulted into a place, which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere.

Ramon is responsible for the exotic fruits, herbs and vegetables you will find in not only our dishes, but also in most supermarkets on Aruba. Karsten, a European Master Chef, trained in 'old school' traditions creates, with help from his knowledgeable international
staff, tasteful and creative dishes. Their combined worldwide experience
gives their dishes an original flavour with a touch of Caribbean in it. We call it the Madame Janette Experience! We hope that you will have a wonderful dining romance.

My husband and I have been going to MJ's since it opened. We just love it. We have sent our friends and family from home, and they all feel the same. We just had 2 great dinners there. The Rack of lamb is the best on the island. My husband had their signature "Butcher Steak" whicn melted in his mouth. The staff is the friendliest, and best on the entire island, the reason we go back so many times. The ambiance is just beautiful, sitting outside under the moonlight with beautiful music, played by a grat husnband and wife team.
Thanks for another great eveinging of good food and wonderful 5 star service. We will go again in March, 3x!

Disappointing!! After hearing many raves about MJ'S, we were excited to give it a try. We have dined at many "high end" restaurants in Aruba and expected more than was delivered. The crispy asparagus was missing the crumbled gorgonzola and lacked flavor. My sea bass was cooked perfectly, unfortunately every other item on the plate was either overpowering (soy) or bland (wasabi mashed potatoes). All in all, every plate lacked the "zing" we expected, the flavors were muddled, at best. For the price, we expected much more.

We've eaten here now 2 times and continue to love it. It's a great environment as you are seated outside. This past visit, I had the almonded coated grouper and the fish was at least 12-14 0z. Let's just say it was huge. It came with really good dutch potatoes cooked with bacon and onions. For dessert, we took a gamble and tried the key lime pie, but it wasn't what I had expected. I don't blame the restaurant as I'm normally a chocolate guy and skipped out as I figure it would be good to try something new. In any case, everything else was great, service was perfect and it's a place I'd recommend to others visiting the island.

Over all, the best food, staff and restaurant on the island. Service is prompt and friendly, portions are huge. Our daughter swears by the Grouper, hubby loves the Cordon Bleu and steak or one of the specials is usually my choice. Anyone we recommend MJ's to has not been disappointed.

Food, presentation and service was excellent. Had Sea Bass (special) and Grouper (menu) and it was cooked perfectly. Sides of potato au gratin and creamed spinach were as good as I've ever had. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We really enjoyed MJ's. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was very Carribbean and our waiter, Wesley, was the greatest! The guitar player was very good too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

I have been going to MJs for years but after this experience its time to move on and spend my money elsewhere. The food was good but not great -This place seemed to have slid over the last few years. I asked for my steak cooked Medium well and it came out rare - sent it back it came out medium rare = finally the third time I eat whatever they gave me but it was still under cooked- service was horrible horrible horrible - the waiter was slow never came by to ask how things were and spent the night chatting with guests rather than serving them - the place is also very hot and crowded
This place is not worth the money

had been told over and over to go here during our stay so decided to give it a try. While I agree the food itself is beyond wonderful, the service we got left ALOT to be desired! We were seated with the sun in ones face , then moved and it then took a while to even get someone to come take the starter order-she seemed to be waiting for us to ALL lay down our menus totally. They had a "team concept" of people bringing food etc so hard to know who to ask for what. The FOOD was WOW-though will say did not totally love the crabcake starter as the sauce was so sweet it overwhelmed and crabmeat was non-existent. However, the seafood and beef dinners were excellent. Tried for dessert and ordered the Swiss Choc Souffle but after waiting and waiting, they NEXT waitress came out with 2 slices of choc. CAKE! Kitchen had "misunderstood" what we wanted. Again great tasing food but service was like it had opened last week not for years. Will give another try down the road but not my Top 10
