Gasparito
Gasparito... The name of the area where we are located and the name
of our Restaurant-Art Gallery. In the past, areas and properties were named after
the families who owned the land. Our ancestors were Arawak Indians and Europeans,
therefore the areas on the Island have distinct Indian and European names.

A welcome respite from the plethora of surf-and-turf spots, this place does not churn out the usual lowest-common-denominator tourist dishes. I started with the scallop and squid ragout, served in an oversized vol-au-vent. The pastry could have been slightly crisper, but the scallops were tender, the filling creamy and delicious. My husband had the escargots--parmesan cheese makes a nice, unexpected touch, and the snails had a deeper, meatier flavor than those usually served in the US. The goat stew was rich and intense, with meat that fell of the bone (I was halfway through the dish before I noticed I didn't have a knife--I didn't need one!). My husband's Aruban Combo was a great introduction to less-encountered dishes, and the flavors of the three samples harmonized nicely. Loved the coconut rice side dish. We finished with quesillo (and decent coffee, which is seemingly hard to find on Aruba). A lovely restaurant, an intimate setting, and friendly service. (I also noticed one of the hosts making paper fish puppets to hand out to cranky children--nice touch!)

This is by far one of the best dinners we have ever eaten. My husband has been around the world 5 times, and says this ranks amongst the best food he has ever eaten. The food was superb, and the host gracious and attentive. We can't wait to come back again!

This charming, traditionally Aruban restaurant is highly recommended. It's only about 5 minutes by cab from the high-rises and features a wonderful patio.

My wife had the pasta (delicious) and I had the Keshi-Yena with chicken (also delicious). The warm ravioli appetizer we had (without Kerry Kerry) was also really tasty.

The owner explained all of the different menu options to us and was a friendly and gracious host.

This was our favorite place in Aruba, the only one we went to twice for dinner during the week. Try the kesh yena or keri-keri. Both were delicious, as was the Aruban combo. Service was friendly and attentive. All in all, a great place for dinner.

My wife and I loved this restaurant. It truly is a diamond among the dozen or so restaurants we have tried on the island. The original Aruban food was wonderful and the special attention by the owners made the evening a delight. We will definitely return to this restaurant on our next visit.

We've been going to this restaurant every year since 1996 and it's still one of our favorites. The atmosphere outside is lovely by the fountain and the service was great. We had our usual appetizer of Keri-Keri and then the seafood Keshi Yena and the catch of the day (Wahoo) prepared just as I requested (grilled with lemon). Food was fabulous!

We dined at this restaurant due to a suggestion from a friend who frequents the island. I have to say, this was hands down, the best dining experience we've had on the island. We were warmly greeted by the owner and the great service continued. If you are looking for the non-touristy place, this is it. The food was amazing and the portions were quite big. Ask the bartender to make you a Venezualian sangria. It is not on the menu, but he will make it special. Overall, this was a great restaurant and we highly recommend it.

We have been going to Gasparito for years now and on May 28 we once greeted by Henry, Elvina an Utahna with kisses and warmth. Once again our favourite Escargot and Ragout appitizers were enjoyed and the entrees of Goat and Shrimp Thermidor were ordered. The service is wonderful. the food is outstanding and the warm atmosphere will soothe. For true Aruban cuisine and ambiance, try the Gasparito

When my boyfriend asked where we could get an authentic Aruban meal, our concierge immediately said Gasparito's was the place. About five minutes away from the high rise hotels on Rental Car Row, the simple, cozy interior belies the quality and presentation of the food. With the exception of the fish stew, which was just average, everything else we ate was very good and well, but not overly spiced. The walls are covered with the artwork of Aruban artists and the service is warm and friendly, rounding out a thoroughly pleasant dining experience.
