We chose The Old Man and the Sea for our first dinner upon returning to Aruba, and were really happy! All the staff, especially our waiter Donald were most friendly and welcoming and we had a fabulous time, dining literally on the water on the private table on its own pier. We started dinner at sunset (spectacular colors) and enjoyed superb appetizers and entrees, all prepared with great creativity, flavors and style. The escargot stuffed mushrooms and scallops with risotto appetizers were especially good and all the seafood was fresh and delightful. The lobster tails served thermidor style got rave reviews!!. We did not have dessert as we were too full, unfortunately. All in all, we had a wonderful dinner and are looking forward to another visit.

I dare someone to find a better atmosphere on the entire island. Unbelievable view from this beachside restaurant at sunset. The Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection! Great service... the drinks stayed full and you barely knew they were there - just what I'm looking for when I'm having a romantic and memorable dinner 10 ft off the water at sunset. It is a bit of a trip from most hotels/resorts but well worth the trip. There will never be a time we don't revist Old Man and the Sea when vacationing in Aruba. Perfect 10!

The view was spectacular, even though when we arrived, the place was empty and we had to insist on an outside table. The service was horrible from the start, like we were imposing on this poor blighted waiter. The menus state that grautity is not included, but appreciated, however our waiter wrote himself a 15% tip when he presented the bill. The only time he was the least bit frendly was when we were leaving. The prices were way out of line for the quality of the food. The Mai Mai was very dry and the rib eye was WELL DONE when we asked for MED. This is probably the highest priced, worst service restaurant on the island, and we have been coming to Aruba for a while. We will never be back and I do not recommend.

The food was not worth the price. The grouper was overcooked and dried out and the Filet was undercooked. Filet was requested well done and it was rare. Escargot with Angel hair was very good. Fried oreos dessert was very rich but good. Service was slow. There are much better places to eat in Aruba. If you are looking to eat on the beach go to FLying Fishbone instead of this place.

OK, we had had a great time in Aruba, our first time but my father-in-law had been there 15 odd times.

The restaurant is relatively new so it was a first for us all, so we were all excited. Wow the greeting we got from the waitress, (never came once to enquire about how our meal was getting on(owner?), her demeanor and the weird feeling we were putting her out was an alarm bell for me...

Food was ok, but they butchered the fish by cooking it for far too long and the vegetables seemed undercooked.

Been there done that, probably never go back as there are much better places to go, although the atmosphere was wonderful.

I took my wife to the old man and the sea and we were both overjoyed with the quality and the service in every way. I typically go twice a year to Aruba and this restaurant was by far the best one me and my wife has been to so far. And trust me we've been to pretty much all of them. For anyone reading this, don't just read the hype, I'm a chef and i've worked in many places in manhattan, this place is amazing. When in aruba, think of the old man.

The best experience we had in Aruba. The food is excellent. Thumbs up for the chef!! We had grilled fresh lobster and the fresh broiled whole red snapper. service is very very good, very attentive. the place is beautifull and romantic, it should be included in the top restaurants of the caribbean. We travel a lot and we must say that it is the best experience. Worth the trip, worth every penny we spend! We will be back in december!

The food was ok. It wasn't worth the 150 bill. This was our last night and every other dinner we had was probably better, for less. The atmosphere was good. We were told about the place by another couple we met at happy hour. They said that the restaurant will send someone to pick you up and take you back since the place is in the middle of nowhere. Well they sent someone and he made us wait at another hotel and then we got there 15 minutes late and they made us pay for the cab ride home. Bottom line is a bill in excess of 180 for 2 people where we could spend half that and still have as much fun with better food.

The wife and I dinned here August 8, 2010. Very romantic setting. They have a private table setting (under cover) that you can rent for I believe 3 hours for an additional $100 US dollars. There is also another private setting that is not under cover that is also private called the pier. No extra cost to dine at this table but you must call in advance to reserve. This place is right next to The Flying Fishbone. I cannot remember what my wife’s dish was called but it consisted of chicken, vegetables and pasta. The flavor was just ok and the chicken was VERY dry. I had the filet mignon. I’ve cooked better filets than this one. It was served cold and the cut of the meat was fatty if you can believe that. Overall the setting is wonderful and possibly I had a bad cut of meat and the chief just didn’t have it going on this night as I said before the wife’s dish was just ok. The prices are on the higher side (two apps and two entrees with NO drinks plus the 15% added service charge was right around $100 US dollars). Next visit I’d have to read more reviews and try their seafood selection. My understanding is this place is just around one year old.
