El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

we ate here for lunch one afternoon and loved it. we both ordered the tenderloin and thought it was exceptional. the atmosphere is great and you have to love the cowhide backs on the benches and the cowhide artwork. the sides were great. their smashed potatoes were tasty. bathrooms were basic but plentiful and clean. very nice atmosphere and very memorable.

We've seen alot of changes over the past 10 years of patronage-all for the better. We do go early(before 7pm) and it's not as crowded, noisy and the service has been great. Decor is definite steakhouse ambiance and not the place for a romantic/quiet dinner. Steaks have always been tender and cooked as ordered. Love the Chimmichurri sauce and always bring some home with us. (I guess others liked the sauces also).I really enjoyed the flexibity of the new menu and choosing with sides I wanted. Great place to do low-carb diet!

Simply the best steakhouse on the island! We had 8 pm reservations and the place was jammed with patrons. We ended up sitting around 8:20,no big deal, they have a wonderful bar across the street that is a must visit also. As hungry as we were, we didn't come close to finishing our meals! Steaks are prepared on charcoal grills, what a taste!!

What a surprise we received on our 5th visit to El Gaucho. They have changed the menu and NOT for the better. The steak was very salty and chewy. It was a disapointing $80.00 meal. The service was as great as always.

After all the positive things we heard about El Gaucho we put it at the top of our list of restaurants to try. Now it's on our "do not return" list. Nothing terrible, but just did not live up to the hype. There's too many great restaurants we still have to try. Service was very disappointing and careless. The food was okay, nothing to write home about.

We had been warned not to come here by a friend, as he was didn't enjoy his meal. I'm sure glad we didn't listen to him, as this was perhaps the best meal we had on our vacation this past summer. The steaks were juicy and cooked just right. The three "dippers" that were put on the table were good compliments to the steaks. We will go back to El Gaucho on our next visit back to Aruba.

We have been to Aruba for many years now, and this is by far our favorite restaurant. Every year we get to Aruba, one of the first things is to make our reservations for that week, usually 2 times that week. The steaks are fabulous, the sauces are tasty and the service is usually outstanding!

I have been to El Gaucho's twice now and I would absolutely recommend it for anyone who enjoys phenomenal service and the most delicious steak you will ever eat. Both times, in 2003 and 2005, the service was exceptional and the food was so good. We were seated right away - one suggestion is to make an earlier reservation, as it is everywhere in Aruba, they become very crowded after 7:30ish. Both times, this has been the best restaurant we have eaten at.

We had reservations for 8:00. We arrived at 8:00 and were told that it would be a few minutes and to wait across the street in the cigar bar. It was so smoky and disgusting in there that we had to wait in the street for our table. We were finally called at 8:45. We ordered the mixed grill and the meat was very tough. The atmosphere was nice but we felt we were being rushed. We were barely finished with appetizers when the main course came. For the price I'm paying, I don't like to be rushed. This place is very "commercial". We will not be going back. Very overrated.
