Papillon Restaurant
Henri Charrière, one of the world's most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, the Frenchman was the first convict to escape from Devil's Island, something that nobody had ever done before. Charrière's thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.
Papillon Restaurant's menu reflects the Frenchman's arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. Papillon is open daily for dinner.

A warning to the readers of reviews for this restaurant, it is my humble opinion that many of the incredibly favoral "reviews" for Papillon are written by people affiliated with this restaurant.

Proof of Point:
#1: The reviews are soooooo inconsistent with customers either giving them "10" for almost everything or those customers that had a horrible dining experience and felt ripped off.

#2: As any passerby could visually determine, the "environment" of Papillon" is not even compariable to most of the Aruba eateries. The outside section sets 50 meeters off the street (killing any breeze) behind a flea market and the inside tables barely seat 30 custmers on either side of a bar where people can smoke.

3#: The prices are sky high and portions small. This was the most expensive meal we had per person and all of us were disappointed with the uncaring servce, slowness of the kithen and lack of taste and small portion size of our food. If it wasn't for this website, we would have never even known from dining there that it was a "French" restaurant.

With all due respect, how can anyone being objective in comparison to other Aruba restaurants ever consider giving this place a "10" for anything. The only motivation that I can offer to a reader is that they are not customers, but have some intererst in the restaurant.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, enter at your own risk and expect to be hungry again (and poorer) in two hours.

What a great find!
After dining all over Aruba we found Papillon restaurant in the highrise area of Aruba. We were staying at the Marriot and were recommended to dine there and what a treat!.
From start to finish our night was great. Service and the food was outstanding, especially the duck breast and the halibut! To die for!
We had the best time!
Special thanks to our great waitress who we forgot the name off. Thanks Papillon for a great night!

We had an amazing dinner Saturday night at Papillion. The service here was impeccable and the food was exceptional. We both had the Halibut special and it was one of the best meals we have had in quite a while.

You will not be disappointed with this choice!

As a foodie from the Chicago area, the home of many celebrity chefs, in our opinion the food was stellar and spot on! Service was attentive and friendly which took on a team approach. If we needed anything, another staff member anticipated our needs wihtout us having to ask. The chef is creative fusing traditional French cooking with Caribbean flavors. Price for this meal was well under par for his talent.

After reading the reviews we decided to try this one restaurant. What a dissapointment!!. My wife had a lobster tail (50 dollars!!!) that was dry and over cooked. When we asked for butter they said it had some already and walked away. They didnt bring any until we insisted. My fish was so small that it looked like an appetizer and the so called potato coating was a cold potato pancake that was too tough and over cooked to enjoy. Service was unfriendly and the place is noisey and not very pleasing. I dont know who writes their reviews but this place is one to be avoided with all the much better restaurants on the island
