El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

Very highly touted by everyone I know that has visited Aruba, and our experience was "memorable". The best part of the visit was the cocktail bar across the street. El Gaucho is a glorified Steak and Ale, with service that was poor this night. Not only was the steak not cooked to order, but it was the equivalent of shoeleather. Of course, we wanted to send it back, but our waiter apparently went to the beach. By the time he came back we were not very happy. The tenderloin that was cooked well done instead of medium rare was given to us at a discount instead of a full refund.($10.00 instead of $23.00). Nice way to conduct business, Give the customer the wrong food, ignore them for a half hour, and charge them $10 for eating the vegetables. El Gaucho was not worth it.

We've been here several times. The food is always good. We tried the El Gaucho steak and thought it was just OK. Then we tried the other steaks and thought they were MUCH better.
Went back again for our 3rd trip to Aruba. El Gaucho was NOT disappointing again. It's not Morton's or Ruth Chris's but it's good just the same.

We heard so much about this place for it's steaks that we had to try it. Boy were the steaks great. My husband had the 22oz. T-Bone steak and said it was delicious. I had the 8oz. Filet Mignon and you could cut it with a butter knife. And what was nice is that with the meal you got a salad and the mixed veggies were tasty to. Definitely worth the visit. Just be prepared because it's a bit loud.

We liked El Gaucho so much that we went twice in an 8-day visit. The first time, our concierge got us in at 7:00 on a Saturday night, with less than 10 hours notice. The second time, we just showed up on a Friday night, and had to go across the street to a good bar with a live singer for about 45 minutes.

Probably the best steak that I've ever had, and reasonably priced for the States, let alone Aruba. I had the T-bone once ($29), and the Gaucho ($24) our second time. My wife and daughter had the tenderloin ($23) both times.

While the facility's atmosphere is fair with big slab wood tables, the strolling musicians really turn it up a notch.

The stewed calimmari apetizer was bland, and the desserts were okay. Salad was ordinary, but fresh and large enough. The condiments provided with the steak, notably the garlic, were quite good.

Service was quite attentive, and the place was clean.

This was our second trip to El Gaucho's. It was all we expected. We wait each year for this experience and it was worth the wait again. Not cheap but you expect and get great food and service.

Outstanding! This is one place you don't want to miss when visiting Aruba. The steaks are excellent--on par or better than anything you'd find at a Ruth's Chris, Morton's or Del Friscos...with one big exception. The price. The 8oz Filet is only $16 and includes salad, vegetables and potato. Caution: Make reservations weeks before you get here!

El Gaucho's is a great steak house! The flavor of the steak is tantelizing. The steaks come with three condiments on the side and do try them because I have never tasted such incredible steak sauce and they also give you these spicy sweet onions and this garlic parlsey sauce too! FANTASTIC, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! One of the best steak house expereinces in our lifetime. We were also serenaded by the 2 guitarists that went around singing to tables...a nice fun touch to the night!!! Go and enjoy a night here, you won't leave hungry or disappointed!

By far the best meal we had on our vacation! (so good we went twice) Actually we agreed that is was the best restaurant we've ever been to including here in the states.First time my boyfriend had the grouper and I had the 8 oz tenderloin; the second time we both had steak and it was every bit as good as the first. We both had a meal, w/ 2 beers(for him) and 1 daiquiri(for me) and it was $60.00 , our cheapest dinner while in Aruba. Make reservations, and don't miss this place. (same prices for lunch as dinner, so make dinner reservations)

We always have a little trouble finding this restaurant the first time. If you’re driving here yourself, give yourself time to find it, and find parking. We had no wait our first dinner here. A salad & bread comes with dinner, so appetizers aren’t necessary. We both had the gaucho steak, which is a large tenderloin. The meal is served with 3 sauces on the side (the garlic was my favorite for dipping my stead and bread), corn, potato, and broccoli. This meal was phenomenal! We both ate about half of our meals and saved the rest for breakfast the next day. Chris had a piece of German chocolate cake for dessert. We enjoyed it so much; we made reservations for our next visit on the way out. Our second meal was on our anniversary and it was the perfect way to round out our perfect day. We had the same meal with the addition of a piece of tiramisu for myself. Once again, there was plenty left over for a delicious breakfast the next day.

Overrated, but worth a visit if you have the time, if only to say you've been there.
Food is good with generous portions, but it's a bit loud. Not the place to go for a quiet evening.
