El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

Wonderful, Wonderful ! My friends and I had 2 great dining experiences at El Gaucho during our 10 day stay in Aruba. Food was superb, do not visit Aruba without going to this restaurant twice . A special added attraction was going next door to Garufa and listening to the very talented musician Dennis Zeppenfeldt.

We had dinner here last wednesday,
Good atmosphere, because the duo
played music at the table,
The wine was not so good, had to return it,
When ordered others the year's did not match the list.
Red wines were laying up to long (warm???)
Food was what you expect from a steakhouse

FANTASTIC! If you don't eat for the rest of your holiday, you must eat here. We were only in Aruba for 8 days and we ate here twice. (I would have eaten here all of the time) I cannot fault this restaraunt. We intend to vissit Arube again for a shorter stay just so that we can eat here. The waiting bar across the road (Garufo)was also brilliant we were there on a Tuesday and the guy singing (Dennis) was superb. You need to book as it is busy every night. Can't wait to go back.

Reservations a must. Very busy and somewhat rushed. Martini bar across the street (Garufa?) is the waiting area. It is very nic, with live music and many types of martinis, of course (pricey for martinis, though). Great steaks, larger than huge portions. Both filet and strip were outstanding and prepared correctly. We would go here for steak any time.

We’ve been going to El Gaucho for 18 years, and wouldn’t dream of going to Aruba without eating there. We’re amazed that they’ve been able to keep up the quality during each expansion of the restaurant. It’s also great to see that there’s very little turnover with the staff. We’ve know the manager, Rosa, for 18 years, and we’ve had Cory as our waitress for over 12 years. We ate there twice on this last trip. The first time we had one order of the pumpkin soup and one order of the conch for an appetizer, and we both had the Churrasco steak for our entrée. About half the steak went back to our resort with us for steak sandwiches the next two days. (While we love eating the Churrasco steak in the restaurant, the steak sandwiches the next day are just as good!) The second time we had one order of conch and one order of empanadas for an appetizer, and one order of shrimp scampi (with the heads on) and one order of the Churrasco for our entrée. We finished all of the shrimp, and brought some of the steak back with us for sandwiches the next day. Needless to say, we were too full to have dessert either time. They are located on Wilheminastraat in Oranjestad, but are not located in the center of town (about a 10-15 minute walk). They only have inside seating.

My mother, sister, and I had dinner at El Gaucho our last night in Aruba. I really wish I had ate there earlier in the week, so that I could have returned before our departure.

Our reservations were for 8 PM, but we arrived early (at 6:30 PM) and were prompty seated.

The restaurant is beautiful, the service great, and the food is probably the best I've ever had. I ordered the chicken breast meal, which was delicious. It came with corn on the cob, potatos, broccoli, onions/peppers, and a salad. I was shocked at the amount of food that was included in the price of the meal! The three of us ate there for $80 and left a $10 tip (cheapest meal of our trip). I highly recommend this restaurant!

We've been to Aruba and dined at El Gaucho several times. Over the years noticed a decline in
service, reservations lost and as non smokers, sitting in a small area with several smokers.
It's been 2 years since our last Aruba trip and gave El Gaucho a chance to redeem themselves.
I was thrilled to see they separated smoking and non-big improvement! Made reservations online
and had the concierge at the hotel confirm them. Service was very attentive. We love the gaucho
steak and it was perfectly prepared and very tender. I agree with the other review, the sauce is to die for.
I wish they would bottle it. For the quantity, I feel the prices are comparible to steaks in Florida. For 2
gaucho steaks and 2 glasses of wine ~$62. Since we didn't have to wait before dinner-big suprise,
we went across the street to the bar area-very nice, good prices and nice music. Thank you El Gaucho
for proving you are still the best steakhouse!

Don't know what all the fuss is about. The food was good, but we had better beef at the French Steakhouse -- and with a more pleasant atmosphere.

The best meal on our trip. We had to wait a short time for our table, but that was taken care of by the attentive bartender. We sat upstairs which made the restroom an inconvenience but I would gladly ride it for the meal we enjoyed. The salads were simple and fresh. The steaks were the best you will ever eat. We were thrilled to have the singers sing a song at our table and listen to their other songs. If you are in Aruba you have to eat at El Gaucho.
