We had the most amazing meal at this restaurant. The setting is the most beautiful I have ever been to anywhere in the world. We went at Sunset and then had coffee after the dessert to stay longer. Once dark all the candles are lit and it is truly beautiful. We did have our kids with us and they even appreciated how beautiful it was. They were very thankful to us for taking them there. The staff were fantastic. I would not recomend young children because it would be disruptive to the other diners and this really is a special place. They have a private cabana that you can rent and make it even more special. We have very fond memories of our night there. We will definitely go back.

There are not enough superlatives to describe how wonderful our dining experience at th OM&TS Restaurant was.
We enjoyed a very romantic Valentine's Day as we dined on the water's edge with our toes in the soft sand while watching a perfect sunset.
We found the staff to be delightful, the food delicous, great wine and the best dessert we've ever had.(Fried Oreos)
This restaurant is a must if you are looking for perfection. We definately plan to return next year.

We enjoyed a wonderful sunset on a small divan out in the sea. The meal that follwed was one of the best on the island. The staff and the tables in the sand are outstanding. Each table is set between palm tress giving privacy and within a few yards from the water. We always have a dinner here each week we are onthe island

We have been to OMATS several times since it opened. We loved it again last night. Food was excellent, hot and tasty. Had the stuffed oysters to start the the Macadameia crusted fish and the papaya grouper. Only complaint is that the Crepe Suzette was so good that the person who usually "only wants a small bite" ate way more than that.

Our waiter Rocky was a bit surrly thought maybe because were are local he didn't feel the need to be too friendly. But his assistant made up for it, with a bit of training I can see a personal switch :)

OMATS is back to being our favorite restaurant on the island!

In one word: excellent! The food is excellent and so is the service. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous and romantic. We have been to many island in the caribbean and to many countries around the world and this restaurant is by far the most romantic and excellent one. I had the fresh catch of the day special: Hog-fish with fresh papaya....devine! My husband had a fresh caribbean lobster thermidor. We saw the fisherman's boat arriving with the fresh catch and live lobsters...amazing...! Sunset is beautiful. We will be back next year! (even the restrooms are so nice)

We were in Aruba from January 2nd-16th and went to Old Man and the Sea twice. Absolutely marvelous. We started with the shrimp bruschetta which was amazingly delicious. The fresh fish of the day was outstanding and the sweet potatoes were a great compliment to the main course. Service was very good and the atmosphere couldn't be beat. Highly recommend it.

I waited a very long time to write this regrettable review as I was waiting to see if the manager would in fact get back in touch with me. Had he followed up I would never have done a negative review on his restaurant.

I am a very loyal and regular customer of OMATS (see previous review dated Dec. 25,2008)and it saddens me to report that our visit on Dec. 20th, was not very good. Without a doubt this place is the most beautiful in the entire island. The setting is not to be outdone but the service was sadly lacking as was the quality of the food. Our waiter was gruff and very "rough around the edges", so unlike the very friendly and personable staff we had become used to at OMATS. The entire evening it was very evident that there had been staff changes and it was not the same.
Our meal was mediocre. I ordered the same meal as on my last visit (March 2009)and it was not anywhere near as good. Four people who had ordered grouper felt that it was overcooked. Two of us had their signature dish, grouper in Machadamine nuts which tasted like it came out of a box (perhaps because it was overdone). The lamb was on the small side compared to what was served at many of the other restaurants in Aruba and rather expensive for the size. Out of 9 people only one felt truly happy with their meal.
Although this was our 5th time at OMATS and I had been reading some negative reviews lately, I was willing to go and make my own assessment. Although our meal was not up to their previous standard, what was the major disappointment was what transpired afterwards.
On Dec. 21st I sent the manager an email explaining what went on. I felt that every place can have an off night with food and staff so I felt as a regular I should give him the benefit of the doubt. He emailed me back right away that he was going to look into the situation and to give him a few days. Ok, it has been almost a month and I have not heard back despite me sending him another email. I was reluctant to do this review but after being ignored I decided to do my review. This does not give me any great pleasure as this place was one of our favourite on the island. I sent so many people to OMATS and no one wants to see someone not do well.
Will I be back? Really not sure....

I love love LOVE this restaurant! The decor is AMAZING....screams romance! I went there in May 2009 with my fiance and parents. The food was great but the environment is what makes this place so special. We enjoyed it so much that we did not want the night to end! We ordered an extra bottle of wine after dinner and when that was done we ordered cappuccinos just to prolong the experience! Can't wait to return during our next trip to Aruba!

I am glad that my wife and I ate at The Old Man & the Sea during our recent trip to Aruba. This Restaurant is located about 100 feet from The Flying Fish Bone where we also ate. I would rate The OMS above FFB for food and the environment. The tables and chairs are level and not as crowded as FFB. We did hear music coming from the neighbors house that clashed with the romantic setting. I had the catch of the day on a skewer with tiger shrimp with their spicy papaya sauce and it was wonderful. The staff was attentive and professional. One important point is that they do add a 15% service charge to your bill. I don’t remember any other restaurants doing this.

We ate at this restaurant last night and although it was okay, certainly not worth all the hype. Next door to the flying fishbone and just as difficult to find. Certainly the atmosphere was great, couples seated on the beach, great waiters. I had the fish of the day, grouper (what else on Aruba) and my wife had 2 appetizers. Grouper was overdone, vegetables were underdone. With a glass of wine and a beer bill came to $102..far better places on the beach right near Palm or Eagle beach if you really want to see the sunset and not pay the huge prices.
