El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

The best steak you will ever eat. Great price. Be prepared to be expected to wait across the street at their bar, even if its for 5 minutes.

Great Argentinian Steaks and ambience but it can be quite loud. If you want to get a reservation make it before you get to Aruba!

We've been coming to El Gaucho for 11 years. It started out as a smaller "family" owned restaurant.
Over the years the size has grown & so have the lines, however, the food is always delicious. It is a production even with a reservation but the argentine steak "El Gaucho" makes it incredibly worth it each and every time! A must in Aruba for steak lovers.

I really don't know what all the hulabaloo is about this restaurant. I found the restaurant to be extremely noisy. I dined upstairs where there is absolutely no atmosphere. Restrooms are located on the first floor so an elevator has to be taken. The food was just okay. I think there are many other places on the island that have food that is just as good.

OK, we were ready for this one. Never having been there, yet hearing about the zoo-like atmosphere, the irritated people w/reservations that still had to wait across the street, the fire-trap upstairs room, we walked in with our suits of armor. We did make reservations for downstairs seating before leaving home. We also arrived 15 minutes early. Well...I'm going against the grain from this point forward. We enjoyed Garufa's and even considered returning later to listen to the band some more. My only complaint is when tables were ready they were calling people not by name but by hotel and room #. I don't think that's a good idea revealing that info publicly, but it was not the norm, only plan B since beepers weren't working that evening. (This issue is not part of the point value.)

They ignored our request and we were escorted via elevator to our upstairs table. Much to our surprise we enjoyed our window seat and it was a nice quiet atmosphere. Service was attentive and at a nice pace. Gerry's steak was wonderful and huge like all the steaks he's had so far. I ordered shrimp scampi. But for a seafood lover like myself, I will order steak next time. We can't wait for El Gaucho's secret sauce to hit the market (and we don't even use sauce at home, but this stuff was great). They call their potatoes 'home fries', but they were actually baked red potatoes in a wonderful sauce, anything but home fries. Forget the corn-on-the cob, but we weren't there for the corn. The guitarist never came upstairs but we noticed they are the same that play at Bucuti's Happy Hour. El Gaucho is definitely on our 'return' list.

Once again....a great steak!!!

This place gets busy so make your reservations early!

My only complaint is that the wait staff seems to be too busy and sometimes you can't always flag them down when you need something.

Still have not been able to finish one of their steaks yet - but the leftovers make great steak sandwiches for lunch the next day!

Go the El Gaucho when you are hungry! It's a terrific steak restaurant--great food, service, and decor. It is always busy--reservations are a must. Clearly one of the top three or four restaurants in Aruba.

A must if you're a beef fan! 1 shrimp cocktail, 1 squid Buenos Aires (not so great), Argentine grill (delicious selection of assorted meats), 1 shish kebab platter (very good), 1 crepe w caramel (shared), 2 complementary sangrias (look for the coupon). Bill was $78 w/15% tip. Nice restaurant w strolling guitar music; definitely worth a visit!

El Gaucho - Great Argentinian Steaks, as well as delicious seafood. On this night, out party numbered five, our daughter, her friend from home, as well as a delightful young man from Venezuela. Service was impeccable. My daughter had the CARIBBEAN SEAFOOD COMBINATION, A sample of our seafood dishes: conch, squid, shrimp and fish. Each prepared differently. Always the fussy eater, she cleaned her plate! Her friend had the SHRIMP SCAMPI, the shrimp were both nice sized as well as tasty. My wife had the PORK TENDERLOIN, tender and tasty. The pork tenderloin was the size we cook for her and I and expect to get 2 meals from it. Our Venezualen friend had the ARGENTINE GRILL, a selection of 5 meats. He chowed this down. I had this last year and it was all I could do to finish. I had the RIB EYE STEAK. It was prepared just as requested. It was tender and tasty, just the right amount of marbeling. We did commit a faux pax however, and we do not care, we had a delicious pinot grigio with the meal; no red wine for us. We look forward to our return next year!

After not having eaten at El Gaucho for a few years, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it's just what everyone has said it is...a wonderful steak restaurant! Service was great; food equally as good. We'll be sure to visit at least once every visit to Aruba in the future.
