I researched restraurants before our trip to Aruba and brought a list with us. After spending a day touring the island we decided to try Chalet Suisse. It was just before 6 when we arrived without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The early bird special was available. My husband ordered from the early bird menu and had Wiener Schnitzel. Having read that Chalet Suisse was noted for the rack of lamb, I chose the lamb. My husband was disappointed that he had not ordered the lamb as well. The veal was okay, but the lamb was exceptional. The rack contained 6 chops cooked to perfection. When asked how I'd like the meat cooked, I asked how the chef preferred to serve the chops. Waiter replied medium so that's what I ordered. It was perfect, just a touch of pink, very tender and tasty. The lamb was served with mint jelly and a brown sauce. I'm not a fan of mint jelly and the brown sauce was rather tasteless (could have used Port or wine). However the chops were so tasty that a sauce was not needed. Green beans and a baked potato accompained the chops. Green beans were delicious but I would have preferred less butter fat (thinking of calories). Although dessert came with the early bird special, we ordered the chocolate fondue as well. The apple strudel was good, somewhat crispy crust with lots of apples. The chocolate fondue was good but not excellent. We prefer a dark semi-sweet sauce and this was a rather thin, milk chocolate a bit too sweet. The fruit served with the fondue was excellent. The cake was dry. Next time, I'd order the chocolate fondue and ask for more fruit without the cake. A few days later, we decided to go back to Chalet Suisse for more rack of lamb. It was just as good the second time and my husband was a happy camper! The wine list is limited with few choices by the glass. We would have preferred a peppery California Zinfindal with the lamb, but none available. We had reservations for our second visit which was a Saturday evening. They were able to accomodate us by changing the time of arrival from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Why miss a beautiful sunset?!?

Chalet Suisse is located next to Paradise Beach Villas in the low rise hotel section, and they only have indoor seating. We love going to Chalet Suisse for dinner, and it’s a “must” on every visit to Aruba. The food is very good, with large portions at reasonable prices, and the service is excellent. You see a lot of tourists that are repeat customers, and you very often see Arubans eating there. We ate there twice on this last trip. The first time we both had the French Onion Soup for an appetizer, and one order of the Chalet Chicken and one order of the Roast Duckling for entrées. We split a small dish of ice cream for dessert, and brought back some of the chicken for lunch the next day. The second time we had one order of Dutch Pea Soup and one order of Escargot for appetizers, and one order of Roast Duckling and one order of the Chilean Sea Bass for entrées. We split an apple strudel for dessert, and took home some of the duck for lunch the next day. We love everything we’ve tried there, but our favorite appetizer is French Onion Soup, and our favorite entrée is the Roast Duckling.

After 7 trips to Aruba , I am ashamed to say this was our first visit.
After reading reviews on B.B. decided to try it-unfortunately we saved
this for our last night-otherwise we would have been back several times!
Took the recommendations I've read and had the rack of lamb and
my husband had the seabass. They were both outstanding! The
service was excellent. Even found room for the chocolate fondue.
Looking forward to our next trip and many more wonderful dinners
at Chalet Suisse.

Our new favorite restaurant is the Chalet Suisse. The decor is attractive, seating comfortable, staff attentive, food awesome. There is no dress code but resort casual is appropriate.

We were sent there by Aurelio, beach attendant at the Aruba Grand. He put us on to the rack of lamb. Our plan was that we would forgo our usual habit of splitting a rack and get a whole rack each. Thus we would have leftovers for lunch. But it was the best rack of lamb we had ever tasted, and Benny, the Maitre'd, encouraged us to pick the bones clean -- so we ate it all, thus proving that Bobby Burns was right.

We spent a week in Aruba and Chalet Suisse was by far our finest dining experience. The food was perfectly prepared and the service was gracious and efficient.Prices were quite reasonable compared to some restaurants we had visited and the portions were perfect. This is the place to go for friendly atmosphere, fantastic food, and great music. The menu is large and the quality superb. Select anything, you will love it.

Simply the best on the island. Have been going here since it opened and
it just keeps on getting better. The meat is wonderful, flown in from
New York by the owner. Try the rack of lamb! There is no better
dessert on the island than the fondue.

My husband and I just recently ate at Chalet Suisse for the first time and overall we were very impressed. The decor was extremely nice whic is always the first thing I notice. No plastic flowers on the table like French Steakhouse! We each had the french onion soup which was superb and then the beef stroganoff for our main meal and the chocolate fondue for dessert. Dessert was by far the highlight. No matter how full you are you really should try it! The only dissapointmenthere was that I had emailed te restaurant in advance and was assured that we would receive a specific table since we were celebarting our anniversary. We did not receive the table or any special wishes.

My wife and I had an excellent meal at Chalet Suisse. Benny, the Maitre D seated us at a lovely, private table overlooking the water (facing the water). The service was top-notch and the food was excellent. We shared the escargot as an appetizer, I had the Chef's special Chilean Sea Bass and my wife had the Caribbean chicken - both were very good.

For desert, we had the Toblerone chocolate fondue (a must if you like chocolate). With two glasses of wine, a cocktail and two cappucinos, the whole meal came to around $100 with a 20% gratuity (15% is included in the bill but the service was exceptional).

I would highly recommend this restaurant.
