Driftwood Restaurant
We are located in the heart of downtown and offer you and your guests a unique dining experience. Enjoy the freshest fish, biggest shrimp, or the most succulent Caribbean lobster amid the rustic ambiance of the natural driftwood dining room. Our menu includes a large variety of typically Aruban delicacies including our three star fish soup and our mouth-watering filet of fish served with a mild creole sauce (Aruban Style), a seafood lovers dream come true. Furthermore all dishes are prepared with an Aruban touch and accompanied by pan bati, our famous Aruban corn bread.

not worth the risk

Situated on a street occupied by prostitutes and homeless this restaurant that claims to serve the freshest fish only offers two fresh catches. Our fish was adequate but the shrimp cocktail was likely from frozen shrimp. Our child ordered the lobster tails, also frozen, since they do not offer fresh lobster and it was soft and going rancid. The children's menu was of poor quality and the waitress admitted the mac and cheese was from Kraft.

we had fish at Gianni last night and it was wonderful.

Superior Restaurant

This was our fifth trip to Aruba (Renaissance). Best visit to Driftwood yet. Excellent good (Garlic shrimp and Curry Shrimp). I realize that you are supposed to have the fresh fish, but they can also go off of mainline with great success.

Great food

I will start with the good which was the food. We both had the Wahoo 2 different ways and it was excellent. The sides are boring a baked potatoe and vegatbles, not much of a presentation. When we received the menus it looked like they use them as placemats. They had food on them and were faded out. There are simple fixes that do not cost a lot of money that would make this restaurant one of the best on the island.

CONSISTENTLY GOOD

Mar 18, 2013 - posted by

DRIFTWOOD continues to be one of the better seafood places in ARUBA and one of the more affordable ones. They traditionally do a SPECIAL and it is always fabulous, well priced, and tasty - but you have to ask for it - be sure to do so. This may not be the fanciest place that you can eat at in ARUBA or the best meal that you will have but it does provide a very good meal at very reasonable prices, in a unique setting, with service that almost rises to the level of pampering. We continue to highly recommend the place to everyone and tout it highly as an alternative to some of the higher priced fancier dining facilities available and that is done without any attempt to detract from their quality as well. GO AND ENJOY.

This one has gone adrift

Dec 25, 2012 - posted by
We have been going to driftwood for many years, and this year will be the last.

What used to be a nice, simple place that offered fresh fare and reasonable prices has become a cash cow for their owners.

The service has never been terrific. But that has always been made up by the food. Unfortunately, they decided to improve upon their profits, and not their restaurant.

Garlic bread is plentiful, and offered often. I guess they are hoping to have you fill up on the carbs so you won't be disappointed with the teeny portions.

I ordered fried calamari for my appetizer and was presented with a plate consisting of 4 fried circular pieces on a plate adorned with some wilted lettuce. Really ?!?!? My wife asked me not to complain as it had already taken so long to get served. The other appetizers were equally as skimpy (can you imagine how happy we were to have finally been served our appetizers after waiting over 20 minutes and being given at least three baskets of bread?)

If you think that the portions are small for appetizers, just wait for the main courses. And wait you will...

The fish is tasty, but again, the portions for the prices you pay are out of whack! You may as wel eat at Windows on Aruba, or some other top ten Aruban restaurant ranked here at this web site. You will go to an upscale restaurant, pay the same prices, get better service, and eat in a nicer place that has some ambience, not like eating in some college cafeteria.

Great Choice

Just came back from 2 weeks in Aruba, found the Driftwood the first week and took guests back to The Driftwood the second week. Both times the food was amazing. Their catch of the day was excellent, and their Sea Bass perhaps the best in town.
Dinner salads were fresh, tasty and well presented. Service both times was exceptional. Made it to our Dining List of must visit every year. The choices on the Special Menu were very good and well worth the value of a complete meal package.

Best Dinner in Aruba

Jul 14, 2012 - posted by
We have been going to Aruba for 25 years and have never tried Driftwood. Our favorite Taxi Driver always tells us we need to eat at Driftwood. On this trip we took his advice. The food and service were amazing-from the Whole Red Snapper to the Blackened Shrimp, everthing was amazing. The corn bread, polenta and plantains made the meal even better. We cannot wait to return on our next trip.
